Unbelievable! One of the most original songs (so different from anything else they did) and one of the most talented bands in history, in my opinion. Gonna watch it again. Completely awesome!
That was the beauty of this band
They were so versatile and never got the credit they deserved
3:54 3:54 3:54 😊
4:53 😊 .
I love to see reactions from young people of today…thes mega band should feature highly on their lists!,
I've always loved this song but only learned a couple of years ago that Solid Gold Brass is an actual saying
Brian and Steve’s voices blended very well together.
They playing well together & it's funny , rather it's notable seems to step up together ( in ode to connecting . Like inconspicuously...know what I mean ?
Brian and Steve: the two sides of the same coin, one was the tormented, serious, dramatic side, the other the funny, playful, histrionic side. Different and equal...in life they were bound together by a sincere and affectionate friendship, now they are together in death...with them also Mick and we can really say that the best are gone...
What a talented group every member can take over solo vocals anytime simply amazing.
One of the most underrated bands of the 70's bloody fantastic muso's!!!!!!!!!
Stllno So may times I have read this comment about Sweet. THEY WEREN’T under rated, they were loved by hordes. The statement just isn’t factual.
@@todaywefly4370 completely agree loved by millions rated legends
...no..
@@todaywefly4370 totally agree! There’s was a ton of competition in the 70’s. They rated pretty damn good! The word overrated is overused. Cheers!
@@todaywefly4370 I think their point is that of the bands of the 70s Sweet hasn't been talked about or gotten a lot of attention in more recent years, especially in comparison to so many other bands of the '70s
One of the best drummers ever and is so Underrated as is the band Sweet
Mick Tucker made me drummin'!
Mick definitely one of the greats. Just incredible.
YES ! i MISS THEM !
Desolation Blvd. is one of the most underrated albums of all time!
I totally agree tho it was alway always my favorite. Still is and very hard to point to a bad song on the whole album, oops there isnt one. All the songs were awesome
Give Us a Wink was a great album as well.
R.I.P. Steve Priest as of today.... man he was fantastic!
This is awesome. What an amazing sound. Hard to believe that this was 42 years ago
Where are you from? I´m from Finland. I´m so, so sorry, that I was about 10-12 years old, when this band was on top :( !!! But in RUclips I found them again!!! Wonderful band!! Who is your favorite? What is your favorite song? My favorite is Stevie, of course, but I love Brian, Mick and Andy as well :) !! Wonderful, they all!!! And my favorite song is The Sixteens, though I love all their songs, like Solid Gold Brass, The Man With The Golden Arm, No You Don´t, Fever of Love, Poppa Joe, Wig Wam Bam, Little Willy and so on.....:) !!!
Ray Sharp I was hatched three months prior on 8/11/74 and I'm old as dirt. And these guys were already belting out heavy metal. it's just mind boggling
Maybe it's hard to believe that today just few bands have learnt something from the past or aren't making something original...
Give us a wink, Desolation Boulevard etc. the other side of SWEET. The time ahead for all times. RIP Brian and Mick.
True
SWEET HAVE SOMETHING SPECIAL IN HIS MUSIC AND SOUND, WHAT NO ANY OTHER BAND HAVE. SOME SUGARCOAT ON HEAVYNESS , MATERIALIZED IN ONE AND ONLY BRIANS VOICE AND SPECTACULAR SONGS AND SOUND. THAT'S MAGIC. SWEET FOREVER, WE LOVE YOU.
I was thinking at 1:48 how Mick yells "Yeah!" and how supportive that was given Brian's voice was still recovering, and how that was a really lovely moment.
And then Steve sang "arseholes" and I burst out laughing.
My take as well, that Mick was digging that Brian pulled off his part so well.
Awesome observation!
It seems like Brianis looking to Steve for a little support. I love to see the interplay.
@@barbarameyers2007 not evident at this stage but I always thot Andy and Mick were a little jealous of Brian's popularity...Steve always seemed more sympathetic...especially when he started falling apart...
@@decemberschild12173 definitely not Mick, he was the most supportive towards Brian, never jealous. Both Mick and Brian were in a band together before Sweet, they have a close bond and Mick always defended Brian.
I had to watch this again in order to fully absorb the plethora of talent that Sweet showed in this performance. Their musicianship and vocal abilities knew no limits. IMO Brian, Steve, Andy and Mick each had uniqueness which factored in their success. I saw some type of interaction between Mick and Brian--seeing Mick smile told me that he enjoyed performing as I've no doubt so did the other band members. *2:01* Bravo to Steve for adding a bit of vibrato to "Ahhhhhhr-sole."
🤭😛🤩
As a 19 year old, i feel like i missed out so much on these guys, luckily music can be preserved forever!
Glück gehabt! Bleib' dran, es gibt noch sooooo viel zu entdecken.
Die 60er und 70er Bands.... finde es heraus! Viel Spaß ❤
yep you did
The bubblegum hits they had were written by Chinn and Chapman the heavy stuff (this) is their own creation, like night and day. I grew up with Sweet and have many fond memories (and singles) of them, many thanks for this and the other tracks from Musikladen.
Edit: Subscribed
This is one of the best videos I came across! Live sound that is great and damn good playing! Showcases all of the instruments especially the drums and the lead guitar
1974. There's guys were sooooo influential.
Great to see bits of this " Musikladen" performance appearing on RUclips. This is a brilliant track,it's ahead of it's time in my opinion and really demonstrates how versatile the individual band members were. Definitely one to file under " not a bubble gum band."! ( And Steve forgetting his lyrics around 2.0:2 is lovely :-) )
I agree. Sweet surprised me again and again.....I was just a child, when I listened Sweet and I loved the songs, that were so easy to sing along. But here on RUclips I have seen and listened Sweet, which is a pop band, a hard rock band and something like this.....wonderful!!!! I have no words, but I love this Sweet so much!!! Where are you from? I´m from Finland.
I agree totally, although in later years i believe the rest of the band underestimated the brilliant vocals of Brian Connelly. Totally underestimated as musicians , where they killed was as a band .Individually after Sweet ....
Yeah, what does he say there? "Sobs" or something? It should have been "don't talk about her that way", I think.
That's what he gets for laughing when Andy Flubbed a note!!! LOL!!!
@@tombelanovic7686 I think he says "arseholes". Classic Steve. 😂
Mick giving Andy an ovation for the guitar solo at the very end is a great moment.
2:30 Amazing bass solo!!!! You the best Steve Priest!!!
Man oh man, maybe my favorite sweet tune, rompin' stompin' rock and roll with that swinging jazzy interlude, so great 🎸🎼🎵🎶
Four individul men who knew what to do, and did it. That make SWEET to a Top Group. Simple.as as that.
No words ... but ... so genious !!! SWEET FOREVER !!! :D
Best Band. Brian had an international Voice.... Top. Great.... 4 nice Rockers..... Steve was a Bass Goldie. RICKENBACHER RULES. Mick was a cool Drummer on super Ludwig Drums. Andy please Rock on .....Dee from Stuttgart
Danke für die wahren Worte. Inga, ehemalig Schwabenlandbewohnerin. 64 j.
My favorite band of all time 🎤🎸🎸🥁 greetings from Swabia 🤘
Great performance ...and I have to say a lot of Musikladen footage was well recorded
Andy Scott - master of his lead guitar craft.
I agree. I must say, that Andy´s guitar playing remember to me Jimi Hendrix, in the positive way, you know? Andy´s playing was SO GOOD, I LOVE IT!!!! Where are yo from? I´m from Finland.
Sure. A very under-rated guitar talent of that epic era.
We're from London. Andy would have fitted right in with D. Purple / Led Zep / Black Sabb if any of their lead guitarists had gone the way of the great Jimi H.
Loved The Sweet they were great musicians They were not taken seriously by the heavy rock brigade and they didn't do moon and June love songs so they didn't really appeal to teenyboppers either
Damn...That's a good...very good performance . Not an easy song to performe live.
each one so sexy, so very talented and so sweet … thanks god for this Music experience in my youth! I loved them and I still do!!!
One of a kind band, bought my first sweet record back in 74 desolation Boulevard still listen to it today along with give us a wink. One of the best bands in the 70's
Die unterschätzteste Band ever. Jungs ich liebe Euch bis heute💖💖💖💖
RIP Brian, Mick und Steve Ihr fehlt so sehr 💓💓💓
Holy crap this is just SO incredibley GOOD.
Mick Tucker: what a drummer.
One off the Best
Stick spinner
Brian was one of my Big Childhood crushes (even got the haircut when I was 8).
BUT Mick overtook it. That Drumming. I can watch him for ages. I picked up the Drums for awhile, just didn't have the Discipline. My Teenage Niece has picked up the drums and do I give her the encouragement to keep going... So there is something there, that makes me love watching a good Drummer. Jerry Nolan from New York Dolls was another great Drummer to watch. And they're not over the top or need Fancy Stage Props (Tommy Lee - Motley Crue)
Just good strong Drummers. BUT Mick Tucker, ahhhhh to have been a young Adult back in the 1970's, to see this all live, watch him play. I also love watching the interactions between him and Steve Priest, you have to keep an eye on them, it's really 'sweet'.
Hope they're having a great time together with Brian, wherever they are - 'There is a Rock'n'Roll Heaven' so the song goes...
amazing drummer! just fantastic!
@@mimipavlovsky I agree about Mick. Fantastic. I love watching him in these Musikladen videos. He really shows so much personality and happiness and is totally in his element with this kind of music. I've heard people say he seemed shy, but not to me. He always seems ok talking at interviews, and he has some funny stage antics and shout-outs in concerts. Just seems so fun to have known. RIP dear Mick. We miss you (and Brian and Steve too).💗
Классная вещь.Песня несколько тягучая,но показывающая весь профессионализм группы.Браво.
Универсальные роккеры!
Steve and Brian his epic voices
How many bands can sound this good completely live and sound sooo much like the recording (a wee bit of feed back and all)!!
Simply put, Sweet is the Greatest glam rock band ever
And high among the best heavy metal bands ever.
What a badass team.
At the time they were from a different universe and 44 years later they still are..
This was the last song on the American/Canadian release of Desolation Boulevard. I think it was the best song on the album.
Saw Sweet circa 1979 when they opened for Foghat in Hershey, PA. They blew EVERYONE away that night. Excellent concert!! Desolation Boulevard is still one of my favorite albums today!!
Love Sweet love Brian!
I love Brian so much.
Legendary men"s 👍👍👍
Love the jazz riffs on this.
Raw fucking brilliance....two listens and I was hooked
Legend !!!!
Love this, good sound.
4 very talented musicians that should be in the RnRHOF. 😢
At the end of the song I heard the making of Eruption by Eddie Van Halen, possibly an inspiration. I am just now hearing these songs for the first time, these guys were great rockers, as I only knew of their hits before now. Keep rockin forever dudes!
What a really top notch performance!
Delightfully raw but somehow still very true to the recorded sound.
The best clip I’ve ever seen of them ..awesum
One of the greatest bands of the 70's! \m/
Steve messed up his line and recovered nicely. Some of these videos, I almost think Brian is considering getting the verse right and I can relate. I've sang in bands and messing up lines was my big fear. You have to be prepared to recover on the fly. That's rock and roll.
Wow, this cool jam from them....
Thanks for your Sweet-Sound 🎶
Best band ever.
Love you 💕
R.I.P. Brian 🎤, Mick 🥁 and Steve 🎸
They all sing and play like Angel's
Man they were awesome. Jazzy like. Hard rock for sure and glam out of this world!! Everyone of them were so underrated and should be in the rock and roll hall of fame ❤️
Это настоящие Sweet!
Ich kann das alles nicht glauben. Ich sehe und höre diese songs vom Musikladen heute zum ersten Mal. Niemals hätte ich gedacht, welch top Qualität diese fantastischen Musiker hatten. Unglaublich!
Es haut mich echt um. Bin 64.
Great stuff from a great, underrated, band!
Just love the beginning where Andy makes a mistake and Brian and Steve look at him :D

Rock n' Roll at it's finest...with some soul..
BEST BAND EVER,NO JOKE !!!!!
Brian is really good on keeboard in this song !
I'm a man, not a mother!
Surpreendente o Sweet..grande banda .. inesquecível...quantas alegrias que eles me proporcionam...amo vocês!!!! 🇧🇷💕🇧🇷💕🇧🇷💕 Quantas saudades...
i love this song.... all of you r amazing .. i love yall.... we miss you Steve Brian Mick and we know Andy does
0:08 Steve laughing at the mistake! Awesome. My favourite band and in my top 5 albums along with Rainbow Rising and ELP's first. And Andy so underrated in the day. The solo at the end of Sweet FA is brilliant.
+Mulyanis77 Plus Mick Tucker... I don't have the words. Born a drummer that guy.
I think the whole band is underrated!!! The whole band is OMG so good!!!! Andy´s solo was wonderful! But also Steve, Mick and Brian are brilliant!!!! Where are you from? I´m from Finland.
+Päivi Partanen Cheers from Canada!
How is the weather in Canada? Here, in Finland, it´s raining and the weather is very bad, water and snow.....But do you like singers like Jim Carrey, Leonard Cohen,, Celine Dion? I like a lot!!!!
+Päivi Partanen early spring here. Those performers are all great. Not my faves but very good nevertheless.
i'm really getting kicks out of the jazzy piece in the middle of the song. it sounds terrific!
I would have loved to have been at this gig! Bubble gum pop... They could play that and fair dinkum rock! Geez... These guys were the real deal!!!!!
Although people can call it what they want, fact remains that the band went through 4 musical stages : Bubblegum Pop 1970 - 1971 - Glam Rock 1971 - 1973 - Rock n Roll 1974 - 1978 and progressive rock 1978 to 1981
This song is from 1974. ;)
Amazing! Hard to believe this is only 2 years after Poppa Joe and Little Willy...
I have always thought of this as one of my favourite tracks, but only recently learned the meaning of 'Solid Gold Brass'
Yeah, I used to think they were singing about drugs.
great rock band!!many people think they were bubblegum pop, but not true!!!
Andy Scott's vocals near the begining reminded me very much of Freddie Mercury. Sweet were and still are one of my fav bands of all time. Great musicians, great guys too. Liked by a wide variety of people from heavy rock musicians that apprceiated their talent to the teeny boppers on TOTP's
Von wegen Teenieband. Hochbegabte Musiker, jeder für sich. Super !
Extraklasse!!!
WE LOVE SWEET!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Don't make em like this anymore...
KICK ASS GENERATION
Love it !!!!!
Really good version. Heavy!!!
SOLID GOLD RAW ROCK...
fantastic playing by Scotty and great interaction with mick
In this video and others in Musikladen (No You Don´t, Burn On the Flame) the whole band is magnicifent! I agree, fantastic playing by Andy, I enjoy that, and fantastic bass playing by Steve, Brian is great, Mick is great!!! Everything works, wonderful!!! Where are you from? I´m from Finland.
Australia
Is there hot in Australia now? Here in Finland it´s only raining....Isn´t AC/DC a band of Australia? It was in Finland, in my city 2015. I could listen to it on my balcony. It isn´t my favorite band, but maybe two-three of AC/DC:s songs I like. Do you like that band or other talented of Australia: Heath Ledger, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe etc.?
+Päivi Partanen It will be 32 deg here today so a little hot. Yes ac/dc are from australia i have there first 3 albums before they had any line up changes and bon scott was the singer.
+Päivi Partanen russell crowe is a good actor i think
GREAT!!!
steve is the best, gotta love that guy
Que grande banda, ouço desde os 70 e cada vez gosto mais.
RIP Steve Priest!
❤❤❤❤ eins für jedes Bandmitglied ....for ever
what a voice Brian had - never heard that before;)
Einer der 10 besten SWEET Songs ever! R.I.P. Brian und Mick
Blind Melon was definitely listening to this, when they wrote "No Rain".
