- Did you know that two of the biggest rock songs ever were written about a former model by the name of Pattie Boyd and that she is still around today? Pattie Boyd was instantly smitten the moment that she met Beatles guitarist George Harrison. The meeting occurred in 1964, while the Beatles were hard at work filming their first feature film, A Hard Day’s Night. Pattie was cast in the feature as a schoolgirl, having previously worked as a model. Pattie’s casting in the feature proved fateful for two reasons. Not only did it prove the star’s big break, but it also introduced her to George.

Pattie was dating somebody else at the time but was quickly won over by George Harrison’s advances. The two were married two years later, though their marriage started deteriorating soon after the ceremony. They married in 1966 and ended up staying married until 1977. However, their marriage was in shambles during much of that time period as a result of George Harrison’s rampant adultery. While Pattie was reeling over George’s continuous infidelity, fellow musician Eric Clapton swooped in to steal her away.
While Pattie and George’s marriage was deteriorating, George wrote the song “Something” for her, which ended up being his biggest hit as a songwriter. In order to compete with George, Eric wrote his own song for Pattie. That song was “Layla”, which also became a huge hit. Soon after Eric played “Layla” for Pattie, she decided that she was won over by the guitarist’s advances. Things only became more heated later that night, when Eric admitted to George that he was in love with his wife. Join Facts Verse as Pattie Boyd hides nothing about her tragic love triangle.
Pattie Boyd Hides Nothing About Her Tragic Love Triangle Развлечения
Thanks for getting the story right. I'm a Beatle fan, and have always known the facts of the love triangle. Yes, Pattie did leave George a "decade" after Layla was released. She loved George, not Eric, and wanted to save her marriage. George became so obsessed with meditation that Pattie felt isolated and lonely in her marriage. Yet, she stayed and tried to make it work. She refused Clapton's advances over and over again. Eric was obsessed with Pattie. It was an unrequited love. He made threats of killing himself to getting on heroin if she wouldn't be with him. She still stayed faithful to George. The writing of the song Layla and Clapton's heroin addiction didnt sway her. After years of trying to make her marriage work with Harrison's constant cheating, what ultimately made her leave was Harrison's affair with Ringo's wife Maureen. To this day Pattie says the love of her life was George Harrison. So to all the people who think she just ran off with Eric or was swayed by Layla, she was not. Pattie tried very hard to make it work with George. Pattie and Cynthia Lennon are my favorite Beatle wives.
Yes! I agree with every word you said...I think she always loved George but George was in too deep with his meditation, Ravi Shankar and neglected her.
@@angelus9002 Thank you. You are right.
George would bring women over to the house and sleep with them. No respect for Pattie. Her last straw was when he was bringing over Ringo's wife Maureen.
@@angelus9002 he was more into Maureen, Ringo's wife
cynthia lennon was a huge pos. I got "A Twist of Lennon" when it came out before John died. A huge difference in the book she put out after he died. She got married 2x after John then changed her name back to Lennon after those marriages were over to make money off of John. She poisoned julian against his father because of her hatred of Yoko yet once again Yoko gets blamed for something she didn't do. No one talks about the fact that John filed for divorce from cynthia first because of her affair with Magic Alex. There are plenty of us that remember when all this happened.
The picture at the beginning of the video is Britt Ekland, not Patti Boyd.
My thought exactly
Strange, isn't it ? The biggest pic of s'one NOT Patti ??!!
That should have told you all you need to know about the story. He gets a lot wrong on other videos as well.
You're right. It's not
@@1sttvbn I don't see that. Which picture do you mean? (What Time in the video)
If you had actually read Patti's book; they were NOT fighting over her. George let her go. It wasn't a step up for her as Clapton had such terrible problems with drugs and alcohol. It didn't go well. Clapton was also was fooling around. The life style of these Stars sounds like real misey at times. George was one of the few who grew and became a happy person and his second wife was amazing. He won out after all.
If you read her book, George was having an affair with Ringo's wife, Maureen. He called them, Ringo and Pattie over to say he was in love with Maureen.
@@lyricberlin I did read her book but I read it very fast and either forgot that part or breezed past it. Color me surprised.
George was a womaniser til the end.
@@spaceengineer1452 Did you see his last wife? I think he was happy as a clam at the end. I doubt he had the energy to chase skirts forever. Like Paul....he finally found someone to stick with. It's really better.
@@robertgiles9124 In the doc Living in the Material World , Olivia says he was unfaithful many times but she stayed married by her choice.
There was never a 'fight' between George and Eric. They were close friends until George passed. George and Eric used to joke they were 'husbands-in-law'. Too funny!
funny if it happened to you?
I don’t know how they come with something that never happened!!😡

