Gotta say I had the good fortune to see Willie Dixon in concert back in the 70’s. But my first ever concert was Johnny Rivers; I can still hear him playing “The Snake”.
One of my all-time favorites! Why is this man not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I think it's a scam! Why would anyone in their right mind give this a thumbs down?
This guy really has a relationship with his guitar, and is such a driving rock blues man. Charisma he has and I love his playing and singing, especially Secret Agent Man. Can't listen to him without joining in his romp!
He still has his house of many years in Beverly Hills up in a canyon. The property tax is relatively low, because it is a Proposition 13 house. And the royalties still arrive.
Johnny was on the Marty Stuart Show last year and his voice is as great as it ever was, and the guy's been doing this for 50 years! Great video, thanks for posting.
Johnny Rivers knows how to get the job done!! I love Johnny Rivers! Great artist and musician and should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Because (in my humble opinion) Jann Wenner (who apparently controls the R & R HOF induction process) is a douche of the lowest order. What he did to the DC5 alone is a cryin' shame. Jann seems to have a bias against 60's AM radio acts.
On this day in 1965 {May 30th} Johnny Rivers' covered version of "Seventh Son" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #63; four weeks later on June 27th, 1965 it would peak at #7 {for 3 weeks} and stayed on the chart for 11 weeks... And on July 19th, 1965 it reached #1 {for 1 week} on the Canadian RPM Singles chart... Between 1964 and 1977 he had twenty-nine Hot Top 100 records; eight made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Poor Side of Town" for one week in 1966... He just missed having a second #1 record when his debut record, "Memphis", peaked at #2* {for 2 weeks} in 1964... Johnny Rivers, born John Henry Ramistella, will celebrate his 73rd birthday in six months on November 7th {2015}... * The first week "Memphis" was at #2, the #1 record was "I Get Around" by the Beach Boys; and for its second week at #2 "Rag Doll" by the Four Seasons was in the top spot...
They play lot of his songs on Siruis XM 60 on 6 , listen to all, saw him at this symphony hall , genuinely could still do his songs unlike lots of others who still grab our money with these high ticket prices and should be on porch at this point !
I am not good with names and I am not good with numbers so I don't know what to call her. She said she wouldn't for a little but she would for a little more.
They say nothing rhymes with orange but banana rhymes with Canada which is kind of funny because you can't grow bananas in Canada but you can go bananas in Canada.
I've called this show the "garage rock Johnny" show. Another RUclips poster who calls himself "Unsteady Freddie" has a fair number of clips from this show with an even HOTTER sound mix than the audio on this clip (which is quite good). Its ironic that JR needs a band of world class musicians to sound like a garage rocker. His usual shows are far more sedate than this performance
This guy is a Rock and Roll Trailblazer and should be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Why isn't he?
And THAT, children ... is how it's done !!! The man is ageless and timeless !!!
Truth!
AMEN!
@@rmeier66 absolutely! this guy is from my mom's hometown.. Louisiana!
@@lorigibbs2379 in Baton Rouge !

Johnny was and is completely underrated, at least here in Europe. What a shame, always friendly, great performance, great song selection!
Still sounds the same as he did 50 years ago! Awesome!
+pbatommy Indeed! It's as if time has frozen. Still looks great as well.
Johnny still kicks ass!!!!!!!
He puts everything he's got in it! Always has! Love Johnny Rivers!
Age is a number
He took good care of himself.good rocker.
GODDAMN IS HE AS GOOD AS EVER? AND STILL LOOKS GREAT. NOT SOME BURNT OUT DRUG HEAD LIKE STONES, AEROSMITH AND BANDS LIKE THAT. HES STILL GOT IT.

Aerosmith is one of the most pathetic bands ever assembled!

RRHOF has always been a joke
He was overlooked in so many ways, I would say he didn't conform to the big wigs didn't go down the path of drugs.
Still kicking! 2023
Looks great, sounds great, father time has blessed this man, we boomers were and still are lucky to have him.
That man comes from the cool sound of town
This was the first version I heard in 1966
Just as good here as he ever was. I love to watch him perform.

Absolutley fantastic, definitely timeless and an amazing appearance on this stage show😀👍👍👍

The man knows how to work his instrument

I hope he’s made a good living after all these years. Still love his music and apparently so does he!!
Poor Side a Town keeps him Flush, let alone other publishing..
He still has his house of many years in Beverly Hills up in a canyon. The property tax is relatively low, because it is a Proposition 13 house. And the royalties still arrive.
Great live sound, wish I was there. Love this guy.
Underappreciated Talent
Perhaps his best live performance and the band WOHA,,,,DRUMMER AND SECIND LEAD GUITARIST!
This man is such a wonderful entertainer I so enjoy watching his videos as well listening too his music
Johnny was on the Marty Stuart Show last year and his voice is as great as it ever was, and the guy's been doing this for 50 years! Great video, thanks for posting.

He’s aged very well. Still sounds great 👍
Life evidently doesn't revolve around dope, alcohol and negative loser folks.

Hey, hey.
This totally sounds like the best garage band to ever play pop music.....
it’s actually wild how hard this song goes
Hi johnny my name is Sally hogdon my heart is your heart board for the first
Rich Pagano (d), Will Lee (b), Jimmy Vivino (g),and I’m assuming Paul Schaefer (p), as backing band.
No better band leader and player than Paul Schaefer, regardless of genre. Where would we be without him and the great Quincy Jones!
RRHF let's get him in. He deserves it now.
I'm the One - I'm the One - I'm the One they call Doc SeverenSon...😃
Johnny looks damn good for his age, what is he like 70 in 012, he looks like 47
The drummer has the "Bobby BEE/beat.Detroit famous drummer/ like a metronome

The audio is distorted.
It seems the audio is pretty bad on a lot of these YT clips, especially his vocals at the mike.
yes he is sill just as good as when he started out ,sounds great.....7-17-21 just got better & better with time.......
Why isn't He in the R&R Hall Of Shame ? Now That's A Real Shame ! with all the Clowns that have been inducted !
