John made good music and wrote amazing songs but after I read Cynthia Lennon's book about her life with him, I never felt the same way about him again. He was absolutely, horribly abusive to Cyn and Julian. I agreed with Julian when he said that John was a hypocrite and it hurts me to know that a man who wrote such lovely songs could be so mean to his own wife and child. Bless them both.
@Lynn Granata Oh really? So him physically abusing Cyn before they even got married was supposed to be pleasant? (John, himself, admitted to being physically abusive to previous girlfriends as well.) What about constantly demeaning her with verbal abuse by constantly telling her what absolute rubbish she was and then doing the same to their son? Or maybe showing preference to his second son with Yoko after years of treating his older child like an unwanted mistake? Not to mention parading his constant infidelities in front of her, including Yoko who was brought to their home while Cyn was off on holiday and came back to find them both there. I'm sorry, I seem to have forgotten that those are extremely desirable traits to want in a spouse/romantic partner/a human being in general. In other words, yes, he was bloody mean. Use your common sense, Miss.
@BrownSugarV2 I understand you're not trying to start a fight, but a few points here: 1. I'm not being hypocritical 2. I am against domestic violence since I am a domestic violence survivor. 3. The subject of the video is John Lennon, so yes, I would only talk about John Lennon in this comment, although it's a fact that numerous other men were abusers and misogynists. To bring up such a wide point during a video about one specific person is just weird. 4. I'm not "saying what I want" about John Lennon. It's a FACT that he was abusive to both of his wives and his son Julian.
Also, I'd add that, the reason some of John's songs from The Beatles sting is in the lyrics. For example the infamous Getting Better where John literally stated he beat his wife but nobody noticed cus of how cheery the song sounded. The signs that John wasnt...right in the head were there, we were just too entranced to see it unfortunately
"I used to be cruel to my woman, and physically... any woman. I was a hitter. I couldn't express myself and I hit. I fought men and I hit women. That is why I am always on about peace, you see. It is the most violent people who go for love and peace. Everything's the opposite. But I sincerely believe in love and peace. I am a violent man who has learned not to be violent and regrets his violence. I will have to be a lot older before I can face in public how I treated women as a youngster." John Lennon
Actually that line ends with 'I wonder if you can'....I mean if you're going to get on your high horse for some lightweight reason, might aswell get it right.
"Imagine" nothing more than an ode to Communism. Lived in a multi million dollar apartment in the Dakota then sings that the rest of us need to eschew material possessions. Beat the crap out of his first wife Cynthia and lectures us about peace. The hypocrisy is epic.
I love the Beatles, but appalled at John's betrayal of Cynthia and Julian. Julian turned out to be a class act. He set a better example in real life than his father. However, I do think John was becoming a better man in the last years of his life.
Yes, he was confessional and repentant about it but fate did not give the father and son time to come full circle. Becoming so famous and rich at such an early age certainly added to the challenge of being a good dad at 20 or so. We have to love and forgive him. He did suffer early on a lot. Music was the light that led him ever on out of human darkness.
Was it a planned betrayal, or, is it more endemic to the very rapidly changing life as a world famous man.? The John that began with the Beatles...in fact, all of the Beatles, from the beginning were all very different people at the end of the 60s.. Sometimes relationships are lost, or, irrevocably altered by the pressures of fame and a press that loves slinging mud..true, embellished, or, totally false.. That has not changed to this day. That, alone, would be an incredible weight to have to carry.. I'm not a Yolo fan, but, John Lennon loved her and I cannot judge him for that..
@@MrBannystar Did he? I hope not...people have the tendency to continue bad behavior because it's what they were brought up with. Unless you learn new coping skills..etc..well....and this applies to me...not "pointing the finger"...
@@janedoe-hq9vn As far as I know, no. That was the point of my reply because he and his mother received abuse from John but turned out OK. Many people adore John Lennon so they'll try to offer excuses for his behaviour, but they'd be very quick to condemn someone else for the same thing.
John was my childhood hero. Now that my Beatlemania is in remission I can see things a little more clearly. He was a mess. A bundle of insecurities, neuroses., contradictions, and grudges. Sadly, ironically without all of that baggage he might not have been the genius that he was. He was rarely, if ever, happy. It was his madness that seemed to be the driving force that kept him keeping on.
@@s3ntin3l60 Probably because I had some of the same insecurities and neuroses. I had some very challenging years as a teenager and music helped me get through it. It wasn't only what he said that struck such a chord with me but also the way he said it that I knew it was real. I loved McCartney but I didn't get that same thing from him. I know there's a lot of mythology around just about any famous person, but all of that aside, Lennon was a remarkably talented artist.
@@philblane5752 People love John Lennon bc of what he purposefully brought and stood for understanding how important and useful it was for social comment in front of a camera : peace and love , John was real with a big set of balls and that impacted a generation more than songs of his like “she loves you” ,etc , etc. We are all flawed sir but action taken of the latter defines who we become not what happens in the past .
@@yoursleepparalysisdemon8171 didn't expect a hamilton reference here xD. Anyway, by the time John started singing about peace, he already changed and was a better, peaceful person.
The ‘Come Together’ “plagiarism” is so overblown. Lennon literally made it a known fact he’d borrowed a line from the song, yet people try and brandish it that he’d copied the entire song discreetly..
If you go back through out time in the history of pop music, i bet you'll find a lot of music has been plagiarized. And yet you'll find no one mentioning any of those songs.
maddogoz08 Chuck Berry was extremely well known for suing musicians all through the Sixties. He was cautious about people ‘ripping him off’, suing the Beach Boys for “Surfing USA”, directly taking the melody of “Sweet Little Sixteen”. Many others were sued for even making reference to Berry lyrics, such as Lennon, who Berry and his record label targeted especially to make big money..
John's Lennon's attorney, Harold Seider, was fully prepared to fight the plagiarism charge. However, he was based in NY, and Yoko -- who was pursuing NY session guitarist David Spinozza at the time -- didn't want Lennon around. So Seider & Lennon settled.
@Luke Robinett It was a loving homage and that's the way Chuck took it. John and Chuck were friendly with each other always. It wasn't Chuck who sued. It was his publisher Morris Levy. John never held anything against Chuck for it.
I feel like John Lennon didn't have the time to know himself. Everything in his life in forty years from the Beatles and his activism and the amount of people he lost is truly heartbreaking and I think he couldn't just take it all in at the rate it was going.
@ghost mall Dude, it's far from him just being less than perfect, or focusing on his "worst" moments. His evil deeds span most of his adult life, that's decades we're talking about. He abused his wife and son, and many of us know all too well what these abusers are like.
@ghost mall Very well put -- couldn't agree more. People who have accomplished next to nothing in their lives attacking one of the most successful artists in history based on some tabloid drivel. If some of you would at least have the humility to admit jealousy and resentment are at the core of these attacks. We're all flawed, but some of us work harder, study harder and accomplish more, and that was certainly John Lennon.
Forgot to mention he (Lennon) and Harry Nilsson getting tossed out of 'The Troubador' night club in West Hollywood in 1974 for being belligerent. At one point as he (Lennon) was acting up a waitress told him to knock it off. Lennon replied "Don't you know who I am?" She replied "Yeah, you're a drunk (*&^^%."
When you look at John lers say back in 1971 he looked like a kind man the hair the glasses the smile you would think that he was a good man, but then you learn the truth about his anger issues, mood swings, depression, ego, lack of empathy the man was a major d-bag, and cared only about himself and Yoko and they both had affairs because they couldn't stay faithful he was a troubled genius
Not saying that he didn’t do any good but, I believe the reason why John wasn’t the greatest person is bc of how many bad things impacted him, especially the things that traumatised him. His close uncle dies, his mum, abuse of heroine etc, I don’t think that’s the life anyone would wish for
funny that u watched a video about a domestic abuser and took away that Yoko is a bad artist. The misogyny didn't just jump apart, it ripped your black shriveled soul apart on its way out.

