just so you know 650ib, those comments you get from people about them having higher octane rating and what-not are usually not accounting for the RON measurement system against what we use in the states R+M/2. 93 octane rating here in the U.S. is equivalent to 98 RON (Euro measurement), and in actuality with ethanol contents being significantly lower in Europe than in the U.S. you will find that a 93 octane rating fuel here in the U.S. could even squeek up to the equivalent of a 100 RON rating.
Always a treat to hear the excitement on Professor Ib's voice when unboxing a new toy.
Professor Ib should be very careful that air intake might swallow a bird and bring the bike down😂😂

Bike looks amazing. What a machine! Fuel Octane is one of the most misunderstood concepts out there in the gearhead world. Essentially, higher octane fuel burns slower so when I see people at the track dumping race fuel into a stock motor I just shake my head. Congrats on the new bike!
As well as when they mentioned they only have 93 octane in the US, but other countries have righter, that's misleading, they use a different rating, thus different numbers, the octanes are similar
@@corruptsage9154 Yep - see this way too often. US 93 is around EU 99 afaik.
That's because higher octane is less prone to predetonation which happens on track because the bike is ran at its hottest
@@pubuju5254 Partially true.....higher octane fuel is less prone to detonation because it burns slower. When you compress oxygen it heats up. So, when you modify your engine with high compression pistons, forced induction, etc...the oxygen being compressed gets hotter and hotter. To avoid detonation you run intercooler's and higher octane fuel's to support the increased compression from your engine mods. Doesn't have much to do with on track vs. street it's more about modifications to your engine that make it run hotter in all conditions.
Well that’s completely wrong..I wonder if you are from a country where there is only shitty fuel.
If you buy a bike like that here in Germany or any high performance engine in any vehicle here in Germany for that matter, they tell you that you should always get the highest octane fuel possible.
And I can tell you from my experience with cars (AMGs specifically) it’s the way to go.
But: if you’re always using low octane fuel for thousands of miles and then for one day track use, pump high octane some parts of the engine are more prone to fail, because of the sudden rise in power. Which does not mean it broke because of the power, it just did not break before because of less wear over time.

Just think that this exact model in slightly modified superstock trim now holds the IOMTT lap record @136+ mph. The full fat superbike did a 135mph lap,not sure if Hickman had any reserve on the superbike but didn't need it,anyway the M1000rr is a beast.

Regarding fuel octane, other countries just have different method or system of rating, it may appear higher in other countries but they are actually essentially the same. In our country we use RON while US uses AKI rating.

Because of you and Dylan I'm now getting back on a BMW in the form of the 2024 M1000rr. Ya'll are bad influences and I love it.
IB, there are gas stations in most every state that sell race fuel from the pump. Usually SUNOCO. They often go up to, and even beyond 100 octane. FYI. You can go there with a large drum barrel and fill up!
Next year, I need to experience unboxing new bikes lol. Each bike I bought new, they was already out box, dash screen protector removed and all that type of stuff.
Next year I shall not be denied that ! 😅

This is my dream bike, but I wish they offered DDC at least as an option for those who want it. I know it’s supposed to be track-oriented, but it has creature comforts for the street like cruise control and heated grips, doesn’t it?

Chardon Oil and Speedway in Eastlake offer Cam 2 100 octane. Been a few years, but it was $8 a gallon.

yours are 93 but in AKI. In europe we use RON. 93 AKI is somewhat 98 Ron. It's the maximum sold here in pt.
The bike have the adaptive headlights if i’m not wrong..when you turn the handle the lights will slightly move

In my country the base fuel is 95 :D And for premium we put 100 octane with additives.

I am #1 allocation at my decent size dealer to get my 2023 M1000RR, I ordered one day before you did back in October 2022 - however I did not pay $40K CASH ha ha ha, and I sure the hell didn't get $10K back for being IB650 ha ha! However now that you got yours.... I'm hoping to see mine within 30 days or so. PLEASE get your New M1000RR over to BT Brentuning asap and fill us all in on his feelings on this New BEAST of a Bike! Have the Master Tuner Dyno it ASAP - We ALL enjoyed your last outing to Brentuning Greatly. I love hearing Very Knowledgeable people tell all! Keep up the good! BEAUTIFUL BIKE !!!!!!!

The reason the us has 93 maximum is because the measurements they use are different. So 93 Ron in us is like 98 Ron in the UK. FYI

Octane number in USA is described in Pump Octane number which is lower than Research Octane number in other countries...
So theoretically 93 Pump Octane = 100 Research Octane
93 PON = 100 RON

Octane is measured differently in North America versus Europe. 93 in N/A is the same as 98 in Europe.
Make sure when you go to BT-Tuning You film 1 thru 6 gear power and torq Readings STOCK Bike, Then BT Tune it with all STOCK pipes etc Same Dyno Test, THEN change Exhaust Pipe, Same Test. I am VERY interested in how much the Muffler REALLY effect Power band. I am Watching OO - Thanks ib650

93 octane in the US is equal to 98 in europe. We do not rate them the same. US and Canada use the anti-knock index (AKI) while Europe use Research Octane Number (RON).
Im sure octane is measured diffrently in diffrent countries. I think your 93 in u.s is equivilant to 98 or 99 in uk.
