- Today we are swapping a 1990-1991 Acura Integra manual B18A1 into a 1988 automatic civic. To make the swap emissions compliant you'll have to first start with contacting your local authority to verify any swaps legality. For us we needed an engine equal to or newer than the chassis we plan to install it. We also need to match the emissions components to those needed for the newer engine rather than the year of the car. Using an engine and OEM computer from an OBD0 era allowed for an easy transplant. Great video Robert. Very in depth. Personally, I’ve never liked the wiring jumper hacks without clutch switches most people do when doing an auto to manual conversion. On my EK, I sourced the under dash harness from a manual car so the clutch switches were plug and play. I wish someone made a shifter hole plate like you made. I ended cutting out the shifter area from an manual EK, trimmed it to fit on top of my tunnel and bolted it down.
The trick is not losing your mind over the doodads🤯

They make a jumper harness for the dizzy I had got one off of Amazon for like $15 but your way of doin is also good to cuz an old harness like is good to take the loom off cuz my harness needed a lot of attention cuz a lot of the wires were cracked and splitting so I had to cuz an resplice them cuz I didn’t want them grounding and shorting anything out or catching on fire cuz it happened to my buddies EF sedan his whole engine bay and motor was torched cuz he had an old harness that caught on fire

That first start was killing me. I was literally yelling at the screen so you would hear me saying to stop and check the wiring. I could smell the starter from here. Haha

But the only thing that does suck for doin a B swap in an EF chassis with hasport mounts is that when you have an alternator go bad there only 2 ways of getting it out is either removing the intake manifold which is a pain the slightly easier way is to jack up the driver side and remove the driver side CV axle 😪
Da9 is like that too but I’ve been breaking axles in my 91 DA GSR Turbo because it can’t handle the power so it’s second nature to remove axles lol
@@kaybevang536 lol 😂 when I had my all motor build B20/V with high comp pistons I would slap drag radials on and tear up boots first pass lol I got pretty quick at swapping axles out too you to do them in like 15 minutes in the pits at the racetrack awww ☺️ bad times but good memories lol

But I was lucky I had a 91 EF Si in Tahitian green straight body no rust the A6 engine was trash the whole crank case was full of coolant the 1 at swap I did was swapping in a JDM D15B5 and converted it to OBD1 and once it was running I noticed the trans was shot as well I was gonna rebuild it but I ended up finding a 88 acura integra LS with a ZC and I used the trans which for that year was a limited slip cable D series trans then I chipped the P28 and she was a quick little beast once that engine went out after about 2 years from beating on her I swapped in a B18A but it still wasn’t as quick as before then did an LS VTEC awe I miss that car 🥲

Hey, I have a 1990 EF hatch. Same set up as you. Unfortunately the starter cut relay is “bad”. Where would you wire that in? The car also doesn’t have that button for the clutch, so you don’t need to push it down to start the car.
Would a b18b1 pass emissions on a 90 civic? I imagine I need to change obdo into OBD2.
