In my opinion, a revolved view would be for the offset section (revolved section view). A section going vertical from base and then going through the flange. Often it is used for depicting two different details in one view. e.g. a Bolt hole detail on a bolt hole circle and possibly a dowel hole between two bolt holes.
Need to try. Used it long back when Creo was WF.

Interesting use case. Thanks for the clarification. I'll have to try that out.

I 'm not often use revolved view because it seems not working with offset section and most of the time i really need local section , but with revolved view function i am not finding a way to reduce the section area .

You can apply a Partial View to the Revolved View, but playing around with that seemed like it added even more confusion.

I've never used a revolved view. Never mind a revolved cross section. It could be in a drafting standard but I'm sure someone may wonder how to interpret the drawing. Perhaps there are section arrows to be added. 32 year drafter

Yeah, it seems like it would add more confusion to the drawing. There's no option to add arrows. I don't get the point; it's not intuitive what it adds.

@@CADPLMGuy Well in your example its not useful, also not understandable, mainly because how your cross section is selected. But if you think about a boat, or aircraft wing for example or long slender objects then its useful. Subscribed. Added image of a hypothetical wing on:
