Excellent theme song. Johnny Rivers' hit songs all sound like they were recorded in a party, with all the fun background noises. He's one of New Orleans' many gifts to culture.
The great Patrick McGoohan -- versatile actor, screenwriter, director -- NEVER EVER TO BE SURPASSED!! The theme sung by the equally great and talented Johnny Rivers. He owns this song. NOBODY CAN TOP his voice and guitar playing! HE WILL NEVER BE SURPASSED! I have been a big fan of McGoohan's work in film & on TV. Always watched Secret Agent. Always danced to Johnny Rivers' hits & watched him on every show. This is a perfect example of synchronicity -- theme song and a show in perfect harmony. The memories keep rushing back when I hear the song or watch the show -- those were the best times ever!😊
That was fantastic! Especially the way you edited in the line from the Prisoner, "I am not a number, I am a free man." Absolutely fantastic! Brought a big smile to my face. Keep it up. Who is number one? You are, number six. We should all remember that.
I used to love playing this on my Gibson when I was younger but now my old fingers just cannot do it. But I still love listening to it and remembering it.
The misheard lyric is "Secret Asian Man" and that is a very different kettle of fish. LOL .Love this song and Patrick and of course,The Prisoner as well
...remember this from when I was like, five. A MUST for Mom and Dad to watch. I didn't get the series, but remember thinking the theme was cool as $hit. Whoda thunk 30 years later McGoohan would play Edward Longshanks?...
This song was released on February 1966 "Secret Agent Man" is a song written by P.F. Sloan and Steve Bam. The most famous recording of the song was made by Johnny Rivers for the opening titles of the American broadcast of the British spy series Danger Man, which aired in the U.S. as Secret Agent. Rivers's version peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Canadian RPM chart, one of the biggest hits of his career. Numerous covers and adaptations have been recorded since then with the song becoming both a rock standard and one of Johnny Rivers's signature songs.
Danger Man was on the CBC in Canada as early as 1960. I left Ottawa in 1961 as a kid of 10. Danger Man was a standout , and PM must have had the "Rights" to the show. I know he did a lot of writing and was smart about his career.
Patrick also did some tv directing, at least for some episodes of the Columbo detective series. I still watch the reruns especially when he guest stars on the show.🙂
What I really liked was the jazz-rock incidental harpsichord theme that began the first scene of each episode. Does anybody else recall it? Cool as hell.
Oh God I had such a crush on Patrick McGoohan. It started when I was about 10 years old. I almost killed my brother when he attempted to change the TV channel when he was on. -- and if he ever tried it again - he knew that I would so it was never a problem after the first incident. 😇
Something a bit like that was my signature move as a heavyweight wrestler... It takes a bit more force that the video shoes but the principle is the same, and once the big guys went down they wouldn't get back up.
DEVO did a very amusing cover of this song (albeit with different lyrics) in the short film "In The Beginning Was The End: The Truth About De-Evolution."
It would be better if you cut out injecting lines from The Prisoner. Hearing "I am a free man" repeatedly ruins how Dangerman/Secret Agent Man can stand on it's own merit. Especially since Patrick McGoohan kept insisting that Secret Agent John Drake had nothing to do with Number 6.
Excellent theme song. Johnny Rivers' hit songs all sound like they were recorded in a party, with all the fun background noises. He's one of New Orleans' many gifts to culture.
As I recall, this song and others were recorder at the Whiskey-Au-Go-Go in Calufornia. I'm sure his album will have the full information.
yes, the single was recorded after the original show recording was
It's a live version of the song, hence the 'party' noises. People enjoying themselves.
Great show that I watched as a kid even though it competed with other 'spy shows' like 'The Man from Uncle' and 'Mission: Impossible'.
The first series, from 1960, supposedly pre-dated them all. That's why some people say John Drake was the granddaddy of TV spies

Patric Mcgouhan was outstanding in this series. The best of all the Secret Agents!
The original name for this TV show was Danger Man, renamed Secret Agent for US broadcast. Be seeing you!!!
Secret Agent theme song is much better than the Danger Man one. Why do you keep inserting the scenes from The Prisoner?
Oh thank you!! I thought I had a Mandela effect when I saw “Danger Man” on TUBI and it didn’t play this theme.
Throwing in that prisoner line was pure kino
You are number 6!
@@LibCon1980 I AM NOT A NUMBER I AM A FREE MAN
Loved this show!
Brings back old memories of watching the show as a kid.
Excellent use of the signature declaration made by N0. 6 in THE PRISONER tv series.

Great Song, Cool TV Show (I remember it) and a Very Cool Vid...! 😊 👍
Nice compilation for sure. Great editing. 'I am NOT a number, I am a free man!' in the background from 'The Prisoner'. Genius.
I remember this when l was a kid , loved this theme and would jump around when I heard it every time. Nice job on video editing 🔥💯🎸
take a peek at my updated version, after having a better hang of editing :-)
I love the addition of "I am not a number, I am a free man." from The Prisoner.
"I am not a num-bah, I am a free man!"
A long-time fave!
The misheard lyric is "Secret Asian Man" and that is a very different kettle of fish. LOL .Love this song and Patrick and of course,The Prisoner as well
Believe you said it all perfectly....
You put fish in your kettle?!
Loved watching Patrick here.
LOVE LOVE LOVE(!) the Patrick McGoohan vid clips! THANKS!!
Well done!

