I don't have the same budget as this EDC, but the concept and types of tools are pretty much what I am aiming at for my own EDC. With two major differences: I don't pocket carry and my wallet will be something stand-alone. My backpack goes literally everywhere with me, and I have a lot of tech concerns I prepare for, so organization is a huge thing for me.

EDC is what works for each individual....There is no right and wrong. Most people have keys, wallet...and after that anything goes. A lot of my older friends still don't own a smart phone. I carry one, and hardly use it. I like a watch. I carry a multi tool and Knipex Cobra...but rarely seem to use. But...Super handy when needed! I could probably get by with a folding knife...and my SAK Rambler...and a couple of flashlights, and be good...but carry things "just in case"....For a pen on work days....it has to be a one handed one...with no removable cap to lose.

Outstanding job summarizing your EDC, and choices. My favorite watch, hands down, is my Vortic Boston 470 model, which is a piece of history, with a Leatherman Tread watchband. Although it is a little on the heavy side (off-wrist) once you put it on it is very comfortable and gives me 17 additional backup tools.

17:50 it has a dull, thicker "spine" because it is a Bushcraft-style. You need that for hitting it with a large stick to use as a wedge. Usually Bushcraft isnt EDC unless you're in the boonies/Bayou.

Would love to see you review walking sticks, especially linger "trekking poles." I use a 55" stick, 1 1/2 diameter, with a pick up tool and a 90 degree angle light zip tied to it. VERY handy, and adds another flashlight to the ensemble. Can't have too many! I also attach a small Fenix 360 lmen light to a wrist band I wear. Comes in real handy to just be able to touch your right hand to you left and have a light on that is already pointed ahead.

It'd be cool to see some basic emergency medical items in there. Bandaids take up little space and might be used frequently, and a strap-style tourniquet would be used infrequently (hopefully never) but could save someone's life (though, a belt can work). There are probably other reasonable things to include I'm not thinking of.

Also got a Klarus HM3 but I don't like it much. There's no safety for it, it'll turn on easily in your pocket/pouch/bag
If they can upgrade it so you have to fast click 3x to lock/unlock and then long press to turn on/off it would be better. It only has blinking red no solid red, no SOS, no beacon mode either. If they can jam pack all those features in that small headlamp that would be great

Not sure if this is a european thing, but I like the Victorinox better. The quality is better than Leatherman. But I must confess that I worry about scratches and damages much more and even dropping it scares me for a second while a Leatherman feels like you can throw it under a train. Didn’t know about the clip for the Spirit and will try to get one for mine. So far I just saw the additional corkscrew.

The Arc Company Bolder XL is my jam! Mostly I went with the XL because I want my cash folded once. I can't stand trifolding bills. Inside I currently carry cash in the back slot folded in half (I like to have cash for tipping servers and such) and cards in the front two slots (I think 7ish between license, credit cards, and insurance cards). On the front I have a Rite in the Rain Pocket Pen on the left (though you have to be careful since no clip it can slide out when the wallet is open but I've just gotten used to being careful of that) and a RovyVon Angel Eyes E3 on the right (though that might change to an Olight). In the back slot I have a few bandages and business cards. I can't say enough great things about Arc Company stuff. So well designed and made! I also just got The Marksman case to use as an EDC writing kit and have a notebook, Rite in the Rain pen, Rite in the Rain pencil, eraser, and small ruler/template guide in it. It's been just as fantastic as the wallet.

I definitely carry a watch everyday, being prior service on top of growing up in a military household, punctuality was beat into me as early as 3rd grade. At this point I don’t want to know what happens if I don’t wear a watch. No flashlight for my EDC, my eyes are great and if I need one it never has to exceed a few hundred lumins. Gerber Center drive in a kydex sheath with a bit cart and a Gerber StrongArm in a custom kydex sheath on my belt. I use a rigger belt from Wolf Tactical and it’s going on 2 years of every day use and it’s holding up fine. Gerber 06FAST for my pocket knife and a Gerber Lockdown Pry for a pocket pry bar. I have a magpul EDC essential wallet, a Columbia PFG or PHG hat and Twisted X boots. That’s my Appalachian Soldier EDC.

That's a lot of redundancy in your kit at the end. I count 2 scissors, 2 pliers, 3 screwdrivers, 3 blades (I think the arc has 2 or 3?)... Seems like you could ciut a third of it out without losing any functionality. Like, you have 3 multitools alone. (Arc, jetsetter, keyring.) Just seems unnecessary weight.

Hmm, I built the wallet keys as a layer, the multitool is another layer...I do agree to some extent though. I try to only add redundancy that gives different functions. Blades: utility knife, saw, magnacut blade (don't think there is another)

I agree with the complaint, but I also find redundancy tends to happen because tools have minimal configurability. Better to have a little waste in redundancy than to be missing something that comes in handy frequently.

Why does no one consider a flame source as useful for edc? I’m not a rural or survival type, I’m quite urban. But having a little torch lighter is a game changer. Burn off a stray thread, warm up something rubber, loosen a tight bolt with some heat expansion. Not to mention lighting things on fire….

You're not alone. Many people carry a lighter EDC. Hey, 80 years ago everyone did just for a smoke.
Speaking of that, I'd live to see a quality flashlight with an arc lighter on it (though, yes, they aren't usable for all applications a gas lighter is).

How can you carry a wallet, a key fob, a knife, a phone, a leatherman, a flashlight without looking like a Napoleon Dynamite?

Surprised you done have at least lighter. But I like that your approach doesnt have all fit in one case. Dads wear cargo shorts for a reason. Lol
