Fun fact, the giant reaction of disbelief when Bella first met his family in their house was actually not scripted at all. That was him realizing he was going to be attached to this franchise till the end of time lmao
I think Charlie forgets the only reason those movies/books were so popular was because of angsty little 12 year old girls who weren't old enough to know what a red flag in a guy looks like.
I only ever watched the first film in theatres and it was an awkward experience trying to watch it. I didn't really think of it at the time but it came to me that, "Was that film meant to be taken seriously?" It's like watching an American adaptation of a goofy vampire anime but with none of the self awareness.
No tbh I hated this book and all of them. Stephanie needs therapy ☠️ like half the time I was like that wasn't even nice or cute. Then when Bella basically insisted on having the baby that was eating her from the inside I was like oh god it's worse than I thought. Stephanie Myers didn't write a love story she wrote a guide on what not to friggin do
Never watched them because I heard how bad they are. Cinema Therapy doesn't need to tell me that the relationship they have in these movies are toxic af. Plus, Robert Pattinson said he HATED being in these twilight films.
I remember everyone going on about it and my friend showing me basically the Scary Movie version it's called Vampires Suck (2010) I think the plot was spot on from what I remember 💀
My mom gave me the first twilight book in 6th grade, which I read and loved it. Then realized later that it was a book for chicks. still proceeded to read all 4 twice. It became my dirty secret for a long time. Im comfortable enough in my masculinity to admit it now though. it feels really good to get that off my chest 🤣
Biggest take away from this series, woman just love being treated like 8 years. You talk down to them like garbage and you'll be beating them off with a stick
Charlie , you're my age . Surely you remember the craze behind this movie . You are saying everything that I've said in the very beginning. I even got into an argument because I wouldn't take my date to see New Moon . I told my gf at the time that I left the theater sad after the first one 😆 I blamed it on the dull background, lol
When this movie's 1st came out I was so excited because I loved the book so much even though I hated Bella's character with a Passion. And I still do! And it also seems fitting who they got to play as bella because she's about as emotionally constipated and retarded as the character in the books, l o l. Back then I think I just loved the movie so much because I was so excited to see them come to film but looking back on it especially through. Charlie's eyes. It has been cracking me up! Although I will say though some of the stuff did seem kind of stupid at the time and the 1st. One was absolutely horrible between the casting of characters and the way they screwed up. The timeline. Also, when Charlie mentioned that the romance and it seems emotionally stunted like a little girl,. The writer is a mormon. Well there's nothing wrong with being more men but the type of way that she carries herself and the way she interviews. It seems like she does kind of maybe have an adolescent sense of emotion or take on romance..
The morman stuff is strong in the first part of the last movie where naive dumb bella once again puts herself in unnecessary horrible danger choosing to carry that baby knowing it would kill her. This was a sick message to put out there like hey ladies if you can't carry the baby and you'll die, die anyway lol it's fine. Like they made bella value herself at 0% this entire series and she was obsessed with Edward even before he saved her life in the first movie cause he looked hot. Girl was seriously naive about love and 'women's place' in things because like the way that author acts is too similar to Bella I feel like Stephanie wrote this as her idea of love and in many ways it's mostly just alarming and shows bella as a crappy friend daughter and person for everything she continued to do. I couldn't take her character either. I liked Jacob till they decided to make him wanna date Bella's daughter from the second he saw her as a baby that was gross and made me uncomfortable
Honestly, if you don't watch these movies with a commentary, you're doing yourself a disservice. Pretty Much It and Cosmonaut Variety Hour are the best.
As a kid, I hated these films and my mom loved them, so I was exposed to all of them and they are so bad; In a kinda good way, I guess. You have to be literally bread dead to have written some of the insane shit that transpires in these films.
I went and tried to watch the first twilight after hearing Charlie talk about how its good bad, I can firmly say that It doesn't even hold a candle to virtual combat or king of kick boxers 2 : fighting spirit, while it is indeed good bad, its just not the best good bad I've seen
Glad Charlie’s taste in bad movies is evolving. Twilight > Moon Fall. I watched Moon Fall just because of Charlie and was severely disappointed to see that it was just typical Roland Emmerich garbage. Wasn’t even enjoyable.
I wouldn't necessarily call the twillight series a fun bad series. However it is a silly movie when you have friends watch it with you to share the burden of the cringe.
You honestly should! Not for the "artistry" of the movie, but straight up to make fun of them and have a good time with friends (like Charlie has been doing)

I really liked that batman movie, too. It portrays batman as a lunatic who helps people, which is basically what batman is.

Old comment, but I wanna also say that the writer, Stephenie Meyer, would've also not known what a red flag for the books to be created.

Stephanie Meyer took all our teen angst and put it into one character. And made half of us fall in love with him. Miss those days. 😭