People wont have any sympathy or understanding of the poor guy. Its not hard to see why he turned out to have a lot of his own problems being a father.
Cliffspringer No, people won’t understand unless it happened to them. I lost my father when I was 5 years old. I never would have ever thought of abandoning my kids but I have battled depression off and on my whole life. People are affected in different ways when they lose a parent at a young age. You are scarred forever!! Since John had a bad father, maybe at the time he was afraid that he just couldn’t handle it. Nobody knows what goes through another person’s head? The whole thing is sad....
Hey Mate - Actually you got it wrong here. Paul was 14 when his mother Mary passed - and John was 17..(please google). Anyways - thank you for trying to make things right..Peace out and thanks to god for the Beatles.
1920Janice abandonment is one of the most frightening feelings a child endures and loosing your dad at five must’ve been terribly painful, especially if you were close . That you’ve suffered depression is no surprise . I had a therapist many years ago who coached me through a workbook that helped with abandonment and , personally , I thought it was worth it. I’m so glad to hear that you went on to be a mom . I’ll bet you are a good parent and bonded well with your children .
Maybe Juliean and Sean will get closer if and when Sean s mother passes away. I still say she was the ruination of John. I don't think she really loved him . He was her money maker and security blanket.
My mother told me as a small girl that was just starting to appreciate music, that John was NOT at all the man his public image portrayed him to be. That he was a negligent father and an abusive husband. We have always and will always be a George Harrison family. Hands down, the beatle with the most insight.

