I'm 65 and glad to know that no matter how old he gets, the energy he brings to this song never changes. He does a superb job of it at any age. The man is pure gold... The ever thoughtful Ghost!!!
GREATEST GUITAR RIFF OF ALL TIME, WHISKY-A-GOGO HOUSE BAND, 2O+ mega hits,, THE,LL HAVE TO MAN UP SOONER OR LATER, JOHNNY RIVERS IS A "NATIONAL TREASURE!! THE ROCK,N,ROLL HALL OF FAME SHALL BE HIS,, NOW IF YOU'LL EXCUSE ME, MY WIFE & I ARE GOING TO SLOW DANCE TO JOHNNY RIVERS SINGING "SLOW DANCIN" SWAYIN TO THE MUSIC OF MR. JOHNNY RIVERS"!!!!!! Just like we did on our wedding night.........
My all time favorite...I saw him at an Camel Rock Casino in New Mexico...He put on the best show I had ever seen. Rivers sounded better than ever...AND the guy is a great gentleman. He stayed late after the show signing autographs for everyone...Best rock voice outside of Roy Orbison.
When Johnny Rivers took the stage and started, if you were not aware of his talents, you sure as hell woke up. This man induced INSTANT fun and HAPPY for those who experienced him live. Thanks Johnny.
AS awesome as his voice is, his expertise on the guitar is a marvel to watch. He is past awesome on all of them he played. The main melody you hear is him, not the others.
+Daniel DeSousa True, but it's almost embarrassing for rock musicians to share a hall that honors the likes of Blondie, The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, etc. and excludes arena filling, platinum actual acts like Jethro Tull, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Traffic, etc. Maybe if Johnny and the rest of those more deserving had worn purple underwear, or eye liner and tattoos they'd stand more of a chance of being honored with their peers...
I first heard this song when I was around 13, and didn't realize Johnny Rivers actually played the guitar on it until a few years ago. It was one of the first songs I learned to play.
Theme song to "Secret Agent" television show.....my father was surprised when I was playing the next...Good times......Johnny still has it and at 70 years old...AWESOME!!!
The composers went on to have a band known as The Grass Roots....The most famous recording of the song was made by Johnny Rivers for the opening titles of the American broadcast of the British spy series Danger Man, which aired in the U.S. as Secret Agent from 1964 to 1966. The show we knew in the U.S, was Secret Agent with Patrick McGoohan....Thank you Wikipedia.
I was in Elementary School in 1964 and 65 when this song was popular. I also didn't miss the TV Series that came out every Saturday night. When an episode would start they'd play this song because it was the theme song to the TV Series. Other spy shows were shown like The Man From U.N.C.L.E, The Avengers, that was British Secret Service. This song that Johnny Rivers would sing is a wonderful song. On 4/25/2023, Who's still listening? I'm 67 Yrs old and will still be listening because great songs will never die out. This the reason I love 60's music very deeply. When this song was played on the radio that was the height of the Cold War Threat. That type of paranoia existed in those days and Johnny Rivers was aware of that.
Edward Anthony I agree. Just like Madonna is in the HOF and not Steve Miller band! The HOF is a JOKE! Plain and simple. Johnny def deserves to be in it. He is timeless!
This song was released on February 1966 "Secret Agent Man" is a song written by P.F. Sloan and Steve Bam. The most famous recording of the song was made by Johnny Rivers for the opening titles of the American broadcast of the British spy series Danger Man, which aired in the U.S. as Secret Agent. Rivers's version peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Canadian RPM chart, one of the biggest hits of his career. Numerous covers and adaptations have been recorded since then with the song becoming both a rock standard and one of Johnny Rivers's signature songs.
Still looks and sound good. Johnny, imho, was always underrated as a guitarist. He's a pretty fine uitar player. Not just a singer who happens to play guitar.
Fez parte de uma mocidade alegre, onde os valores eram respeitados.dancei muito esta musica, saudosa demais por tantos momentos onde a boa musica fazia parte da vida de milhares de jovens.
Most definitely, so how does someone get him voted in? The man is an Icon from that era and what a voice he had back then, so strong and deep, the girls loved him! I know I did! LOL
Man, this guy hasn't lost anything, also never knew he played the lead guitar parts. Kinda depressing to see such a legend playing these tiny clubs to keep money coming in, but at least he's not washing cars or selling real estate.
Barry Fone: Johnny prefers the smaller venues rather than the larger ones.He likes the reaction of his audiences. He only plays nnow and again so as not to burn himself out.Those are his words. So dont be depressed that he is trying to keep money coming in,that's not the case.Not at all. His finances are just fine. :}
It’s just the nature of getting old. So many of the acts of the 60s and 70s that once filled arenas and stadiums at the height of their popularity r now faced with playing at county fairs and Indian casinos. I’ve seen many wonderful acts there at cheap prices.
Hey girl! It's Bobbie.. Hope you enjoyed the show. The old man was in good form. He rocked the guitar solo and the voice was solid... I've been off the grid for a while with health issues..slowly coming back. Miss You!
What a living legend. This man will be 80 years old Nov-2022 and still kicking ass with his music and talent.
50 years later...and still one of the best....
Not long before it will be 60 years since he first hit it big on the charts with "Memphis" in 1964.
I'm 65 and glad to know that no matter how old he gets, the energy he brings to this song never changes. He does a superb job of it at any age. The man is pure gold... The ever thoughtful Ghost!!!
I think he's 75 now.
@@renarga6886 I think he was born in 1942. That would make him 79 now.

