No videos then to promote , bands like these had to get on the road as they say hard work and graft ,real musicians
There were videos- but apart from the core psychedelic era of 1966-69, or when later, advanced camera and editing effects came in, most of the videos before the 80s were straightforward live performances. The videos were made for ToTP and similar shows to market the groups when they were trying to break America, or one of them was off sick and nobody else could adequately fill in, etc.- or if they REALLY didn't want to meet J****y S*****e for some reason.
Yes not like today’s puppets
There were videos back then. The Beatles and Roy Orbison had made videos. Queen made 4 promotional videos in 1973. Benny Hill made one for Ernie The Milkman in 1971.
Great music great band there's only one left now Andy..........RIP Brian Steve and Mick 😢
Ok, this is the one. I've seen many claims to the thrown but THIS has got to be the short doc that inspired the original short Spinal Tap film. Yes, I love The Sweet, and this doc shows their talent, dedication, humor and just flat out intelligence. But I think Rob Reiner saw it and said "let's do that, but for laughs."
A great band my first single in 1973 Hell raiser still love it
2023 still going not bad for a band Andy gave ten years, still enjoying the music 50 years later ,thanks Andy ,Brian ,Mick, Steve, rock out \m/
The❤good❤old times😢
My heroes ❤
I remember playing support to these guys at the Lion Club in Warrington. It was the late-60s and they were called The Sweetshop back then.
A legend of a band kings of. Glam rock
Really enjoyed this, The Sweet were brilliant, and along with Slade were my favourite glam bands. The had some cracking songs too, 1 number one, and a lot of songs stalled at number two. Some great albums too.
My two favourites also
Here in Germany they had 8 ( in words eight... ) number ones...they had their biggest following here in Germany !
@@drummerman1964 Wasn't 'Defender' also a sizeable hit quite recently in the German charts ?
@@TheHumbuckerboy THE SWEET for me are Connolly, Priest, Scott, Tucker...and it ended for me when Brian left...
@@drummerman1964 Brian was also my favourite .
The Sweet were a great band they managed themselves and they spent their own money and write their own songs also I. had all their albums they had some of their songs written by Nick Chapman and Chinn the Sweet for ever a fan always.❤😊
Excellent documentary.......fantastic talented band for sure.....
I love this band. Always will.
They were amazing 😊
My best mate at school was the son of Frank. E.Torpey.
We used to play in the recording studio, but I never knew his Dad was famous even back in the 80-90's.
While the Xmas performance exists, sadly the official upload here on YT is censored :( Thankfully I have multiple uncensored copies.
Favorite song, live, is “No you don’t”, powerful beat and at the same time it’s got it’s fun time, with Mick losing his drumsticks and getting Andy to chuckle it out. 🇨🇦👍😄
Yep, Mick never took himself too seriously. Like on the live at Musikladen videos where he was playing tubular bells and hit a sour note. He just smiled like the Cheshire Cat and kept on playing.😂
Loved the Sweet.