Top Notch Job! Tossing in those lines from The Prisoner was the cherries on the jubilee!
Really really good stuff.👍

Patrick McGoohan.........always ULTIMATE COOL!
Yes, also seen in The Prisoner in the late 1960s and Several Columbo TV Episodes ( 3 ? ) in the 1970s 😊 👍 -cheers
Played the unforgettable king in the the iconic movie "Braveheart"
Patrick also did some tv directing, at least for some episodes of the Columbo detective series. I still watch the reruns especially when he guest stars on the show.🙂
Best TV theme ever
Neck & neck with the "Batman" TV theme!
Splendid!
I like how you edited in the line "I am not a number, I am a free man." from The Prisoner.
some peeps said it is a distraction... so when I did an updated version, I didn't include it ;-)
Now i want to hear Iron Maiden playing Secret Agent Man and Johnny Rivers playing The Prisoner
@@rapcoremanx😎😆....Good 💡 idea.....
@@SchrödingersMath At least the Iron Maiden playing Johnny Rivers part sounds good... The second one would be fire tho
The Danger Man.
WHO created that riff? A God.
I have an answer for you: P.F. Sloan wrote the riff. He and Steve Barri wrote the song.
Sloan also wrote "Eve of Destruction".
it's great. congratulations!
Still paying the bills, sounds great in 2024..
007 of television awesome show which i used to watch great series
loved the song and the TV series with Patrick McGoohan! He was perfect for the part!
U are sure right. One of favorite tv shows the other was The Avengers.
yeah I saw a video of Johnny Rivers singing it live on the show The Midnight Special
I'm not a number. I'm a free man.
Love it. Always watched The Prisoner. This song was covered by Devo, one of my all time favourite groups. Is your profile Buster Keaton too?
This is great!
Excellent, thanks!
Dangerman AKA Secret Agent. A bit of The Prisoner too.
The Prisoner was a great show!!!
I love this show.
Boy, did I have a crush on him!
Bless!
He was a great actor. 🌹
Patrick McGoohan was an excellent actor for a very long time. Rest in peace Mr. McGoohan your body of work will live on forever
Superb music!😅
McGoohan was great in “ Ice Station Zebra”
He was great in everything!
I think his best role was Colonel Rumsford in COLUMBO: BY DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT.
What I really liked was the jazz-rock incidental harpsichord theme that began the first scene of each episode. Does anybody else recall it? Cool as hell.
I listen to this song a lot. I love the series.
Excellent. Bravo.
Loved the show! Had this song on a 45 rpm!
ah, the 1960s, when British guys in suits and fedoras was the biggest thing in pop culture. 😉
Love it, esp. this edit... with the hint of connection with "The Prisoner" stuck in for good measure.
Well done! Be seeing you!
That’s The King “Long Shanks” in Braveheart.
My Ringtone!!!😎💙💣👌🏾🤌🏾✌🏾👍🏾🦇🦈
The show was called Danger Man
"Danger Man" in the UK, but "Secret Agent" in the US
As a kind I wondered who the secret ASIAN man was.
Oh God I had such a crush on Patrick McGoohan. It started when I was about 10 years old. I almost killed my brother when he attempted to change the TV channel when he was on. -- and if he ever tried it again - he knew that I would so it was never a problem after the first incident. 😇

Got'a love it!!
I am not a name I am a free man!!!! Be seeing you 👌
Because of the show and watching Man from UNCLE and James Bond movies I became Law enforcement see you soon M
I never bought №6 not being John Drake either.
McGoohan as James Bond wouldn’t have cut it either. But heck-
Nice video, though!
*_I am not a number! I am a freee man!!!_*
That throw at 0:21... Ive not seen anything quite like that.
Something a bit like that was my signature move as a heavyweight wrestler... It takes a bit more force that the video shoes but the principle is the same, and once the big guys went down they wouldn't get back up.
Think I’ve just made myself the #1111 subscribers of your channel ! ( I am not a number , I am a freeman ! )

I have seen their version, but I just can't see it being right for "my purposes" ;-)
..you did a purdy good job on this Neil, but i'm lQQking 4 the original...
Do people actually adopt that particular expression when staring a pointed gun?
Drake, John Drake.
didn't He die at the end of that series?
No. He was sent to a creepy Village in Wales.
No, he didn't die. He ended up in several episodes of Columbo...😂😊❤
@@catherinemelnyk Won an Emmy for one of the Columbo episodes (He wrote it). I heard first hand he ended up a really lonely hard, hard drinker in LA.

I don't think this was a theme to any TV series, certainly not Secrete Agent aka Danger Man and definitely not The Prisoner
it was literally made for danger man intro, but only in the US broadcast, maybe you just saw different version
@@donmaslanoz14 and the US version was six years later.
