_Alternative Budget Knives For This Theme_
- Opinel No.8 (Walnut or Padouk): $25 - $35
- Svord Peasant Knife (Wood Finish): $30
- Boker Plus Tech-Tool 1 (Zebra Wood): $45
Usually I do not comment on Videos, but I just have to tell you, that I appreciate your Videos. The Quality you provide is insane. Keep it up. Wish you the best of luck and I hope you get a lot more Subs. :-)
F91W is the best example of "if it ain't broke don't fix it". The black model is like $10. Absolutely worth it. Also travelers company/ Midori notebooks are the best!
minimalist/modern EDC would be an interesting theme to see if you do more of these.
You have such a way of talking, idk how you do it but i like your vocabulary
Here in Brazil we have the expression “BBB” (Bom, Bonito e Barato/Good, Beauty and cheap). Something “mid range” of price and quality.
Nice video. I’d probably swap out the Civivi for a QSP Penguin ($32). I agree with the Benchmade- great looking knife and you can customize it in Benchmade’s custom shop if you wanted a more modern look.
I loved the format of this video; it's a great way to compare budget to luxury gear.
You are so blessed living in a place with such product diversity and disposable income sources. Down here in our forlorn lot of the world, we are lucky to afford a Bic pen each year.
I’m a watch fiend! I have too many to pick from. I usually travel with at least 4. My wallet was made it of shell cordovan, by my buddy for my bday. AND not everyday you meet someone that can do pen tricks. I’m always doing them! Great video!
This is my new favorite EDC/life guru advice channel. Well done.
man there are a lot of things in here that i love to use myself. i think the lamy safari and fieldnotes are a must for everyone. i also love my travelers notebook. i have both of those lights also. this was a solid video
Loved this video so much! I always want to see different ideas of putting together an EDC, and the budget differences were really enjoyable to sort out! Thanks!
Lol, is it only me that keeps shoving Field notes books into my travellers notebook haha
I loved this video comparing More expensive edc with cheaper edc !! Please make more videos like this, on the same topic! I loved !
If you like the Lamy Safari I feel like you should check out the Pilot Explorer, it's a little cheaper and great quality for what you're getting! And also has the colors and texture of the safari that you like
Nice choices! The only things I wouldn't use in either kit are the wallets. I much prefer a bi-fold that holds cash, has a drivers license display pouch, and a few card slots, in leather. They are cheap. Got a genuine leather one at Fred meyer 10 years ago or longer, and never needed another. Pens, knives, flashlights, watches on the other hand--customize away! Super fun to mix and match around.
My EDC kit is: Cambridge notebook for 12$, Victorinox Compact for 90$, Victorinox knife sharpener for 30$, and a basic wallet for 30$ or so. All prices are in canadian dollars. It covers all essentials for me
I would definitely buy the key ring not only for my self but for the guys at work as gifts.
I frickin knew the Seiko was gonna be the bank breaker, you can still get a really good Casioak or G-shock for ~180$, but as you said, this is a premium option, so that alone justifies it.
you know what would be great, EDC kit, for someone corporate working mostly between meeting and traveling a lot, something that would work suit and more casual look
happy to provide some of mine EDC things
I would love the copper key chain
I am a big fan of Pokka pens. $3 or so. I keep one in the watch pocket of my jeans. Field notes in my back pocket. Very handy.
Nice to see edc content that isn’t just a long winded second rate handgun review and at the end the dude is like “oh yeah, I also have a watch and stuff”
Well put together video. I like the contrast theme for the 150/1500.
Knife i will go high end benchmade, mini crooked river, bugout, mini bugout, 940, Griptilian so i have options
Watch tissot prx mechanic! U can’t beat this valve and look!
Wallet… just $10 from amz + Apple magnet wallet to case, who needs cash now…
Notebook i will take for outdoor use only and nowadays most important edc is battery charger… u can note everything u need
Pen f107 is perfect
I love your videos and love seeing your sub count going up every time !!!!! DONT EVER STOP!!!!!!!!
I would love to get my hands on a budget option to the SPEC-DNT, perhaps on a cheaper material? Though I understand the choice of copper for its antibacterial properties, I'm personally more interested in the shape
This man be expanding my vocabulary
Alpinist is just so slick!
YES! - for the spec-dnt. I've been combing through your videos just to find a link to the shop. 😄 Would love to add it to my edc as soon as you do a rerelease.
I enjoyed the video! Gadgets and stuff is always interesting and you have an easy to listen to voice.
For the Watch i would choose a "Holzkern" Watch because its way cheaper then the Seiko and made with wood. it looks pretty good and is very usefull
Recently found your channel, love what your doing & this vid is great! Would love to see more themes for sure.
