As an ultralight backpacker I have been really interested in lightweight powerful flashlights. Most of the backpacking world suggests to buy headlamps, however for nighthiking I, and some other backpackers have found it more useful to hold the light at your hip to cast shadows on the uneven terrain to identify where not to step. Jupiter Hikes highlighted the roryvon A5x and I have been loving using it for backpacking ever since,, so much lighter than the competition and I found the runtime on low setting to be about 8-10 hours which is more than adequate to see the trail at night
Maybe try an L-Shaped Flashlight with a pocketclip? you can attach it to your belt or outside of your pocket so you have free hands. Fenix HM50R even comes with a red LED which doesn't destroy your nightvision.
Awesome to see you repping dcc. I knew the guy when he lived in the frozen north, great fella. I bought one of the first knives he ever made, he let it go for pretty cheap, because the finishing was rough. Now I’m saving up for one of his newer fancier ones.
I recommend the Fenix HM50R V2 Flashlight, I wear it on the Belt of my Slingpack. Can use it hands free when I need light while I walk my dog. It's an L-Shaped Flashlight that can also be worn as headlamp. The pocketclip fits very nicely on these standard polyester belts of backpacks, has a powerful white LED, USB-C rechargable additional red LED which doesn't disturb your lowlight vision.
Just stumbled over this. Excellent overview and consumer i formation. But what really blew me away was the extensive mass of links and info in the textsection. Subscribing!
I like the photon freedom micro 2 for my Keychain flashlight. Also like the rambler /manager SAK series, also obsessed with card tools lol! Thanks for your video content! Happy Thanksgiving! My favorite fixed blade for EDC is tje CS mini Pendleton hunter comes in Aus8 and 3v. I've modified the sheath a little...
Really love this video and have watched it many times because, living in Britain, this is more about things that I can carry, and I definitely agree with you about the victorinox manager, although I have the midnight vision 👌
This is great stuff, I’m an electrician and wear a tool apron at work so much of the edc world is irrelevant for me because I have the real tools. But my leatherman style (scissor model) was my favorite pocket tool ever and finding out it’s discontinued has brought me to your channel. Really enjoying the content and big respect for Knipex in your wallet, i primary Knipex for all my pliers and cutters.
@@maxlvledc I’ve bought loads of different tool wearing apparatus and the front aprons are the most comfortable, hard to go wrong with the carhartt canvas style at less than 30$, custom leather setup would be neat though, some day I’ll maybe make my own.
Great video. I highly recommend the leatherman piranha 2 if you can find one. I carry a tool card in my wallet as well, and actually used the can opener on it once. Worked surprisingly well. I’m obsessed with multifunctional tools as well. Really interested in the wrench pry-bar you have but can’t find one anywhere online right now.
My 3 girls has similar rig, they edc three knives. A full tang, a flipper & Squirt. Me. a credit card multi tool. great show matey. Greetings rom Australia.
I didn't even know Gerber made a black version of the E.A.B. I do have a black version of the Gerber E.A.B lite. It is almost the perfect utility knife. The only negative I would have to say is that changing out the blade is a bit of a hassle. Other than that it's got a small form factor and fits well in the hand...
Hey Max try checking out the nitecore tini 2 keychain light Usb c charging (more prevelant charging cable for android and MacBook users) 500 lumen max, 200 lumen high, 65 lumen med, 1 lumen low Oled screen which shows how long the battery will last, A lock mode to prevent accidental presses 0.66 oz The keychain light is about the size of a thumb so very small $40, a little on the expensive side but considering the size and weight constraints you have a higher probability percentage to actually carry it, highly recommend.
I’m in love with small compact EDC full of useful items, my issue is there isn’t much use for any of them because my life isn’t active enough to require anything (basically walking from my couch to the fridge maybe the bathroom… makes me sad.
Hey I just found this gem of a video. I really like the wallet but I just spent a little on a different one so I might have to put it on my list for next next year. However, this video is great to me because I believe this is the first time I've heard you say...let's just call it harsh language. Lol sorry but I've watched a lot of your videos and it kind of took me by surprise I had to rewind a double check my hearing. Anyways thanks for the info here even if it is a bit old now.
12:11 I love your collection and modifications. I open my EAB LITE by laying flat on my index and middle fingers half open and pressing it with the back of my ring finger and my thumb on the screw that holds the blade and then pushing the thumb, if it is clear enough.
$90 for the Vero mini pry bar, is expensive. Opportunity cost, i.e. probably could get something(s), I'd use and like more, for $90 than a hunk of metal. I do have the Lever Tool Card Pro. I removed the money clip and it fits well in my minimalist wallet, made by Maxpedition.
You have a lot of fancy tools , but you are missing the NITE)IZE wrench that it comes with two double side bits , bottle opener , paint can opener , the ultimate small tool. 👍
I've been carrying the nitecore tip se for the past several months and I think it's great, it's able to clip onto the brim of a hat, or even my nato watch strap, maxes out at 700 lumens with a momentary switch, charges via usb-c (even c to c cables which many small gadgets do not). I think you would like the UI, generally, even though it doesn't have a true lockout. I had wondered why you hadn't already checked it out, but since you mention waterproof ratings are very important to you, I assume it just failed that metric.
@@maxlvledc I thought the shape might bother me initially, but I find because it's short and flat, it feels like less bulk in my pocket than my aaa thrunite
Huge fan of your channel. Would you possibly show a video on how you modified the gerber EAB with the thumb stud? I have one and think the thumb stud is an excellent idea. Thanks!
My mini carry is a MiniChamp (or the Style CS with the bit driver pommel) and a copper RovyVon A9. If I have the Style CS, I’m also carrying the ratchet driver and bit kit *edit* I’m just gonna keep adding to this comment as the video progresses. lol My favorite pry tool is the Prybrid X. Only way it could get better, imo is if they had a little compartment on the back to carry a few spare blades The flip open utility blade thing would be my favorite thing ever if there was a version that used #11 blades
Looking forward to the new i1R 2 Pro coming out. Don't like how the current i1R feels sharp and edgy, or how the light flickers when switching between settings. New one is brighter, smoother, has longer run time and is usb-c. I carry the i3e on my keychain, we'll see if I switch now.
So, weird modding video request. I contacted Victorinox directly and asked them what products had red LED lights and they replied, "None." I have a variety of Victorinox products that have red LED lights and I have found them invaluable. For example, searching around in my purse for ibuprofen for grandchildren with a headache without disturbing other movie-goers and numerous other uses. I know that there are keychain flashlights that have red LED's, but I really like the Victorinox form factors and multi-functions as opposed to a dedicated flashlight. So......my request is a modding video showing how to change out the White LED for a red LED in a small Victorinox multitool, pretty please?
@@maxlvledc I actually have 3 Victorinox with red LED lights. But I am looking to purchase other models for modding purposes and apparently none of their products come with red LED's. Thus, my suggestion for a modding video regarding changing the light out....... But thanks for responding and for your suggestion :-)
I found your channel because of leatherman but now I’m starting to discover the world of edc. These videos are very helpful.
Awesome
multitools really are the gateway drug..

Great vid, per usual! I like how you added the thumb stud to the Gerber EAB. Wish I had your skill to do that to mine!😆

Sure I didn't vote for this one, but I am LOVING this!
The pocket wrench is a beast, really good edc .
Not a big fan of my victorinox Swiss card.
Edc bit holder is a good one too.
Leatherman squirt ps4 would have been an excellent addition.
Did I see you use a diffuser over your Rovyvons? What do you use for that?? I like to have one for my A8. Looks great!
respectfully, from this video i have the impression that you have much more money for boutique “gear” than things to actually fix.
Tinkering and trying to figure out how these all work together is my hobby. Its what I spend my money on.
Surprised you didn't have a Leatherman Micra or squirt in your list.
I've never liked the micra scissors, I've had 7 (only one of them cut properly) I prefer the style ps personally

where did you find a black Gerber eab? Ive only seen the eab lites in black but not the regular only in silver.

Great stuff keep it coming
Love this video, what did you mean when you said that the manager works with the leatherman bit adapter?
Ah, yes, the rebar adapter works with the philips
That be a good edc shirt..a 🚫 on a bottle opener, that reads..." I can open a bottle with anythingANYTHING".
Красота хочу такую же подари мне пожалуйста 👍👍👍👍👍✊✊✊✊✊

It was part of a kit that doesn't exist any more
So is Arc comes out October 17 2023?
The fun stuff starts at 17 minutes!
