I'm going back home in December--after two years since my last visit. Otavalo is one of my mandatory stops. The last time I was there, I got this alpaca blanket, and it is the most comfortable cover to use on the couch during cold afternoons here in Seattle. I'm going back for at least two more this time! Thanks for helping me rediscover my country. I left 20 years ago when I was too young to appreciate it. You are changing that.
Wow Pablo you live in my favorite City in the USA Seattle, I left 9 years ago and my emerald city I miss it so much, and hopefully I’ll see Otavalo next year.
My wife and I went there and bought some beautiful ponchos. You should also add in your list San Antonio de Ibarra, it was amazing. We love your videos.
Thank you once again for such a wonderful video. This one also brought tears to my eyes, we lived in Otavalo for 3 1/2 years. It was Great seeing the market open once again. The pandemic shut it down completely. I often wondered and worried about the people that worked in the markets of how they were making a living.
I love Otavalo, I was there two years ago and then went to Quito and Cuenca. I hope to return to Ecuador in July 2022 again and spend more time. I'm thinking of going to Vilcabamba and stay at Madre Tierra after watching your video of your stay there.
Hi, the first thing I noticed was your new white shirt, JP! The fruit market looked amazing. Those papayas! I noticed your community post about less views on a recent video. I really enjoyed that one. For me, a variety of content is nice and that one in particular was relaxing and peaceful, plus I think your content will naturally change as time passes. I may not end up in Ecuador as I don't have the funds required for a residency visa but I've found your channel very informative and inspiring just the same. Thank you!
I liked the video very much. The next time that you visit Otavalo, you have to visit Hacienda Cusin. A tourist from the U.S. said that the gardens looked like a slice of heaven. Make sure that you are shown the gardens behind the hacienda too. Also, one can film the western slope of Volcano Imbabura and one will be able to see the Heart of Imbabura. Another hacienda that would be interesting is Hacienda Pinsaqui. It has been in the family for over 300 years. Also check out the large, Lago de San Pablo.and eat lunch at the restaurant, Puerto Lago. The tour of the Indigenous Market at Otavalo was a home run!
Love, love, love Ecuador! Can't wait to come back. Those textiles were beautiful. I wouldn't be able to not buy something. The poncho is very nice, also!
You did it! You got me teary-eyed and nostalgic with the scenery and the tranquil music in those first 4 minutes. Kudos to your video editor! It has been too long (since 2010) since I've been back home. Thank you for continuing to show the world the beauty that is Ecuador!
Hi guys! Love the background music and your recording speed when you walk through places is perfect for us to really see everything. Many RUclipsrs go too fast and we can't see any details. Yours feel like I am there. Love your new shirt too JP !!! LOL Great work even though I missed hearing you two talk Thank you!!!
JP, if you want high quality Guayabera shirts in adult sizes there is a shop in Guayaquil that sells shirts that are made very professionally IN ECUADOR. I think my husband has at least 4 or 5 from Lord's... if I'm remembering the name of the shop correctly. The last time we were there I believe we paid around $37.50 plus IVA/VAT... that was in early 2019. Pricing a Guayabera in the US of similar quality will run you easily over $100.
Cool Video, lots of good info! I enjoy your videos very much and can't wait to go in November until late December. I'm a Ecuadorian living in California all my life. I've been to Quito and many other places in Ecuador many times over my 59 years of life. I like your videos to see the real time Ecuador with real time prices and availability of basically everything. Thanks again for respecting and loving our little paradise. Maybe I'll run into you two in my travels. Take care
We really enjoyed this video and have followed your journey over the last couple of months. First time I have made a comment. We are arriving in Manta next weekend, using it as our base. Hoping we see you filming around Manta🇨🇦😊
OMG, LOVE it!!! I have some Native American rugs and jewelry that I treasure, cannot wait to add such beautiful work from there once I get moved down! That market would be a very dangerous place for my budget LOL! Thanks for the warning ;)