I like both John and George. I think George also have flaws too. Remember when he snogged Ringo's wife? Yeah, not a good background story, but i like George more and i agree with you
I think this was a fair portrayal of Lennon”s personal failings. Like most people he was neither a saint nor a monster. He was a human being with a poetic bent and musical talent, and was barely 23 when the Beatles landed in New York in early 1964. The love and peace he later spoke and sang about was his vision for humanity during the time of the Vietnam War. He wasn’t calling for failed marriages to endure, or absentee fathers to repent. One of his endearing traits was the honest and frank assessments he made of himself amidst the pitfalls of celebritum. Kurt Cobain said something to the effect he would rather be hated for what he is, than be adored for what he is not, and I suspect John held a similar sentiment. Despite personal issues, his life can be viewed as a charmed one. While many a talented guitar player/songwriter/vocalist languishes in obscurity, having a group of friends from youth that play music together and getting the opportunity to work with a music producer like George Martin at EMI, becoming the most beloved and critically acclaimed Rock band the world has ever known...and then getting permission from your wife to work out your mid-life crisis issues with her young intern! This is pretty cool stuff. And then out of nowhere comes this religious schizophrenic, Mark Chapman, to greet him at the entrance to his apartment building one fine night in December, 1980, firing five rounds into Lennon”s back. The only interaction John had ever had with this fellow was autographing an album cover earlier in the day at the killer”s request. That”s the real troubling truth.
He is one of these people who can have selfless love and compassion for people they don't even know but they nurture a deep burning hatred for their own people. And they aren't even aware of it. And can't be made aware of it. This illness has been pervasive in the entertainment industry, especially among musicians for a long time. Why is that?
@Juan Perez Yep. I know a few famous musicians and because of my work I've been around many. It's incredible how much they do drugs. What's more incredible to me is a certain kind of soft mentality that comes with the territory. It isn't sensitivity it's more of a feel good facade to cover up their shortcomings. I swear if it wasn't for music most of them would be mass murderers.
Congrats: you just scraped the bottom of every anti-John Lennon trope, rumor and moral criticism all into one video. You omitted everything about his world-changing talent, vision, and hope for humanity. To a murdered man, unable to defend himself. And you committed the ultimate sin: you spoke the name of his assassin, giving him exactly what he wanted. Shame on you, Grunge. Endless shame.
Lmao what a dirty fan boy. Of course he didn't point out all the stuff you mentionned because we all know it already, that's the stuff everyone talks about I love John but he sure had an undeniable dark side that we must admit I mean there's literally the word "troubling" in the title, what the fuck did you expect?
Classic narcissist; self absorbed, egotistical and violent. The writer and performer of "Imagine" lived at the Dakota in NYC and had a beachfront mansion in Palm Beach. "Imagine no possessions...". Yeah, right.