I Love Johnny!!!

He's still got the voice, music skills, and the talent!
Yes, and the looks!
The man still looks and sounds great!
Good words to this song...
AS awesome as his voice is, his expertise on the guitar is a marvel to watch. He is past awesome on all of them he played. The main melody you hear is him, not the others.

Was there, front and center. Good show.
his tone is SCREAMING on that Strat !!!
That's an American Romp, Thank You Mr Sir and Jonny Rivers too. BAK
Johnny Rivers was born cool , and always will be...
this guy is a legend
JOHNNY IS THE HALL OF FAME ALL THE COOL KIDS LOVED HIM
Bravo Johnny! Still rockin and sounding great. Hope he comes up here to the Great Lakes soon.
Why is Johnny Rivers not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Because that is not his real name
Jose Belindo ..wat.
Because the HOF voters are a sorryassed bunch of weasels that we should ignore.
I think he is back in 1998 check it out
@@llmommom7735 Nope - just checked. But Janet Jackson is???? Insane. It's all industry politics.
He was at Ojai a few years back and I missed that show :(
He fascinates me! He is like fine wine that gets even better with time! He should have Ben in R&R hall of fame long ago! He is an icon.
Perfect!
Just keeps getting better like a fine wine...Boy he is good...
Still has the same fire, fell in love with his songs I was 18,41 years ago
Timeless classics like this will never die.
saw Johnny 3 times for free in Boston .. I would have paid whatever they asked to see him... have been a big fan since the 60's.. he has it all
That was wonderful. Thank you.
50 years & he is a timeless talent...
My "CD" growing up was a 45RPM of this song my parents had...
I love this song!!!
what a trooper, go Johnny go.
I first heard this song when I was around 13, and didn't realize Johnny Rivers actually played the guitar on it until a few years ago. It was one of the first songs I learned to play.
Learned this tune in the 60s- its still a requested song in a lot of clubs today- Old rock RULES !!
Thanks for this song, great video.
He is in my book. I saw him play at the Michigan State fair about 1964. Great show.
I miss his black guitar.
so great, both the music and johnny r.
Theme song to "Secret Agent" television show.....my father was surprised when I was playing the next...Good times......Johnny still has it and at 70 years old...AWESOME!!!
He's Italian that's a big part of his strength! God bless Johnny! Hall Of Fame..put the man in!
actually the theme song was for the tv show called "Danger Man"

EDIOMAL, este sim é o cara, com esta idade, ainda tocando sua quitara e cantado muito bem, simplesmente o melhor de JHONNY RIVERS,adoro, bonito, lindo
Amo o jeito dele cantar. E aos 75 anos, continua um homão! 😍
Not bad at all for past age 70 & if Johnny's not in the R & R Hall of Fame there's definitely something seriously wrong..
Edward Anthony I agree. Just like Madonna is in the HOF and not Steve Miller band! The HOF is a JOKE! Plain and simple. Johnny def deserves to be in it. He is timeless!

A pretty FACE.
yesssss still sounds great.....
The man himself.
Not only can Johnny sing.....He also makes that Stratocaster sing !!!
Did he sell the original ES335 for a Million or so?
A true legend 🎸
Still looks and sound good. Johnny, imho, was always underrated as a guitarist. He's a pretty fine uitar player. Not just a singer who happens to play guitar.
yup. he was one of the few singers who mastered the guitar

CANT MISTAKE HIS VOICE, EXCELLENT
Most definitely, so how does someone get him voted in? The man is an Icon from that era and what a voice he had back then, so strong and deep, the girls loved him! I know I did! LOL
Joy Gandolfini:
The girls still love him! Just check out the comments on any of his videos.Lol!
SHOW !! THE BEST !!!
I dedicate this to my fellow soldiers of the old Army Security Agency
You know who you are even if no one else does. Always vigilant.
I Love You Johnny!
I’d love to meet him,
Só would I!
Que grande Johni un capo. Saludos de Argentina
too good for the R&R Hall of Shame.
Still got it
Man, this guy hasn't lost anything, also never knew he played the lead guitar parts. Kinda depressing to see such a legend playing these tiny clubs to keep money coming in, but at least he's not washing cars or selling real estate.
+Barry Fone I was about to say this same thing when I saw your comment.
Its apparent that he enjoys what he does, whether if it's in concert or a small club. He's got it in his heart and his soul.
Barry Fone:
