- One of the most important things you’ll do with your motorcycle is break in the new engine. We walk you through our process step by step on our 2023 BMW M1000RR Competition.
Next video: First Service
Great video. People don't understand how important this is. The first miles are the most important. I just started the break-in on my M1000RR. I'm converting from my beloved Ducati Panigale V4 Speciale. I was super impressed on the first ride, especially with the smoothness of the quick shifter.
now all i need is 40k to buy a m1000rr to break it in
Wow.. I did not know that the BMWs have autoshift?? Very smooth..
So happy for you congratulations 🎉
That bike is insane to see in person.. the issues that M1K has had this year is insane. Ppl are getting rid of their bikes or always in the shop
I love !! BT moto!!! I am pretty sure letting it idle for 5 minutes without blipping the throttle is really bad for the rings as no oily air is/would be rushing past to cool and lubricate them. Thanks.
Thanks for the info🙌🙌🤜🤛
Perfect timing. Just got mine Saturday.
Ordered a low m seat and the lowering kit and stage 1 tuner. 🫶🏻 appreciate all yells hard work.
Did you order those from the manufacturer (BMW), as I am 5.8 but I have thicker legs and that extends further more the distance to the ground and I have some worries that the bike can be a little tall for me?
I just picked mine up and it was about 20+ miles from my place. While I did vary the load, but not to this degree while on the way home. I plan on breaking it in properly tomorrow. Any concern regarding my first 20 miles home? I feel like I'm over stressing about it because of what bike this is, because every bike and car I've had since new has never consumed oil haha.
Wow.. Sana All 🙏
❤💛💚boomin fam booming
Dang, who installed the dash screen protector??? 😧
Use a few drops of distilled water + a tiny bit of dawn soap under the film.
🤩🤩🤩
Thanks for these videos! Next week I'll be doing the break in procedure on my M1000RR Competition. Let me know about your tyres... That is a pretty racey tire, how is it holding up? I'm considering buying a pair of Metzler's, swapping those in for the break in, drive those tyres until they are shot and then install the stock racy tyres... I don't want to flat spot the sticky tires the bike shipped with. What do you think?
Usually just get supercorsas for ours
@@BT_Motojust wondering if I can order bt tune for my bmw s1000rr 2020 and I want both stages i know I can’t get second stage unless I do first but I’m in Australia am I able still buy it or is it only for US thanks in advance
@@hardscope7744 we ship handhelds worldwide and almost daily to Australia 👌
How about the oil and filter change? Wonder what oil comes from the factory?
We use factory on this one
Is it alright to go on and off 100% throttle and with engine brake, or is that going a little overboard?
Varying loads with engine braking and heat cycling is what’s important. There’s no universally accepted way to accomplish that but this has worked for us. 100% on and off with the engine at operating temp should be fine as well.
@rogerwilliams6341 feels larger but relatively comfy considering it’s a super bike. Great bike to ride
I just got my M1000XR and am using the same way exactly 👍 but from inside the engine is the MRR same as the MXR the way it’s built and it’s all M 2 piston ring motor
Whats your weight if youre 6'3 sir?
You think it's best to do the engine break in with bmw's limiter on there still, or to have them remove it so that more rpms can be used for the break in?
No choice if you want to keep the warranty intact
@@BT_Moto If we don't care about the warranty, would it be best to remove it and break it in using all the rpms, varying rpms and loads, right off the bat?
@@VroomNPew sure, that would be the best scenario and how I’ve broken in bikes in the past with no break-in limit.
in Canada, if you ride like this at 120 mph (192km/h) you will be arrested, go to prison, big ticket and bike confiscated. So 6 gear and going to stay max 6000 rpm no way.
is it legal to drive that fast in California?
Same here in Australia!
Lols
No one cares in the usa people go 150+mph some bikers 200mph
Since you bought it brand new does it have any issue so far ? I watch motomillion and said that he got a engine failure pop up screen within the break in period
Zero issues with any of our BMW’s
@@BT_MotoI get my 24 s1000rr this Saturday and have a 375 mile ride home with it.
After watching this I plan to make three stops 30 miles apart to help insure a good break in.
Thanks for the video.
First 20 miles, DONE! GONE! 😆
I get it unlocked and flashed. Then Take to track to “break it in” 😅
So what you're saying is DON'T go 175 the first time you ride your new bike? 😏😂
Not possible
@@stephenweewoo it sure is. Trust me 😉
@@Naldo_S1K Please explain, first time you picked it up you went 175
@@Naldo_S1K it is 100% not possible. They are locked at 8k rpm until the first service. Around 120 is the most you can do in 6th gear.
@@gtomachine710 you know that you can have the limiter removed BEFORE the 1st service, right? Like they do in WSBK. And no, it doesn't void the warranty. You can call Pandora Motorsports in Chattanooga, TN or Woolys in Atlanta, GA to confirm. I wasn't waiting for 600 miles 😂
I feel like this is not necessarily, just ride the thing normal
It's totally necessary especially with only 2 piston rings. Broke mine in the same way and not a drop of oil burnt. Done it the same way for all my bikes.
Cop - Did you know you were doing 120 mph? Rider - Yeah, the guy on the internet was doing it during the break in period video. Cop - Your license is suspended, so go sell that bike with 50 miles on it! Don't do it on public roads kids. And, if you're 6'-3" you will not be comfortable on this bike. Get a GS or Multi.
A gs or a multi ?😂
No.
Some people want a sport bike 😌
Weird. I did this today with my s1000rr
Maybe I’m lucky though. I didn’t see one cop haha.
Staying off the quick shifter during break in is a pretty important thing that the dealers don't warn you about! A fresh engine with a fresh clutch will trash your oil extremely fast if you don't hand shift up&down during your break in! I did my first oil change at 100 miles on my 22 M1K with oem everything and took it in to the shop at 554miles to have it unlocked!
My oil at 100 miles looked like 💩 compared to the oil at 554miles. I had about the same amount of debris on the magnet but the oil was way cleaner!
😂😂
Where's the mirrors on this new bike ⁉️🤔😳😳😳