We are also going in march! We are planning on an amazon and coastal visit -- probably manta of course and not sure where for the amazon visit. Hope you guys enjoy!
Hi guys! Bonnie here. We really like Otavalo too. That mercado is the BEST! As always, you need to watch yourself carefully because of pickpockets, but no problem if you’re aware. I recognize the lady showing you the Llama blanket!! I bought a blanket from her a couple years ago! Its great to see the place again. I hope that our favorite coffee shop it still there… right across the street from the mercado, up some stairs.
The video was lovely. How far are you from the state of emergency.? Armed military in the streets. I read this 26th is a call to mass protests. It is a call to protest by the farmers and indigenous people. Rising crime and proverty(1/3 of people live in poverty). I’m glad to see you buying native items. I hope Ecuador comes thru this better and the Mexican cartels are forced to leave. Too bad Ecuador is in such a strategic spot for transporting from Columbia to Mexico. It seems like a beautiful country with warm people
Love to visit the mercado in Otovalo...so much to see and buy! Beautiful colors...thanks for sharing your experience!! I always take my American friends and family when they come to visit..👍👍
You are such a beautiful American couple! I love your videos! Vivo en USA hace 46 years it seems for ever... mis hijos son Newyorkers, americanos , nos mudamos al mid West y el frío sigue! Nunca me gusto el frío pero... lm stuck here with my kids and grandkids! I DEFINITELY HATE THE COLD! Not like our cold in Ecuador... that’s NOTHING compared with this! Right now January like every January for these years l want to go back home! ECUADOR coast! Blessings in the new year! 2022! Geez already 2022! Time flies!
@@luoma9040 I was not talking about the people but more the conditions of the streets and beaches I have spent a lot of time in Peru since 1984 but have not been back to Ecuador since 1997. Going to go and see for myself
Yah, 2 years ago when we were there it was crowded, hopefully next year we will all be back to a more normal life, lots of leather shops close to the park square in one of the cities there, I forget which, our guide also took us to a local market where not many tourists go, forget its name also, lots of food cooking, it was awesome. Thanks for the video!
Oh wow guys, what a beautiful relaxing city. Loved the views. I think i would've been shopping with Amelia 😊. She has good taste, that poncho was beautiful. Thanks for sharing, you guys are awesome 👌
If you go there on a Saturday, the main day for the mercado, it is very different. Lot's of people! It can be fun for some, but a little too much for others.
Love that you are showing other parts as well. I am very happy for you. The shirt is great, the poncho so original, and I would get the Inca calendar in a minute. Good choices. I was laughing when you mentioned 0 rain coats. I used to live in Guayaquil and never bother to blow dry my hair since they were dry by the time I got dress. One day we went to Quito , I packed my things as I was using home, in Quito, I took a shower and started to get ready as usual but my hair were still wet - different temperature and I was worried not to get sick . hahahahaha.
Hey there, you could do a voice over in that part with the lost audio. And from now on, it would be a great idea to always check it. Lol Yep, that is a beautiful jewelry, Amelia!
Great shirt JP! When you get the size that fits, you should also get some guayaberas. These are found all over Latin America, usually with warmer weather near the Caribbean or places with similar weather like Guayaquil. My family is Cuban and it's very common or traditional there to wear one. There are also many factories in the Yucatan in Mexico where they make them with a lot of customizations, or even made to order like the "Panama" Hats you guys featured not too long ago.

Hi dear,how are you doing?
Man!!! I'm Ecuadorian and don't own that shirt, must buy one, they're beautiful.
I love you guys for buying stuff at the markets and helping the local economy there. Look forward to future videos from that area.

Great memories - we took a day trip there from Quito in August. There is also a pretty lake (San Pedro) along the route from Quito.
San Pablo?

I like that poncho with sleeves (which I have not seen before). I have 2 ponchos that I got in Ecuador which I still use.