30.00 for your key ring is not bad at all and for solid copper that's even better I'd definitely take one if you decide to run another batch 😉👍
I slid the lock rings off of another S biner and put it on my Ahhs so I could make it a locking ring
As usual... love the work. AND, I would definitely be in on a SPEC-DNT or even a Queen P. I'm queued! THANKS!
I’d recommend doing a copper/brass carry comparison! It sounds hard to make a budget carry out of, but with knives such as the QSP Penguin and pen brands like Smootherpro, you could easily put together a complete brass and/or copper carry for under $250 or maybe even $200. On the flip side, throw some Flytanium brass scales on that mini crooked river of yours and now you’ve got a $330 or so knife.
Also, with this type of video I’d love to see more comparisons as to how they perform functionally at the different price points to help people get a better grasp on whether or not they “need” or even want to dive into higher end EDC.
Thanks for the great video, and thanks for taking the time to read this suggestion!
Just came across your channel the two videos I watched are both very good. Think you have a new fan. 👍
Been watching your channel for a while now, and love it. I'm certainly interested in a SPEC-DNT.
Great video! I'd love to see a "fire" theme. Thanks!
Nice EDC (Fountain pens and pocket notepads)!
This is a great idea! All I need now is a large amount of disposable income and a reason to go outside.
I live for the mini crooked river I love that knife
I went to OfficeMax & I found the Moleskine cahiers, might go with those & order a field notes later... I definitely want a good pen tho !
great ideas man!
I would LOVE to buy one of those SPEC-DNT keyrings 😁
At least your EDC isn't a Namiki pen as I've seen my friend have. Brought their expensive 3k USD FP to a day out to the cabin. Lost it somewhere and we spent the next 2 days searching for it.
Loved this video. If you are looking to do more I think it would be cool to see a "modern" theme
Awesome video. Not sure about the huge price difference though. A titanium / copper themed edc in mid ( maybe low) price range would be very interesting.
Great video and great comparison in prices. For the notebook and pen section I use the "Word notebook" and F-301 by Zebra, the only reason I use the Word notebooks it's because they have a lot of cover designs. One question : what brand are you glasses? I really like them.
Great job on this EDC, especially with the options you provided. My personal preference though would be to carry another knife, maybe a keychain knife that could be inconspicuously mixed in with your keys. But that's just me. ;) ;)
love the video allot! I would love to see a blue or a Ocean theme EDC as well
Great vid as usual. Would love to see a Wild West themed edc as well as a rainbow themed one.
Personally I would have gone for a custom or midtech knife and different wallet but still great stuff!
Please make a video on "forever items" that are useful edc and will last a lifetime maybe 2
i usually don't watch these kinda videos cuz the narration is kinda annoying but omg i love your voice and the way you film! i didn't realise how much of a bag/organisation nerd i was until i watched your vids hehe
Would absolutely buy a rerun of the Kickstarter
I have a lamy pen but rarely use it as it is so high maintenance. Caran d'Ache pencils are good. But a regular Blackwing pencil wins out.
Thank you
I love my casio 91w
Low or no tech ECD kit for "productivity on the go" if you haven't done it 👍👍
Dang dude, my EDC is at most 50 bucks (albeit I dont cary a knife with me for legal reasons), including a wallet and a notepad and everything else. I could add a flashlight as well, which will make it maybe 3 bucks more expensive
Woodland was a good theme to go with I would like to see a black out version of this video
Hey! Just wanted to sday that I'm a new subscriber (since like a couple of days and cant stop watching your videos! Started with the traveler shop and note book video. than sling video) Looks like you talks about all the stuff I love. Can you make an EDC video with purple theme ?! thanks!
I'd be interested in the copper thingy
I would love to see a video of an all orange carry
In the US state I live in, we are allowed to carry firearms - concealed or open. On the higher-end setup, I would say a leather man and a sidearm are the essentials. For a sidearm, the Glock 43 is perfect for concealed carry. Add the leatherman and a sidearm, and we cross into the $2300 range. I have some friends, men and women alike, who by far exceed that with firearm models and their 'must wear' jewelry. It gets pretty ridiculous.
Hey man, great video as always. I have a question for you. I’m about to move to Canada so it would be great if you could let me know about knife carrying and purchasing laws in Canada. Based on my brief research I couldn’t find any source that can answer my questions clearly.
