- Today I will show you one of the easiest ways to cook a whole chicken. I am cooking a whole chicken in the slow cooker. The texture is similar to rotisserie chicken. This is gonna be good!

Yup I'll be doing this one tomorrow. As a caregiver for my wife, I love low maintenance crockpot meal preps. Beats the hell out of frozen food...
I use butter or oil to add to it then slather it with the seasoning and onions and lemons shoved under skin
This has been my preferred way to roast chicken for years. I don’t like the chicken sitting in its own juices as it cooks because it gets mushy. I set the chicken on a rack that keeps it an inch off the bottom. Lots of nice juices for gravy etc. i sometimes put onions, celery and parsley inside for more flavor.
Setting the chicken on a layer of onions & celery is also an option, in case anyone doesn't have a rack that'll fit their crockpot.
@@silvernblack21 Also placing it on top of foil balls or rolls or whatever shape. The point is for the chicken not to touch it's own liquid
I use a small glass (oven safe) pie plate that’s upside down. I did the foil balls just to test it. Now I just invert the plate and put the chicken on top.
Good to know. Health reasons have to stay away from a lot of fats
The juices still rise regardless of when I use a rack or set the chicken on a bed of vegetables
The first time I tried this recipe I slid a spatula under the chicken and it was so tender the whole bird caved in, the wings and legs fell off on their own. It was the most tender and juicy chicken I've ever made and I make tender chicken. Thank you so much for the recipe and much love.💖
I do this, demeat the chicken, then put bones back in the crockpot and fill with water and make bone broth overnight.
I do the same! I also add some veges that are past their prime like onion, carrots, celery and any herbs. The broth is so flavorful from the seasoning that I drink it like tea with a squeeze of lemon after removing the fat after it sits overnight.
I like this suggestion of adding water to make bone broth overnight. I love to add sage and a bay leaf to my veggies as the whole chicken cooks in the crockpot.
Just started roasting my chicken this way a couple of years ago and absolutely LOVE IT! I do put it under the broiler after I take it out just to crisp the skin! But the most tender and juiciest chicken ever!! My wings and drumsticks used to always DRY out on me in the oven - but not with this method!! I do turkey breast this way now too! Thanks for sharing!! 😊
I would have been so tempted to put some of that cooked off grease into the cooked rice
You’re a beautiful soul! Thank you for this recipe!
I just cooked a turkey breast in my Crockpot. It smelled like thanksgiving. I went to the store for rolls and they don't sell them this time of year. I bought the sourdough bread and wow so yummy. I will try your list of seasonings next week on a chicken.
I never thought about doing it this way, but makes so much sense. Thanks so much for always putting out your videos. I bet your house always smells amazing :)
Lol i never thought of doing this either and im thinking why have i never done this before, its a no brainer lol
Me neither. It's an excellent idea for the times you don't want to heat up the kitchen.
My kids gave me an enormous oval crockpot several years ago and I can fit two chickens inside. Now to look for a sale! Thanks for sharing!
Thnx Angelica. I still use crockpot bags, I’m old fashioned. The method you used saves a lot of kitchen time. 😊
Thank you so much for this recipe. I'm new to crock pot cooking and love a baked chicken. Will be trying this recipe this week.
This looks so simple and delicious!
This is the recipe I was looking for from you! Thank you ☺️
I’ve wondered how to do this!
I’ll be trying this out soon!
Thanks! 😋
Thanks for the recipe I can’t wait to make it❣️
Definitely going to try this. Spot on with the spices.
Oh my word! Made this today and it was absolutely the best! Seasoning was on spot! Fell off the bone goodness! Thanks, Angelica!
I want to try this recipe but I'm worried that since the seasoning is on the skin that the meat won't have all the flavor like the skin will have. My husband only eats crispy chicken skin so I'm afraid the seasoning will be a waste. What was your experience with the flavor of the meat?
@@cynthiakeller5954I know I’m late but I’d suggest cutting the chest down the middle and seasoning the inside as well. If you want crispy skin maybe put it in the broiler after
@@teresamills7146 That's an excellent idea, thanks!
I’ve never cooked a whole chicken in the crockpot. I want to try it too now. Thanks for sharing
YES THE IDEA DOES APPEAL TO ME NOW. I COULD STAR THE CHICKEN AND VEGIES WHEN I GET UP AND HAVE IT IN THE LATE ARVO.
Mmm... looks mouth watering 😋
I usually lift the skin and put butter and Lemmon slices in it,
I love to cook chicken like this when HEB has them in the ad. I usually get a couple of them cook them take the meat off the bone and put it in freezer bags and stick in the freezer for pasta dishes and casseroles. You can usually get 2-3 meals out of one chicken.
Do you rinse the chicken first??
@@rosemarytalavera3756 No some people do, but the USDA advises against it because it ends up spreading bacteria everywhere.
Use a crock pot liner and lift it out when done.
Great idea, too bad I already started it without lol wasn't thinking never did whole chicken this way! Thank you!
I need to do this this weekend.
Thanks for the recipe.
It looks delicious!
I like your honesty. Thanks
Oh how delicious! I'm definately going to make this. Thank you so much! 👌😋😋😋😍😁❤️
I can’t wait to try this!
I'm trying this idea this weekend with small golden potatoes. Thanks.
I made this tonight. Delicious. Thank you.
Looks delicious!!!
Thank you for showing me this, I’m going to cook a chicken today, for the first time, in my slow cooker. Loved your video xx
Looks sumptuous love it’s you teach me so much.

This is such a beautiful recipe...mama explained it so simply...
This is exactly what I’m looking for. You explained it very well thank you.
I always put veggies in with it. I'm definitely going to try this way. Thank you 😊

Looks yummy, gonna have to try this
This looks amazing! It will be tonight's dinner❤. Thanks!
Great tips.
This perfect for me! I need the chicken for a pot pie recipe and this is an easy way to get juicy meat. I use the drippings and carcass to make some stock.
Trying that today--thanks.
Yummy looks so good
Definitely trying ❤
Thank you for sharing this Angelika have a blessed day stay safe and healthy. Great way to do a whole chicken. I'm making this recipe yummy. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏
Oh god that looks so good ! I'm doing this tonight I have exactly the same crock pot ! 👍
Can you PLEASE do one with a Turkey! Thanksgiving is around the corner and I need other options cause my Oven is out. 😅
Just FYI. I’ve done turkey breasts in the crockpot. I used different seasonings. It turned out great. Use your favorite spices.
@@charlottecampbell417 No I'm it talking about Turkey Breast in talking about a whole Butterball Turkey.
@@happygenerously6008 Crockpots are not large enough to do a whole turkey. Parts are your best bet if you want to do a slow cooker turkey. Just make sure to brown them in oil in a frying pan first.
Oh yeahh!!
Do a turkey on the bq u will never go back to oven ! If u have one ! It amazing ❤
Looks good. I'll give it a try 😋
My new favorite way to prepare chicken!
This has been my favorite way to cook whole chickens this year. I love the way the flavor turns out and the meat is so juicy. Not having the crispy skin doesn’t bother us as we don’t eat chicken skin usually. If we want crispy skin we have other recipes for that. Also I love to do this and shred the whole chicken and freeze to meal prep for lazy days! I usually add veg on the bottom if it’s for dinner but now I want to try this seasoning blend you made up for it, sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing we love your videos and recipes in our home! ❤
I made a double batch of the seasoning to use for future cooks. It works really well and saves money I would spend on a seasoning from Penzey.
I want to try this recipe but I'm worried that since the seasoning is on the skin that the meat won't have all the flavor like the skin will have. My husband only eats crispy chicken skin so I'm afraid the seasoning will be a waste. What was your experience with the flavor of the meat?
