    Ohhhhhh I love my gerber dime. I know you can't show everything, heck you might not even like it but I really think it's the winner in the micro multi tool slot.
    Despite gerber being kinda trash generally the dime in my experience was very high quality.
    The all black is overly tight until well broken in but that doesn't seem to be the case for the other colors.
    Anyway thanks for the video 👍

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  2 года назад +2

      I've not had great experiences with the dime, Id rather skip the pliers and carry a Victorinox Rambler or manager.

    • @docholliday7408
      @docholliday7408 2 года назад +1

      The thing that makes (or breaks) the Dime is whether or not you need a package opener in your EDC. I've tried lots of different tools, and the Dime is the best at this, bar none, at any price point.
      And for anyone wondering what makes the package opener so great, it's the kind of packages it's good for. It's nothing special at cutting open boxes. No, its specialty is getting into those plastic packages that come with a plastic bubble sandwiched into layers of cardboard that make it nearly impossible to open easily. The Dime cuts through the plastic with ease, while running no risk of damaging the contents inside.

    the bic lighter need swapped out, you need to find a mini clipper if its available in the us,its a bit wider than the bic but its refillable and changable flint where the bic isnt ,i found the flint had perished in my bic lighter and found a mini clipper so it replaced the bic, i was going to say you could swap out the knife and multi tools for a swiss army handyman but at nearly $90 compared to uks £50 pounds it costs new ,its allready killed the budget, im amazed how much there is of a mark up on eu stuff is expensive in the u.s and vice versa, if you can i would go second hand preloved/preowned all the way

    The millwaukee utillity knife is my new love! And yes, I did improve on it:
    I made a small styrene 1/4 hex "Sabot" that kan hold an exacto blade and then be fitted in the bitholder. I also added a styrene "lid" to the side with the indention on the scale wich allows me to carry an extra exacto blade in the same way as the utillity blade...
    That way it becomes an EPIC knife imo, with two replaceable blades for different job applications.
    (I carry a homemade multitool with a bitdriver and bitcompartment on the side, wich is why I didn't need the milwaukee as a bitdriver.)
    I also painted the different symbols and brand markings with black paint and filled the holes up with superglue and sanded everything smooth... Now it is a slick tool and it looks even better than orginal IMO...

    Videos like this are kind of insulting. The real purpose of edc is practical stuff that most people should have either for daily use or because you might need an item in a situation where going to a store or getting a toolnout of the garage doesn't work.
    For one thing, an ultra-thin $50 knife is usually for an everyman edc. An edc knife should be less than $30 and shouldn't fold if it isn't part of a multi-tool. Second, pliers are more useful than a notebook. You can keep notes on your phone or hand in a pinch. The light should be a pen light for edc, or a light/lighter combo. I haven't seen a quality flashlight with an integrated arc lighter, but having an arc lighter that is a back-up light is a no-brainer. An edc pen should be solid enough to break glass or be used as a last ditch weapon, cheap tactical pens in brass are so common there is no other answer. And finally folding scissors are more important than different color pens.

This is obviously redundant - I do not need pen and paper - I have my smartphone, I do not need flashlight - I have my smartphone, I do not need knife - I have my smartphone with nfc, so I can order a food in restaurant. Most packages can be EASILY opened with bare hands BY DESIGN. So basically in urban environment I really need my smartphone and power supply. But I often take my knife just because I like knives and not because I can not survive without it.
