He was really a sweet guy just a terrible drunk. I did covered the Sweet from the B. Side of Little Willy. A huge hit here but a song we all laughed at. My best friend was Dave Wyndorf of Monster Magnet fame. We were into B.O.C./ Sabbath/ Grand Funk/ Hawkwind/ etc. We lived 42 mins from N.Y.C. and had a great record store. My bands were TYRANT ( punk) The BEAST (raw metal) and Glorionblak (space rock). All my music is on Y.T. The SWEET ❤️. Go to Andy Scott’s Channel. He has the entire history and keeps the name alive. This band is so fucking underrated it isn't even funny. Funny how you mention Led Zeppelin here sir. I would dare compare their musical work and influence to Led Zeppelin. I mean, come on, perfect pitch high harmonies, beautiful guitar work, meaty bass, star singer, and let's not forget the beautiful complex drum work. Seriously, how did this band not become bigger than they were? I'm telling you, these guys are the Led Zeppelin of Glam Rock.
    I mean, Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, but to be honest I'm more influenced by Andy Scott than Jimmy Page. Page has done his fair share of wonderful work, but Scott...he deserves a thousand times, hell, even a million more times credit than he ever got.

      Wholeheartedly agree! Andy is an absolute legend, my number one guitar hero. This fab four have continually been ignored and under rated by the music world. Their influence on other bands is immense, and yet they are often overlooked and snubbed in this country. I get them played on Planet Rock as often as I can, so the uninitiated can hear their music and realise what they've been missing! Such an important band, each one of them so talented....but together so special. I will love them forever.

      I agree to what you say. The Sweet is one the rare rock bands that I like a lot all the songs or almost all their songs. Perhaps more than Deep Purple.. I don't know.. Buut , I prefer the Sweet to Led Zep.. the Sweet had a large spectrum of styles.. not only glam-rock..
      Happy new year 2018 from France!

    • @georgesfotic550
      @georgesfotic550 6 лет назад +4

      Oh yes, I forgot to tell that some Germans, fans of the Sweet, said to me that the band was perhaps more popular than Queen and Abba, in Germany, in the 70's.. Happy new year 2018 once again from Paris

    • @andreasuhlbrandt6743
      @andreasuhlbrandt6743 3 года назад +1

      I do agree, They always were better than their image gave us to belive. Maybe their own fault partly, but their earlier bubblegum hits are still good and if we remember well, they are classic hits, hits what Beatles did.
      Sweet is not Zep or Purple but they are Sweet like Queen is Queen, the band who ripped ogg a lot from Sweet. Andy and Brian May are friends today and all the past is fine. Sweet would have been one of the biggest bands if Brian could have solved out his problems with alcohol and his inner problems.

    Brian Connolly could sing, Robert Plant was a singer but nothing like Brian. This song has similarity with Zep´s songs, but cum on..... All those 70´s bands took riffs from each others and that only makes 70´s music so unique, which one of them sounded best.
    I think Burning by Sweet is better than Immigrant Song.

    I have almost said everyhting about SWEET, but quite seriously this track should have been released as a single in 1977, maybe as a bit softer version, don´t know, but it´s good, excellent good. She Gimme Lovin`. They were "sweet" version of Zep, their fault was they hadn´t a real target and path where to go. They always had compromises and somehow, they couldn´t get critics positively and it was like middle of the Road type of music.
    They had ambitition but something was missing. Finally Level Headed -album finally showed they are masters of Rock, rock´n´roll and headin to more progressive rock mixed with a quality of poppish sound as well.
    Who knows they would have been ended to be the band, like Pink Floyd mixed the Who sound.
