- Did George Harrison and Maureen Starkey have an affair?
“Wonderful Tonight” p. 174, 175, 176, 177)
The final straw was his affair with Maureen Starr, Ringo’s wife. [...] I discovered from some photos Terry had had developed that she had been staying in the house with George one weekend when Jenny and I [Pattie] had gone to Devon to see my mother. He had given her a beautiful necklace, which she wore in front of me. Then I found them locked into a bedroom at Friar Park. I stood outside banging on the door and saying to George, “What are you doing? Maureen’s in here, isn’t she? I know she is”, but he laughed. [...] Eventually he opened the door, and said “Oh, she’s just a bit tired so she’s lying down” - Видеоклипы
I don't know what the timeline was when Eric Clapton told George he was in love with Patty? Because apparently George didn't care so much because George was already having affairs. The stories of Eric-George-Patty and George-Ringo-Maureen sound similar. George told Ringo he was in love with Maureen (Ringo was having affairs too). And Eric told George he was in love with Patty. All remained good friends. Patty apparently left because of George's affairs. George I believe went to their wedding. Eric went on to have two kids with other women during his marriage to Patty. Life of a rock star. I think the only one who went onto have a normal healthy marriage was Paul and Linda. Until she passed.
Free love… it wasn’t free after all….
Apparently Paul was having affairs with other women while dating Jane Asher.
George and Pattie were drifting apart in 1969. George was doing a lot of drugs and meditation and had changed. Pattie felt emotionally cut off from him. She briefly left George in January 1969. That's when George walked out of the Let it Be sessions, to try and mend his relationship with Pattie. The marriage continued to spiral downward, and by 1973, both George and Pattie had had affairs with other people. In 1974, George had an affair with Maureen, while Eric Clapton started pursuing Pattie. For Pattie, George's affair with Maureen was the final straw, and she filed for divorce that same year.
I feel sorry for Pattie, as she deserved better. George cheated on her, as did Eric Clapton later. She had bad luck with men.
While married to George, Patti had an affair with Ron Wood before going to Clapton.
The affair with Maureen was why George and Ringo stopped being on each other’s albums and singles. George was on the Ringo album and would not appear on another one until 1981’s Stop and Smell the Roses. George did give a song to Ringo for Rotogravure but did not appear and Ringo would not appear on a George track until “ All those Years Ago”.
I loved George , but that was messed up having an affair with the wife of your band mate. I'm no prude, but there are some lines you just do not cross.
EXACTLY
Wouldn't have happened in the mob.
yeah like Lennon said, it was incest
The Beatles shared woman on a regular basis, at one time they wife swapped ,regularly .
@@davecooke7868 Im sure Linda was down with that.
This reminds me of the country music song, "My wife ran off with my best friend and I sure do miss him."
Lol. Best comment.
Linda McCartney was the most unique Beatle women. Her charisma stood out.
She was the most intelligent and sophisticated , she was very good for Paul ..
@@opencurtin You are right.
Jane didn't smoke dope whereas Linda did. This was surely an issue that put a strain on Jane and Paul's relationship (as well as catching him in their bed with another woman-not sure if it was Maggie or Francie, though).
I think regardless of your opinion of her, Yoko is the most unique.
Cynthia and Linda were the best Beatle wives.
Pattie was cheated way before she cheated, George had many affairs, so when she started to go out with Clapton, George had already done the entire country, but people prefer to turn the blind eye and blame the woman no matter what. Poor Pattie.
I have never heard any of the Beatles' wives/girlfriends being blamed but, yes, poor Pattie.
Good point-in fact, before finally giving in, Patti had turned down Clapton's advances numerous times before she had finally had enough of George's philandering ways-he even got it on with Eric's ex-girlfriend, Charlotte Martin, who briefly moved in with George and Patti after her split from Clapton.
Lol you don't that at all! 🤣🤣
Assumed sympathy.
Yes he sure did, then when she got with eric he treated her as bad
I’ve never heard of the women being blamed. I’ve always heard all the scandals being pointed at Ringo or George
No matter how talented and successful a person is it is always having a good character that wins through in the end.

Ringo was cheating on his wife too
Pues también el andaba de loquillo, pero bueno.