Lamy Safari
Uni Ball Air .7MM
Beechmore Leather green notebook
Herchel wallet
Apple watch 44mm
Benchmade Griptillian
MBP 16
iPhone 13 Pro
Fujifilm XS20
iPad10
DJI mini 2
Airpods pro gen1 (x2)
Gold wedding ring with 3 diamonds (past present future).
I love the video content, just wish the video itself was brighter!
Hey Maurice, I'd be in for a SpecDNT!!
I would love to participate in another run of your self promoted carabiners!
Elementum. 👍.
That Seiko watch is the only thing I would be willing to pay for.
I see knifes and torches in almost every edc video, what tasks do you face on a daily basis in America?
My edc ranges in price, but it’s hovering around $12k at the moment. I love collecting and being extremely functional and prepared.
Do people in Canada not have paywave or eftpos? I feel like carrying 4 physical cards for payments is pretty overkill, when you could really have at most one for emergency backup, and the rest on digital wallets.
Another great video. How about Titanium vs Copper?
You said but with no peach, i miss the peach!
Replace the knives with multitools that have blades to (you can find green or brown swiss knifes)
U R the BEST
I love watching EDC videos but always think to myself, how often do you need a knife when you're out and about?
Depending of where I live and what do I do, from once a month, to multiple times a day :)
Same, and do you really need a $100 knife to like cut an apple once in a blue moon?
@@FilooWoj That's interesting, what do you use the knife for when you're not at home?
@@FilooWoj Cool! Yeah a knife does sound useful in those situations 👌
Most of this is unnecessary. It's just pleases the mind to know you have it on you, but you'll rarely use it.
Hey Maurice. First I really do appreciate your reviews, they definitely help you make good decisions on your purchase. Kudos to you. But my question is, why the knives on you EDC’s. Aren’t they against the law? Just curious.
Civivi is completely legit
Instant subscribe. I do have one thing I wanted to point out, the lighting is a bit low and your videos therefore slightly too dark, in my opinion. I feel the colours didn't pop out as much as they could have, as a result.
I backed the spec dnt and absolutely loved everything but the weight. If it were lighter id still be carrying it today but unfortunately it just lives in a draw
Loved the format of the video, I would though go for a different pen and paper in the 150 kit. I would get a small notebook(B7) from Alpica, which can be had for less than 2 dollars from Jet Pens or Amazon. Then maybe opt for a more expensive fountain pen, like the Pilot Metropolitan (15), or if you want to go cheaper, a Platinum Preppy ($4.50). Zebra does make an F-301 with a fountain pen tip, it's called the V-301. I don't know if it's any good, but it's built like it, can bit had for less than 5 dollars. With the Preppy, you can then do the opt in for the two pens for two different colorways, for around 8 dollars. This of course would screw with the price points of 150 dollars, but not by much. I would have to spend less on the knife, I guess.
On the 1500 one, I would change the pen to a TWSBI ECO for 35 dollars each. I Haven't tested any of the more expensive offerings like an Pilot Vanishing point, but I guess that would be kind of cool too, but that would drive up the cost by 150 dollars.
EDIT: I just realized the Metropolitan is more like 20 dollars nowadays, I guess a replacement for it would be their Kakuno, which is at 12.50. But it's a plastic body, instead of a metal one, but its performance is any better than the Preppy is debatable, so, just stick with that instead.
Waiting for SPEC-DNT
Mobile phone is missing in both setups… so Nokia 1000 and iPhone 13 😜
This may be a stupid question but... Why do you need a knife so badly? I haven't use one outside of the kitchen for the last 30 years. What am I missing?
I use one daily
great edc but where s the multitool ? 😉🤣🤣
Blackout theme
Buck 110 should have been the budget knife. Should have compared a U.S. vs U.S. made knife.
Ok, so while I LOVE my safari, I'm confused how you put together a $1500 edc and chose a $30 pen. If you've got $1500 for an edc get a Pilot vanishing point, or at least a Lamy Al-star maybe... although as much as I love fountain pens, I feel like for edc, a fountain pen is good for a second pen but not first...surprised you didn't get some sorta Titanium bolt action with a space pen refill.
Maybe it's the skin I'm in, but I'm really interested to know what all of these EDC reviewers are doing casually walking around with knives, especially if your day-to-day consistes of subway rides and meetings in a city setting. In my experience, especially travelling for a living (airline job), apart from needing to cut some fruit from time to time, I've found myself missing a pair of scissors for more often than I've ever longed for a knife.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Where's the gun though! Gotta be part of your edc haha.
I would say from a experienced point of view, a leather coloured, camo or even black gear is a NIGHTMARE to see if you lost your gear and trying to search in the woodlands, avoid those colour if you're not in the military, or attach a reflective hi-vis lanyard to it