Probably at Axl Rose's house in Lafayette - this has to have shaped Axl as well!
Axl mentioned in 2012 that Sweet was his other favorite band besides Queen.
What a fun jam!
Love love this song ❤️♥️💕

A teenage Girl, usually around 16, who dresses as if she were older and is sexually active and prefers older men. Made famous by the rock band "Sweet"
Didn't knew that one..
Wow...wish I'd seen the original Sweet ;)
Where are you from? I´m from Finland. I have loved Sweet all my life, but I was too young on 70´s to go to see them in concerts. And I don´t know, has Sweet had a concert here in Finland on 70´s? I don´t really know. But now, as a middle-aged woman, I love Sweet, still and maybe more than when I was a young teenager...I wish too, that I could turn time to the past and I could see this WONDERFUL band in live... but, we can´t do that, that´s a pity... But it´s so fine, that we can see Sweet now here in RUclips, though that isn´t the same that being in a live concert....What are your favorite songs of Sweet and what is your favorite in Sweet? Mine is Steve Priest, though I love them all. Their all songs are so so good, that....today I have listened Blockbuster, Wig Wam Bam, Little Willy, Funny Funny, Musikladen: No You Don´t, The Six Teens, Solid Gold Brass and so on... Yesterday I listened Poppa Joe, Action, and so on.... I started always by listening Funny Funny, because it makes me so happy :) !!! Then I listen more Sweet and other bands/artists too...

It's impossible,
2:00 Steve Forgot What To Say 😂 So He Said Asssssholess
Wow, this is killer! I was (and still am) a huge Sweet fan when I was just a kid, and seeing this footage (I love Musikladen because the bands actually play live as opposed to either live singing over a pre-recorded music track or just plain out lipsyncing), and the fact it was never broadcast before........priceless. Thanks for putting this stuff up for everyone to watch. For old fans like me, it's a great blast from the past. Cheers!!!!!
Hi! Where are you from? I´m from Finland. Me too, I was just a kid, when I heard Sweet on the radio. Fox On The Run. I had my very first record player and I recorded Fox On The Run. Then I heard on the radio Finnish songs, but they were the cover versions about Sweet´s Wig Wam Bam, Little Willy and so on. Now, as an adult, I have found Sweet again here in RUclips and more and more songs.....The Sweet was/is a WONDERFUL band, I get never tired to listen Sweet`s songs. I love also Musikladen, but all Sweet videos are so, so good....What is your favorite song? Mine is The Sixteens, but all are so good. What is your favorite of Sweet? I love them all, but Steve is my favorite...he has something more than anybody else....
I'm in Canada (Montreal QC), but grew up in the Maritimes (New Brunswick) and my family used to take trips to the USA, mostly Maine and Massachusetts, and I'd buy records, mostly 45's, for like 25 - 50 cents, and 2 of those singles were Ballroom Blits and Fox On The Run. From there, I heard them on K-tel compilations (mostly Little Willy) and then I got a copy of Desolation Boulevard and it blew my mind! Just like these videos did. Are they commercially available, the Musikladen performances? I haven't seen it advertised anywhere, but I guess I haven't really looked too hard. I'll have a look now.
+hashysh13 this concert is part of a box dvd set called action the ultimate story
+mick Warnie I have since figured that one out, I'm just waiting 'til I can afford to order one. Unfortunately, there's a lot of stuff on there I don't really want. I was hoping the live disc would have something with the original line up but it's all 86 and 92. Isn't there a full concert of their show at the Rainbow in 73 that I thought i saw here one time, but I guess not because I'm sure it'd be there, and a lot of the old TV appearances have dubbed audio and the band lip syncing to it (I know, it was the 70's and loltv sound engineers didn't do so well mixing music for tv), but overall it's worth having. I'll just try to get one on the cheap is all. Thanks for the info though, I still appreciate it even if I already knew about it. Cheers!!!!!

This was my favorite non-hit by Sweet. I always loved how the song went from rock to jazz, & back to rock.