No, more immoral than forgiving. It’s not “forgiving“ when you really don’t care in the first place and aren’t worried how God will feel about it. The whole thing is disgusting.
It's easy to forgive when you are guilty of the same.
No. This was why Ringo and George stopped playing on each others albums and John accused George of engaging in “incest” with Maureen:
So Ringo started dating Maureen when she was 16...no wonder he covered "You're Sixteen"....
And before that, she was dating Johnny Guitar from Rory Storm & the hurricanes, Ringo's former band before he join the Beatles.
Kenneth Oats Actually Ringo’s 16 year old daughter had a brain tumor. He had a lot of medical expenses to get her the best care, so he went on a tour accompanied by musician friends . His big song on tour was Sweet Sixteen dedicated to his daughter.
@@francie2915 Ringo's daughter was only three when he released that song. He recorded You're Sixteen because he claimed it was his mother's favorite song
She was born in 1970. Song released in 1973. @@francie2915
I find it interesting how common these situations are between bandmates in bands of all levels of success.
!!! My first band broke up because the 2 different bassists that we had started having an affair with the girls that I and the other guitarrist dated.
Its real
I think this happens in any group of people who spend a lot of time together in close proximity. In a band you go on tour together, spend long hours rehearsing and recording together, have to go to social events together. And your group plus a close inner circle gets isolated somewhat from the rest of society. In the early days that's through touring a lot, and as you get more famous, it's also because you can't go out anywhere without being hassled. So, it's not that surprising that band members socialise with , flirt with, and even sleep with the partners of other members.
George was a naughty boy, he took his knickers down
Yeah but he's not the eggman nor the walrus.😂
This is what pissed me off about George. Sleeping with Ringo’s wife. He drove Pattie away, thought George was better than that. Don’t get married if you want to sleep around. Same with Olivia he cheated on her too. At the end he was just a bloke from Liverpool.
That was very forgiving of Ringo.. I don't think I could have been so forgiving esp when you work alongside someone so close like brothers.. It's a betrayal of trust and really hurts.. I know from experience how that feels but you do eventually learn to accept and move on or else it digs you up inside.. But it's never easy
Anything like this and you should go no contact. It’s the only healthy solution.
Pete, Ringo said it took two years of trying to forgive George. Who else do you know that would have tried?
Everybody was cheating on everybody 😂
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
He’s not the messiah. He’s a very naughty boy
Patti resisted Eric for a long time - even while he was writing songs for her - until it became transparent she had nothing left with George. Maureen to me was fixated on Patti, I think she wanted to (be) her. She dyed her hair blonde, wore it the same, dressed like her and stole her man. She was strangely very rude to Patti and would knock on their door and push her way inside to go downstairs to be with George. That's pretty upsetting. Patti finally told her "Maureen go home" but she still pushed past Patti. What a "honey-do" Maureen was 🤔 (Honey Don't!!) 😐
Eidann63 When Maureen died, Paul wrote a song in tribute to her. Little Willow.
@@ajcarr1965 It was written for her four children, to help them heal from the death of their mother. Not for her. "Little Willow" is a young tender child. He was trying to assure them it would be okay as time went on. Paul knew what it was like (as you no doubt know) to lose a parent when you're young.
ugh how did pattie not punch her right in the face? And she was literally so ugly😭
I wonder if George said "Thanks Mo" when he was done?.
😂😂
Probably, if she screamed and clapped her hands.
Well she certainly passed the audition.
Funny
Many marriages have problems, even my late parents had a bad situation, but I never found out exactly what happened. It must be more difficult when your parents are famous, to avoid learning all the details of things like this. I feel sorry for Ringo and Maureen's children.
Few get those temptations on that level
Y Julián con la situación de su papá 😔 May era una buena influencia para él, pero bueno quiso volver a Yoko.
Lo único bueno fue Taro Sean...
Ringo was a heavy drinker, cheating and Maureen wanted comfort from a man so she went to George especially late at night to meditate (more like sex) and he did apply.
Ringo still loved her,but couldn’t get past it. Pattie said she thought Maureen was her good friend. Ringo never said he couldn’t be mad. Took years to get over.
Lotta children of famous people don’t regard their parents as famous. So, I agree that it must be difficult for them to read these details, they probably just get used to it. Just speculating.
Ringo seems to be a very easy going man & he loved George. All this is in the past… & forgiven.
This is one of the craziest Beatle stories that no one seems to talk about. None of the Beatles were faithful to their partners. Because they were Beatles they felt as if they could get away with whatever they wanted
John even wrote a song about one of his affairs... Norwegian Wood....
I thought Paul was faithful to Linda?

I feel this is why we should never put these famous musicians on pedestals. Admire and respect their talent but also acknowledge they could be horrible people. I always liked George but I remember my opinion of him dwindled when I read Pattie Boyd's autobiography and also when I read Ronnie Woods' autobiography. There was a few things in those books that really didn't paint George in a good light. He was very sleazy.

A "lady" doesn't enter your home to screw your husband while you're there. Sorry.
Don’t get me wrong I am a Harrison fan, I bought all his albums, including the Krsna album. But when people make out that he was some sort of mystic saint it irritates me. After his death Olivia seemed to suggest that some cosmic force ‘lit up the room’ as George passed away, power of delusion I guess? George was, apparently, just like the rest of us, greedy, flawed, deceitful and inconsiderate of other peoples feeling, even close friends. Pretty bad that George always claimed (and presented himself) as being so spiritual, and then he goes and does something like that. Can’t have it both ways, George. 🙄
She was also a major womanizer.
I was a great Beatle's fan as a young guitar player. Indeed inspired by them...to join a pop band and to this day include many Lennon McCartney songs in my song repertoire. However the more I learn of the private lives of my "music heroes" I have become, no longer a fan of the Beatles but a fan of Beatlemusic!
Well said!!! I have always been a big fan of their music but I never understood the craziness that surrounded them and why women found them sexually attractive . My mom was one of the screaming fans by the way.
Well you need to grow up as the human soul never stops searching for its mate, hence lots and lots of affairs.
Don't underestimate how hard it was to be a Beatle and the kind of pressures and temptations that they had, very different from most of our lives, it's easy to judge people in other situations but would we fare any better? That's not so easy to tell. George and Ringo remained good friends and respect remained between them.

Ringo's guilt about sleeping with other woman all the time allowed him to "not cast the first stone" at Maureen. Ringo is a genuinely good person, you can see it. It's written all over him.
Most famous people are not good marriage material.
I really think George had so many women that he wasted capable of staying true to one woman I didn't think he would cross that line and sleep with his friends wife but you have to remember Ringo was as bad as George when it came to women I just don't think it mattered that much to either of them
