This week we continue Project Jigsaw, our 1960's inspired supercar project based on a Porsche Boxster. We fabricate more of the front end structure, so the car can handle the weight of the aluminum paneling. We also share an update on our Porsche 928 project, and discuss the future of the channel.

Good to get an update on the 928 that's how I found this channel and cool builds like jigsaw scratch the itch.
As a 40 YO who grew up in MN with no cable for most of the time, I DEFINITELY appreciate the Red Green reference.

The only person who hasn’t blown holes in aluminum is the person who’s never welded aluminum. It was great to see/hear you say you had no idea how much to heat it with the MAPP gas! I said that same thing when straightening a frame member on my aluminum trailer using MAPP gas.
Looks like my aluminium welding. Not going to win Instagram bragging rights, but it does what it needs to do. Keep it up guys.

Aluminum can be a pain, especially when filling gaps. Make sure all your aluminum has been cleaned before you start, it helps a bit.
The 928 build is what got me into your channel. I've always loved that car in spite of it's many flaws

Love this project. Still can't believe this channel is only at 75k subs. With the quality of content and workmanship I'd have expected it to be at 250k at least. I know this is just a side hustle for you guys but I'm glad you're able to grow the channel and hire an editor.

You should consider and enclosure, heater and dehumidifier for your 3d printer so you can print End Of Use products. That bushing would work great in ASA. You can also print CFnylon that is chemical resistant. 🤙🤙

A trick to welding aluminum is to run the TIG colder and linger a little longer.

The way it’s designed, a small fender bender would make the whole structure have to be replaced. Maybe add a few bolt on points lol
Great show, always waiting for your next episode. When you heat up aluminum with a torch, melt some beeswax onto what you are heating, when the brownish color disappears, you are at the perfect temperature of 700 - 750F way before the aluminum melts right around 1000F. This is the method we use at MJC Engineering when we CNC Metal Spin aluminum tubes into bottles for the Hydrogen car and truck industry, so that the aluminum doesn't get too hot and melt: ruclips.net/video/dwkjj7AHmss/видео.html

I love the design, and believe there is a market for this style body.
I suspect hand beaten panels are absolutely too expensive and steel is out of the question.
So, that leaves fiberer glass or carbon fiber.
PS: My lifelong love is the 904 and hope 1 day you will do one.

Please learn how to use that Tig welder properly. That will make you joints way stronger than the work you do now. It saves you repairs afterwards.

Guys, you to have to do a "how I met my partner"; sometimes you can be 180 degrees apart and always it comes out. ON the content- thanks for the editorial; one of the great things car You Tubers have done is explode the concept of frame off custom cars in seven days and FWIW, gratification delayed is often greater. Hearing about the 928 and it's status, with the subtle hint that wee only got to see it because the owner/financier said so, and for his grace, we could be a bit more patient. Very much like the tack that RetroPower has taken- some customers don't want to share for any of a dozen good reasons, and they buy the coffee. btw, once all the panels are shaped, then cut to fit, then a ton of welding and wrestling will be needed to turn it into a finished body- and with a roof, it will need some thorough work all the way around the door openings; not "couple of days job". TY,TYVM!
I assume you'll be turning those 3D printed bushes out of nylon/poly for the final fit. I'm not sure I'd trust 3D printed plastic to hold the bonnet of my car in place when I'm putting a V8 through its paces.

I like the road lights you guys put but I'm not too fond of their design and placement. You two should've made it similar to the clay model of the car, it would've looked awesome but now the car looks way too smooth without any aggressiveness to its style. I love the build but there are things that you guys can definitely improve upon.
The gaps are too big. You need close tolerances for ally.
I wish I could find a video editor. Problem is, they cost money. And my channel makes no money.

That’s on our list to revamp! Thumbnails are tough to find what ‘works’ - and then variations that both work AND don’t look the same. 😅

I asked this before but it was ignored, yet it is a legal concern. How are you going to address the legal concern of installing an engine older model year than the chassis? As far as I know, it is not legal in any state to do this on a road-legal vehicle. Is this going to be just a track-only car?