They didn't mention that he left Julian nothing in his will and Oko gave him zero and treated him like dirt. I hope that when she passes (probably soon) Sean will step up and financially help his half brother.
Sean will NOT do that and I doubt Julian cares anymore. Unearned money only causes trouble anyway. Julian is a fine man and that is worth more than all the money in the world.
Julian & Yoko are are good terms now stopped the drama. Sean is very talented as is Julian. Sean makes his own money to and works hard. Rumors are lame.
The problem with videos about John Lennon is that they can only shed light on what was a very short life. We never got the chance to see what John Lennon would have done with the rest of his life, his family, his friends and his band mates. Many of his friends and family have stated that John Lennon was about to mend all his relationships with family and friends when he was assassinated by he who shall remain nameless. Also, as a fiftysomething man, I can tell you with absolute certainty that a man at 40, John Lennon's age when he was murdered, is still quite immature. To see what I mean, look at any of the Beatles at that age, and you'll see just how immature they were at 40 and how different they are today (or, in George Harrison's case, up until 2001).
How convenient that he was about to mend ALL his relationships. You really believe that nonsense you just wrote? He was a shitty person who happened to be talented.
Stop excusing that kind of behavior. Playing the blame game and hoping to pull peoples heart strings isn't going to change the fact that what can be done today shouldn't be left for tomorrow. Tomorrow may be too late. The man was already toxic, he simply found another toxic woman to bring into the mix..and yes that ono lady needs to get right with Christ asap. ..at least she still has time. That guy that killed lenjon obviously forgot thou shalt not kill. ..
It's amazing that all of you knew John Lennon personally. I mean, how else could you possibly know that he was a shitty person who happened to be talented? And how would you know that he was already toxic? Wow, you must know everything about John Lennon.
I just read Cynthia Lennons book “John” What a complete arsehole! I cannot understand why he left her and Julian for Yoko. The LSD and heroin must have had a lot to do with it. I see early Beatles era John and Yoko-era John as two different people. I know which one I prefer.
John wanted a strong woman, and Cynthia just wasn't. He wanted a woman who could be a lover and a mother at the same time due to his lack of motherly love throughout his childhood. He also called Yoko "mother" and phoned her daily during his lost weekend that he wanted to come back to her. Although I truly believe John changed his self centered ways toward the end of his life, watch "The Day John Lennon Died" on YT and you'll know what I mean.
LSD isn't an addictive, hedonistic drug like heroin is, people who've never been around the drug scene really need to stop just naming things like it means something. People love to talk about the LSD and the weed, but those were never really the big issues for these musicians, it was way more often barbiturates and alcohol. Despite the differences in their severity, drugs like alcohol, heroin, Xanax and other sedative pills, are there to distract you and make you "forget" your problems temporarily. Acid and mushrooms are some potent anti-addiction drugs because they make you THINK, really hard, about what's wrong and right about your behavior. I still credit a couple of trips for getting me off of heroin and Xanax. The trip literally turned the people near me into a metaphor for right and wrong behaviors, my choices were colored with feelings, of righteousness and beauty, or of darkness and self-harm: which did I want to pick?
John was a victim. Abandonment, neglect, these are forms of abuse. An abused child will become an abusive adult, until they find the way to change themselves and heal. He did heal and was honest about his early bad behavior. We never got to see the great guy he could've become because some idiot murdered him.
@@davidstair9657, Captain Obvious, he abused other women too, not just Cynthia, you know. Also, acknowledge the fact that this was a time where women had no rights and men could abuse them all the time and get away it; acknowledge all the other men at the time that beat their wives and did heroin and abandoned their families; acknowledge all the sexism and misogyny in the 50's and 60's and all of the above that I wrote that women have had to go through all throughout millennia and still now after you wrote this comment, since you're fighting for women's rights. @@brownsugarv2935 Poor John, he had no choice BUT to beat his various women because history. It was good that he learned his lesson, though. I would argue that beating women, at least those that are in a relationship, was not and still is not the norm. My Grandpa never beat grandma... actually, both sets of grandparents were kind one to another. I don't think my great grandparents either. I do remember that my great grandpa beat the hell out the one guy that was found out to have beaten my great aunt. These were all farmers, war vets, fairly poor. No, I think wife beaters were an exception throughout history. John was a jerk. He was raised by his mother and aunt. He knew better. He inflicted pain on a weaker person through his fists and kicking. I'm glad that he admitted it, though.... I think he should have owned it more.
There is no excuse for the way John treated Julian. A parent's job is to protect and raise their child to be better than they were; and yes, some of us don't get ideal role models, but that is NO excuse to punish your child. If anything, that should be what propels you to be a better person. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis once remarked: "If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do matters very much."
horrible comments and people on this site, glad you are not my parent, he was a troubled soul, like many, i’m off to imagine something better for the world
I could not agree more. My wife and I had less than ideal childhoods. However i am sure that most people can say that. Especially those who grew up in the 70's when the child abuse of today was just a daily occourance. However, we tried our best to not do as we had done to us. We were not perfect. However, we did try our best to raise our children with a more loving and stable environment than what we had. We made mistakes but we have terrific children with wonderful children of their own. ✌
John had a rough childhood but he made something of himself I think he did alright I think revolution is his best rocker and I want you she's so heavy is one my favorite

An older friend, the Beatles' former personal assistant Neil Aspinall, once heard Lennon moaning about the costs of running his business empire. 'Imagine no possessions, John,' Aspinall said. Lennon glared back. 'It's only a bloody song,' he said.

@@rosiecallender2679 That's far more subjective, and highly debatable than most people today would like to believe or perceive. It depends on the reasons, circumstances, situational contexts. If it has to for racist, sexist, homophobic, or discriminatory reasons or purposes, usually it's environmental or it's a learned behavior that someone picked up or maybe subconsciously always sort of believed in some fashion but became more direct and visible. There are occasions when it's understandable or maybe even acceptable for one person to hate another, like in extreme-type situations in a wife or husband walking in to,their house and finding their spouse in bed with someone else, and this sort of behavior has been ongoing for significant period of time. Or if some random psychopath/sociopath shoots a bunch of people and one of my relatives was one of the victims and forensic psychologists will tell you that both sociopaths and psychopaths are incapable of showing or feeling remorse, or sympathy or empathy for their crimes. Ted Bundy and the Green River Killer are two notable examples.
In fairness, Lennon considered her an equal as an artist. Not as a singer or musician. Lennon fell in love with her passion and audacious approach to expression. Although having her in the studio and equating her input with the other Beatles was very off-putting.
John realised towards the end of his life he had been a terrible father to Julian and was really trying to bond with his son. He began phoning him more often (he actually played the whole Double Fantasy album to Julian down the phone before it was released and wanted Julian's opinion and thoughts on it), for his 17th birthday he wanted to give the gift of a painting of the two of them. Near his death he told Julian to look out for a white feather whenever he would pass away and Julian would know his dad is fine and he's looking out for him. Julian was presented with a white feather by a tribe and he believes it really was a sign from his father like John said all those years ago, so Julian created a charity and called it the white feather foundation. Also, John was writing diaries in the mid 70s onwards and he told his personal assistant Fred Seaman in Bermuda 1980 that if anything was to happen to himself in the near future then he'd want Julian to have his diaries as he felt they could help Julian get to know his father better and John felt Julian deserved to know more about him. When John did die, Fred tried taking the diaries back to England to give them to Julian as John wanted but Yoko got him arrested for stealing property and Yoko got them back. Julian has never seen those diaries, even though it was what John wanted. A quote from John in 1980 is: "I hadn't seen my first son grow up and now here's a 17 year old man on thd phone talking about motorbikes. I was not there for his childhood at all. I was on tour, I don't know how the game works, but there's a price to pay for innattention to childen. And if I don't give him attention from zero to five, then i'm damn well gonna have to give it to him from sixteen to twenty, because it's owed. It's like the law of the universe." Also, Julian said in 1988 in an interview for a documentary called Imagine about John he said "There was no wall facing us anymore, but it had been knocked down and we could actually (pretends to be on the phone) 'hi dad I'd like to come and see you is that okay?' 'Yeah'. It's hard to explain emotions in dealing with that situation especially when we were getting so close."

Most of this seems accurate and most of this sort of material can be found in almost anybody's life. I don't know anyone who hasn't played the fool, used people, proved the hypocrite...most of us do it on a smaller scale cause we are not rich and famous...so imagine if many of your own mistakes in life were made public...how would you feel? How would you react? How would you explain yourself? After that experience, you might cut Lennon a bit more slack.
While that's a great observation, by your own statement most people have that condition. Even so, Lennon sticks out like a sore thumb. Me, you, other musicians, anybody...we have that baseline and yet still, Lennon stands taller than most. Sorry, no pass.
@@tiffanylyons4474 I will say however that Lennon must have had "good" in him more than we know too, since he did sincerely write about those things in song. I guess the question is: "how much did Lennon strive to change those things about himself that weren't so admirable?". He must have to some degree. It could be that he never got to achieve his goal of being a better person, but he was on that path.
I appreciate your reasonable comment on my own hopefully reasonable observation. But the rich and/or famous are at the end of the day mere mortal flesh. It is the unreasonable assumption that because someone 'stands taller than most' they are to be held to a higher moral standard. Why? Talent exists free of moral values. Even Julian said, with a lot of frustration, that Lennon was killed when everything was fine between them. But those good months did not erased the bad years, Julian wasn’t telling a lie when he said that John was an hypocrite, because he was talking about the man he knew as a kid, not the guy that was a real to father to Sean. i always been skeptical about john lennon when i learned about when he said beatles are more popular than jesus. i think this is very bad from him to say such thing. john was ignoring his first kid julian he had with his first wife for most of the time after he left her to make a new family with yoko ono from that i been reading. very sad to learn this. the picture in a video shows john wearing a shirt with the phrase Working class hero , when in fact he made money by making music and having fun which has nothing to do with working class. he never really had to work a real job. more i read and learn about john lennon , more i am sad and find out he was not such a good man. yoko ono was also very bad with her voice and what she had done like shout for minutes in a art museum (they call this art to shout?) or make weird stuff. they were strange really. it is sad that some dont say the truth about this. they are not a good example to follow john and yoko with their drug abuse and weird way of life and weird stuff they did. it dont change the fact that beatles were a good band and make nice music but for the personal life of john i think this was not really the best thing.

He was absolutely, horribly abusive to Cyn and Julian. I agreed with Julian when he said that John was a hypocrite and it hurts me to know that a man who wrote such lovely songs could be so mean to his own wife and child. Bless them both.
You don’t know what mean is.
4. I'm not "saying what I want" about John Lennon. It's a FACT that he was abusive to both of his wives and his son Julian.
You just gotta learn to seperate the art from the artist my guy. John Lennon maybe a bad guy in his life but he also made some fire tunes

The problem with videos about John Lennon is that they can only shed light on what was a very short life.
Paul later said he grew cold with cythia and dissatisfied with her around rubber soul. Guess young love isnt always the right kind of love.
Love you John ❤️🌟
Shock horror. John Lennon was an imperfect human like the rest of us.
You beat your wife, do heroin, abandoned your family, and broke up the Beatles? He was a real jerk. Not everyone is or have to be a jerk.
The correct thing for you to say is: most men at this time were jerks and they didn't have to be.
Right! "Peace songs" don't ever make up for what we do to our children!
People idolised him but I think he’s a twat
horrible comments and people on this site, glad you are not my parent, he was a troubled soul, like many, i’m off to imagine something better for the world
I could not agree more. ✌
It just means he's human. No excuse, but the average "bloke" can't handle mega stardom, millions of dollars, and being under constant public scrutiny.
John had a rough childhood but he made something of himself I think he did alright I think revolution is his best rocker and I want you she's so heavy is one my favorite
This just in, he was a regular dude who aspired to be better, to be more evolved than he was. He lived in the time of james bond.

People are too quick to pull out the pitchforks and judge this guy, he went through so much shit, cut the man some slack and realize people arent entirely good and evil. Many people are shitty parents or have shitty parents. Lennon just happened to be famous...
An older friend, the Beatles' former personal assistant Neil Aspinall, once heard Lennon moaning about the costs of running his business empire. 'Imagine no possessions, John,' Aspinall said. Lennon glared back. 'It's only a bloody song,' he said.
Which it was
🤭
But it became famous as much for the ideaology as it did for the tune and his voice
So that interesting that John later said it’s only a song!
His big mistake when he said the Beatles were more popular than Jesus...he lost his life soon after that....

@leah rose No one can make anyone hate. It's has to be their choice.
@@mr.marcus3123 Lennon was on a lot of drugs.
It's like the law of the universe."
Also, Julian said in 1988 in an interview for a documentary called Imagine about John he said "There was no wall facing us anymore, but it had been knocked down and we could actually (pretends to be on the phone) 'hi dad I'd like to come and see you is that okay?' 'Yeah'.

Excellent point and certainly something to think about.
I understand Lennon's early life was bad; as an adult he behaved poorly; then righted himself towards the end. He admitted to his mistakes and tried to move on. What more is there for a person to do?
Lenon was a hypocrite through and through. I have zero respect for him

I don't get the people who feel a need to think Lennon was a 100% garbage person. There are some truly unflattering things about him, particularly the type of father he was, but I don't get why someone has to be completely bad or completely good. I don't think he could have written and sang "Imagine" if there wasn't a part of him that did feel it.

Everybody should read Cynthia Lennon's book about her husband. It's called "John" and frankly, I think she was far too kind in her commentary. As a “peace crusader,” he was a farce, he was a multi-millionaire bully. He was violent, he hit is wife and kids. I am forgetting this man, but I will always love his great songs anyway.
Julian's mention of his father's hypocrisy is one reason I am weary of celebs making political statements. For years I was a chauffeur in Los Angeles before Uber and Lyft crippled the limo industry. I can tell many of you watching this horror stories about the behavior of many stars.
Please tell us.
"celebrities" are masters of illusion. look at that freak we have in the WH.
@@FriendofDorothy exactly.
They’re human beings..get off your judgemental horse,dude.
I had a friend who's uncle drove a cab in NYC. One night Alice Cooper got in his cab and asked him to haul ass through traffic to get him to a performance on time, mission accomplished. A couple of weeks later in the mail he received a framed photo and thank-you letter from Cooper.
Lennon was a legend, period!!!!!
They asked Julian Lennon what it was like to be John Lennon’s son. Julian answered “ I don’t know I only met him a few times”. Despicable human being.
Thank goodness for small favors. By all accounts John was a regular POS.
John split hell wide open the day he died! He rejected Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior....John.14:6
Listen to Now And Then!!!
maybe its just me but I cant help but hear so much regret in his voice in the lyrics and in the melody
I think if John hadn't been murdered he would have certainly been close to Julian in later years.
My favorite grunge band: The Beatles