Great instructions! Exactly what I was looking for, and you have the same crock pot as me!
yummy, i'll try tonight, easy peezy
God Bless you and your family and that chicken looks very tasty and very delicious
Hi A!!! Oh... I really like this recipe. I like using my Crock Pots. I have never made a whole chicken in the CP before. I will be doing this real soon. The chicken look so...delish... Great video!!!...
Going to make this tomorrow. Will use the drippings for gravy. Looks absolutely delicious!
thanks for another easy to follow recipe that is also affordable! God Bless.
Cooking it this way is a great way to save the fat and use it for cooking later.
Using the chicken fat to fry potato pancakes or sliced potatoes is amazing.
I'm gonna try it 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
Beautiful 😍 thank you for video
Doing this on Sunday my oven isn't working so thanks very much and I love chicken !!!
You can also make an amazing "rotisserie" chicken in an air fryer. Breast side down for 30 min then flip for 25. It's delicious 😋
What temp?
I was going to ask the same thing. If like to try this. I use my air fryer aaallllll the time
Magic
Lovely❤
Just tried this. Added some extra spices. Family was supposed to take it out and do the rest while I was at work. Came home with it set to warm after hours and it was dry af, burnt and flavourless. So much for a chicken gravy from the drippings. Will try again and do it on my own. I guess I’ll be enjoying this on my own next time…
glad l watched your video and followed your recipe, it was delicious, no need for oil etc x
that yard bird be looking so good!!!!😍
Looks yummy. Ty
This is a great way to cook a chicken,it would also be great for chicken soup.. thank you so much for sharing your recipe 😋 hv a great day family 💕🥰😘❤️🧡💙
Thank you!
Iam trying this thanks for sharing. 👍♥️♥️♥️♥️🤗
Yummy.
The chicken looks yummy
Great video
I always use a crockpot bag for easy clean up especially when I cook macaroni in it
Your chicken looks delicious!!!
I’ll have to try this one! When it’s hot I refuse to use my oven because my house gets so hot. I love good crockpot recipes.
I like the idea. I would try putting it in the air fryer or broiler for a few minutes to see if it would crisp. It looks delicious.
That’s what i’m doin tommorrow thank you
Looks wonderful and so tender, falling apart. I have never attempted to make a whole chicken before. But I do believe the Crock-Pot would be the best avenue.
YUMMY FOOD SIMPLY MAMA COOKS
New subscriber I love this recipe I have a crock pot I didnt use for a long time I will try this recipe
Wow, the chicken seasoning is wonderful, and this an excellent cooking solutions. I will look for it. You are beautiful, my friend 😋👍🏻
Thank you
The rotisserie chickens at the supermarket never have crispy skin. I'm cool with not eating the skin. I will definitely try this. I will brine the bird first tho.
I have that same exact crockpot
I need do try this recipe 😊
Thumbs up. 😃. My husband could and would eat pollo everyday. 😃. Gracias
Great video.
Making this tomorrow
You could also do this on a pellet cooker outside. With approx 30 seconds of research I found the crock pot temps are 200 on low and 300 on high. I wouldn't do chicken at 200 as there'll be WAY too much smoke, but 300 will give a nice smokey element. Just another option.
You are a very good videographer.🤤❤
We have a Hen for New Years 2023. I can hardly wait. That bird will have to cook much longer. I can hardly wait to put a piece of Hen in my rice! God Bless to All.
Blessings always
If you dont want all that juice on the bottom, getting chicken soggy, make balls of foil and sit the chicken on,comes out tender &juicy on ,comes out tender &juicy
This just made me want a bigger crockpot lol
I had NO idea you could do that, lol. I live in Galveston Texas and it's still 1000 degrees so I will be doing this SOON!
I cooked in such method before 😊
👩🏻💻Found it! Thanks!!!
I'm just making now Love the reviews having tater tot casserole with it!!
I made this for dinner tonight. The family loved it. To quote my husband “even the white meat is moist.” There is enough chicken left over chicken Alfredo tomorrow night.
