An absolutely fantastic song from the Level Headed album, often overlooked.
I like this tune SO MUCH, I made an extended version on cd to listen to in the car - Andy's guitar solo is in this version TWICE - set to a few video clips almost exclusively of ANDY SCOTT.
Everytime I hear this, I get chills and goosebumps. I don't know why SWEET didn't release this as a single, but then in 1978 in the UK, they would have been going head to head with the likes of The Clash and The Sex Pistols! Music was definitely changing in 1978.
Anyway - a fabulous song, I love Mick's drumming during the solo, reminds me of the tv show Bonanza's theme tune - sort of horse hooves galloping LOL.
Like Gold, this song is like gold. Beautiful and inspired. One of my favourite songs :-)
I don't know why the video seems so jumpy - the original I made isn't like it :(

It's a scandal that these guys could write and perform music like this that reaches all the emotions, and never be truly acknowledged for the work they did. I don't know how Andy Scott feels but I am angry on behalf of the other 3 - Brian, Mick and Steve. Andy should be too. Maybe he is and has to be philosophical about it.

Unfortunatly lots of great artist, even some writers, never really get known for their great work. & even if the get promoted to hell by the media, it still doesn't always lead to great success.
Andy was the Mcartney of Sweet, the workaholic, so I'm sure he is confident that he gave it his best & still had greater success than most most.
& now he's the only one left.

A gorgeous song, by a flawless band. "Level Headed" is one of the greatest progressive rock albums ever released.

Fountain is a fantastic song, i always found level headed a slightly patchy album, to me its the cross over from the hard rock mid 70's period and heading to a more adult general rock syndrome, in other words sweet grew up musically.
Other great songs came after, try mother earth and discophony off cut above the rest,
their big mistake is that they should have sorted brians problems and not sacked him,thats why the last 3 albums like them or not sank without a trace.
Thats history now.

Brian had to be let go. He was sadly in the throes of addiction. They couldn’t continue to carry him . If they had it would have been enabling him continue as he was without change. Addiction is a disease I’m sure it was hard to let Brian go. But they diy the right thing. I don’t think they “ sacked “ him. I think they made a joint decision based on the situation at hand.

Agreed! When I first heard the longer Harpsichord version about 10 years ago, I suddenly felt "cheated" out of this amazing song because the American Release of "Level Headed" had a cut down version Which I instantly loved. I HATE when "music executives" decide what we get to hear, reminds me of lock downs and masking. GRRRRRRRR!
It's my second fave. "Love Is Like Oxygen" is my all-time #1 favorite song by Sweet! 😎

Love this song. The "Bach like" keyboard at the end is cool. The last few notes always send chills up my spine, lol. Great that you tacked on the part in the dressing room. Always good to see them half naked, lol (or Mick totally if you see the Bubi Heilemann pics of him on the couch).
