T FP “Iced Earth” was spot on in pitch. I still think he’s was the best fit for this band. Ripper comes next but his live performance wasn’t always the best.
@@TomPark1986 What he lacks in control he more than makes up with power. He's definitely not the most technically gifted Iced Earth vocalist but I would say he's the best-sounding.
There are so many underrated singers in the world! I know so many awesome ones never spoke of!!!! I have all type of groups who are awesome and never talked about! But I would say he was very pitchy in this video...maybe he was too sad to go cause he was singing really bad!!! Matt Barlow does have it going on usually...he is fucked up here!
He's really the best! Towards the end of "I died for you" he sings in tune. I guess those in ears were malfunctioning or the audio guy did something wrong 😅
I love matt Barlow's voice so much and miss this iced earth but glad he got to do the cop thing and be closer and their for his family. Tim wasn't a bad singer either but who could really replace matt Barlow? Nobody, that's who 😎🤘🔥❤👏
Iced earth is definitely in my top 5 bands, I've loved them ever since someone on mIRC suggested them to me after i thought I was hot shit trying to find korn songs to download in a chat room. They suggested "Angels Holocaust" and "Stormrider" to me at the time and i was immediately hooked. Bought "Days of Purgatory" from harmony house the next day. One of the best metal albums ever even though it's a compilation.
J'ai vu ça live, les grands yeux pleins d'eau, pis même quand je l'réécoute jdeviens bin émotif! Wow it was a farewell to one of metal's most epic vocalist.
Matt Barlow from everything i know left Iced earth because he wanted to do something good. Nothing probably bothers him more than the Shit that Jon is getting now.
Jon is sitting there in a box for a reason thats hard to undertstand. So please educate me. Why is this guy there? how did he fall so hard and what i would love to know Matts thoughts on this.
Matt is fucking awesome, man! The energy and feel of his voice! Tim brought some other elements that worked with the bands sound. He has that raw power and technique. Matt is also technical, don’t get me wrong. Anyway... Stu Block... want to like the guy, I really do. Just now I really started to like Democide from plagues of Babylon. And some others, but when he do older songs... it really grind my gears somehow. Great fucking band anyway
Ripper was awesome on Framing Armageddon, but I really did not like the glorious burden, it all felt out of place and like it was recorded in the 80's. Framing was unique and an amazing album on the whole. I felt good about Iced earth's future at that point and thought they were really coming together That said, Barlow is without a doubt the true sound of Iced earth. He is who i think of and the one who made their sound. Schaffer is obviously an amazing songwriter and it's his band but I feel like he just rents other members, hires and fires them at will. Doesn't seem like he wants a true band of brothers, just people that do what he says. Barlow was the only other one that seemed to stick and was basically an original member for all intents and purposes. Saw them live a few times with Stu but it's more nostalgia now, can't get into him like the others for some reason.
Shai Hulud yeah Schaffer said in interviews around horror show that everyone is replaceable and the interviewer said Matt can't be and his answer: he is and he knows it... I believe that attitude too caused lots of tension and made him insecure in his place in that band and why he left to do regular work. That Schaffer egomaniac didn't appreciate Matts enormous talent that's why he deserves to be told all the time by the true fans that his band sucks without its singer!
While the singing is a bit pitchy, you can hear he has a lot of power in his voice, especially the screams, holy shit! I think this might be an off day or simply to do with bad monitoring due to the quick changeovers in a festival setting. A lot of these wacken performances sound pitchy
Good band, but Matt Barlow vocals are and why I like these so much, out of the box, just awesome...Matt is now Ex Iced Earth. However, Matt's new band Ashes of Ares. 👍
Matt Was Out of the world incredible. Easily the best singer this band ever had. Nobody even Owens or Stu block even came close to this but on that note Stu Block was incredible also. Probably the best singer they could hope to find besides Matt. With that said, Matt left because he wanted to do something good. Looking back he just might have been better off staying right where he was because of what is going on now.
My friend and ex band member joined Iced Earth on The Dark Saga .. He was the bass player and is shown on the back of the album .. I asked him what happened .. He told me the guys were dicks .. and when I read on .. They said he never learned a lick and was trying to promote our ole band .. Keith was set on being himself .. I know .. when he was 15 and got a bass .. He had no care for scales and structure .. I used to call them Martian Scales and we'd smoke another one !! I hoped he'd make it and when he got hired by Iced Earth .. Yes !! .. But seemingly something fucked up .. Today he still has his projects and one of them is with an ex singer from Pantera .. another guy that only lasted a few days . They have a band called Human Entity and it sounds like Fates Warning
+Pajtim Hasani After September 11th 2001, he sunk into a deep depression because he admired the work of all the policemen and firefighters who worked on the World Trade Center attack site and he thought that his life had no purpose. He became a police officer a couple years later and he still is.
+Alexandre Boucher-Tremblay okay but that should not be a reason, unless he has been an active cop for the 10 years after the attack, I mean he sang for the band until 2011, and besides, he fronts another band after he left, or am I wrong?
He HAS been an active cop ever since. He got involved into some projects, but none that demanded extended leave for touring and his appearances in festivals have been rare and few. He left Iced Earth in 2001, came back in 2007, during which Iced Earth didn't tour all that much, and left to take care of his family in 2011. The life of a touring artist is HARD, man. It takes a huge toll on whatever you leave when you quit and demands a large amount of sacrifice.
+Alexandre Boucher-Tremblay Yes. It is hard indeed. Touring mostly. You have to have a well organized schedule even when the band is successful. One thing I did not know about Matt was that he's been a cop. Hails to him.

agreed - the closest ill have to this was seeing demons and wizards live before the whole... event happened lmao
Barlow was the best ICED EARTH singer and I do miss his voice so much :(
He's off key here though.
Ashes of ares.
T FP yea def on the first song. He had one in ear monitor in until halfway through. But still didn’t help his pitch. “The Hunter” was much better.