I read both Ladies (Cynthia and Patties) books. They put up with a lot.
cynthia lennon's first book when John was alive was WAY different than the pos hatchet job she did on him after he died.
@@lyricberlin excuse me, Lennon used to beat her up. He WAS a POS.
John was horrible to Cynthia and Julian.
It's kind of a perfect example of wanting something, or someone so badly, but when you finally have it, it's value is lost. It's the wanting, that infatuated people, not the actual having. Sad really.
Love isn't like that. Real love is uglier, grittier, but much more fulfilling.
Eric has come out and admitted that he was so lost in his drug and alcohol addiction, he’s not sure he really knew what love was
So true, we only want what we can't have and never appreciate what we have already.
Exactly. And man...talk about irony...check out this line from another one of Clapton's lovers, Cheryl Crow: "It's not having what you want; it's wanting what you've got". (Soak Up The Sun)
(Plus...Crow wrote the song "My Favorite Mistake" about Clapton.)
Ya know...the more I think about it, rock and roll is like one big soap opera. Look how many songs Joni wrote about her former lovers! Similar with CSNY. And FFS...just about every Fleetwood Mac song had something to do with a personal relationship among the members..
I’m glad that Pattie finally found her true love.
Your screenshot is NOT Pattie Boyd. It’s a photo of a young Britt Ekland.
Not 2 , but 3 of the biggest rock songs ever , were written about Pattie Boyd.
Yup wonderful tonight!
You beat me to it!
If you listen to the entire Layla album, there are enough songs that can be attributed to Clapton's attraction to Patti (Bell Bottom Blues, Have You Ever Loved A Woman, I Am Yours, Tell the Truth) that it could easily be said that the ALBUM was written for Patti. This actually lead some credence to the urban legend that Clapton "won Patti away from Harrison in a guitar dual". After all, how do you one up what was declared the "greatest love song of all time" (quoting Frank Sinatra - probably the greatest crooner of all time) but with an entire album of awesome love songs (remember, the full title of the album is Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs).
In addition, George Harrison once stated (though, over the years, back peddled) that every love song he wrote while a Beatle after meeting Patti on the set of Hard Day's Night was about or inspired by Patti.
Patti Boyd-Harrison-Clapton was the 1960's Rock n Roll equivalent to Helen of Troy.
I heard it was like seven songs
@@SteveGoebler wrong. Layla and Wonderful tonight by Eric and Something in the Way she Moves by George. The sound, Have You Ever Loved a Woman was actually written by someone else. Look at the album.

My right arm to live as Pattie Boyd for one day! I have always been fascinated by Pattie's legendary effect on two phenomenal musicians so...just read her two books.
Listening to all of this ,which I already knew, reminds me of the old forbidden fruit Theory: we always want what we can't have; then once we get it we don't want it.
We agree! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
That was Eric's attitude once he was in the relationship with Pattie. It was the idea of her and the chase to get her that really motivated him.
I’m a HUGE Beatles fan so yes, I was well aware of the songs written about Patti Boyd. 😊

@@FactsVerse : Actually; "Something" is about Srimati Radharani. The consort, eternal companion of Lord Sri Krishna. Songs can have duel meanings, but if you know George's heart: you will know that "Something", is about Radhe.

The song "Wonderful Tonight" was also written for Patty
Eric Clapton was her crazed fan.
Of course I knew ❤️❤️ but I loved George more. And Patti is 80 this year 2022 OMG😢
Patti is one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever seen. George and Eric mended fences and created some of the most classic music of all time.
George always cracked me up with his "escape from the material world" and his belief that others would cover you with "their sin" and rejecting "I, me, mine". His idea of Eastern mysticism had more in common with a Python skit, than the Bhagavad Gita. Through all his bosh,he's still my favorite Beatle.
Wonderful Tonight is another one about her
I think the song "The shape you're in' is a song written by Clapton about Pattie drinking excessively. What a cheek.
I’m a Clapton fan and this is a good story.
Thanks for watching! We're so glad you enjoyed this video. What other types of videos would you like to see?
Yes, I know about the love triangle between the three. All I can say is that sometimes, beauty is a curse. Long live Pattie - those two songs in your honor will live forever. Also, didn't Eric record Wonderful Tonight for Pattie? That's what I've always heard.
Yes, he did.
Also Bell Bottom Blues
Yes. all 3 songs for Pattie Boyd.
WTF, the lead picture is Britt Eklund NOT Patti Boyd. 😂

why was there a photo of Britt Ekland on the thumbnail?
There are errors in this video. First, Clapton did not steal Pattie Boyd. She was already divorced from Harrison when they started dating. Also, Clapton wrote two songs about Boyd, the second being “Wonderful Tonight”
he wrote several about her
The song wonderful tonight sucks
@@timothyramsey9811 perhaps but he made a boatload of money off of it

Wrong about them dating after the divorce. Much more to it than you have been informed. Read clapton and Boyd's book
Dating is not really what was going on
Hooked up with some big names in rock
There are 3 songs written about Patti I think Wonderful Tonight was also written about her. There is another lost story about George and Eric people might not know about. When Eric was going through the loss of his son and TEARS IN HEAVEN became a mega hit Eric was still so lost about his son that his then wife invited George to come see if he could cheer him up a bit. It didn't work Eric was still lost but George hit it off with Eric's wife and the 2 wound up spending a romantic weekend together and that is how Geoge got back at Eric for stealing Patti away from him
I love Harrison but the fact of the matter is he slept around on Patti many times including with Ringo's wife Maureen. Their marriage was pretty much over when Clapton came on the scene.
Very true.
i only knew about layla but both songs are beautiful.
Cover photo: that's JEAN SHRIMPTON!!!
She may have beautiful songs written about her but she really didn't have it easy with either one of them. I actually have a lot of respect for her as she has always had such kind things to say about both Clapton and Harrison. I personally would have stuck it out with Harrison and from listening to some of her interviews I really believe she probably wishes she had. Clapton just seems like he would have been mentally hard to handle. He was mentally hard on himself verbally and mentally. Im happy he got the help he needed and a strong normal beautiful woman who is his current wife. Melia as he has said didn't really know who he was when they met she just knew I believe it was her uncle who really liked Clapton. She appears to be very level headed and supportive of Clapton and his continued sobriety. It just goes to show how being in the right place at the right time worked out for them both in such a positive way. Love that with all the sadness he went through in life he now has so much happiness and love from her and his beautiful children who he seems to adore. What he has now money can't buy it's genuine.
The very first time I saw Patty Boyd in the train, in the movie, with a girlfriend, I had difficulty believing what I saw. Could any human girl look so incredibly attractive? She was so beautiful.
I don't know. As far as British models go back in the 1960s go check out Jean Shrimpton. Shrimpton was much prettier and also much more of a top model. Boyd was just a run of the mill model until she hooked up with George.
@sydmccreath4554 You are correct. Pattie was pretty but not the prettiest and not one of the top models at the time. She got more work after hooking up with George because she hooked up with George.
Wonderful tonight was about her as well. Trivia her sister Jenny was married and had children with Mic Fleetwood
George said that "Something" wasn't really about Pattie.
He actually did say that and further stated that Isn't it a Pity would have been more likely have been written about her. He said this in an interview I forget which one but if you really want to hear him say that I'm sure you'll be able to find it on you tube. That's where I came upon it. If you think about it and listen to the lyrics isn't it a Pity lyrics make sense. Neither of them where happy at the end of the marriage however they did love each other.
This is well known news in documentaries and books for decades.

Who's the woman in the thumbnail? It's not even Pattie Boyd. That's how reliable "Facts Verse" is.
George & Eric both lead Guitar legends had young women around them all he time. Like bees to honey 🍯
What a great friend is that Clapton guy
Harrison and Clapton remained friends after Boyd left Harrison? I was under the impression that their friendship cooled for a few years after that, and then they reconciled many years later?
They had a difficult time at first. It's ironic that George attended their wedding and joined Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr in an impromptu concert at the reception. Asked later why he didn't attend, John Lennon replied, "I didn't know it was happening. I didn't receive an invitation. Had I known everyone was going to be there I would have come." Clapton reported that no one thought John would come to Arizona to attend the wedding as Lennon had isolated himself from the entertainment world and wasn't accepting invitations or offers.
@@gmb858 Well, Clapton and Boyd did get married about a decade after she left Harrison, so I guess at that point it was enough time for him to get over it.

George was mixed up and uncertain about many things. Remember he wasn't 28 years when his "career" and the height of his glory was over. He never felt he was that good a guitarist, couldn't understand his good fortune, was brow beat by Lennon and McCartney as the "kid." He got caught up in circular thinking that trapped him from true growth.
I say that now looking back from the age of 72. I was a 13 year old when the Beatles rocked the world apart on the Ed Sullivan show. They were the biggest thing in show business. It would drive anyone nutty at the age of 20, as George was, to have that much fame and "fan worship." He and Eric "made it out alive." Several "big name" entertainers didn't which can be attributed to a lifestyle where "too much is not enough."
Eric : alcohol, cocaine and heroin
George : cocaine and exploiting women's feelings
Georges song was the best in my opinion, Ido like Layla but it comes second for me

If you want to hear a truly awesome recording, search for Gris Gris by Dr John. It's the swampy and dark sound of Voodoo New Orleans.
6:51 are you sure? Wasn't it Doctor Hook who had himself a medicine show?
Dr. John was from New Orleans and was a famed practitioner of voodoo. Eric accept some voodoo paraphernalia and goofed around with it for a few weeks then put it on the shelf.
I don't know why they keep repeating this George said countless time that Something was not about Patty.
George, Eric and Patti are just very lucky their love triangle didn't end up a tragic situation. Most of them often do. There was two love triangles situations in my area over the years and both times all three involved ended up dead.
Sad, after Eric Clapton won Patti's heart after writing his song about her, and showing her affection that George had stopped doing, that he couldn't have stayed faithful to her instead of cheating on her.
One can't blame Patti for getting married the third time to someone not connected with music. And, she probably had to do some serious sole searching before she married the third time is more likely the reason she didn't marry for sometime after her second failed marriage.
George cheated on Pattie with everyone including Ringo's wife
Eric had a daughter born in 1985 and a son born in 1986 with two different women what a dickhead
Patti ended up with neither! Eric Clapton will confess that he was an alcoholic and did not know what love was!
Im suprised that Eric lived after 50 based on his extreme consumption of alcohol, cocaine, heroin and tobacco, he almost died in 1971 of a heroin overdose and in 1981 of alcoholism while on tour the man has been lucky since the 70s.
