- 1975 the hard rock band Nazareth with singer Dan McCafferty performed live in the Austrian music show Spotlight. It became a legendary concert.
Spotlight was a music show for the youth, which was aired between 1968 and 1978 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). It was the counterpart to the shows "Beat Club" or "Musikladen" in Germany.
A Scottish band playing a song about Las Vegas written by a Canadian in front of an Austrian audience!

06/07/2019-still looking for raw talent like We had in the 70’s. No computers or faking it as well as musicians were still allowed to express themselves without the restraint of the corporate machine
Though no live of course, the singer is incredible.
When we meet again ❤😇♥️
Ich bin 66 Jahre das war unsere Zeit die beste Musik aller Zeiten
Эта музыка и теперь ЛУЧШАЯ! ❤
I am also 66 and have to agree, brilliant times to grow up with music 🎶
Ist es doch immer noch, oder?
I am 61, grew up in southern Sweden, and Nazareth together with Slade were my absolute idols of my teen years. Still love them dearly. Of course you undeservedly feel kind of proud of contemporary swedish bands as Ghost and Dirty Loops, but they do not thrill my souls as much as listening to Slade or Nazareth albums from back then. Those memories from the 70's ..... Music is indeed magical and unrivalled when it comes to nostalgical trips of the soul.

Nazareth, possibly the most overlooked under rated bands of all time, so many great songs and Dan McCafferty one of the best front men ever
Who underrated them besides you?
I agree. Hair of the Dog was a masterpiece and it's never mentioned today. by anyone. I keep waiting for Professor of Rock to do a story about them, but .... crickets........

Just found out a little while ago that Dan McCafferty of Nazareth passed away yesterday. I'm so fucking bummed. Man was he talented and one of the greatest singers of all time. Also is very underrated as far as rock music goes and lead singers. Writing this with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. Dan you we're much loved by my friends and I growing up and listening to your music. There will never be another one like you and you will be sorely missed. Shout out to all the Nazareth fans that are all across the world. Put on your favorite Nazareth song and Crank It Up. Keep Dan in your heart and his songs in your soul. My condolence to his loved ones family and friends and every Nazareth fan that's out there. Rest in peace Dan. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and music.

Yesterday Dan McCafferty died, peace on his mind! This was my favorite song of Nazareth band. I had the honor to talk personally to them at the airport after their concert in 2004.
So sad to hear that Dan Mccafferty had passed away, loved his voice. Nazareth were part of my teenage years. Like you this is my favourite Nazareth song.

DP, great story. I too list this song as my favorite!
Wow, DP and Graham we all have in common a love for this song. Great minds think alike! They really rocked this Joni Mitchell tune, so killer! An excellent performance on this show, the band was beyond tight!
Had a weird friendly Spinal Tap moment with Nazareth. Just discovered their music online this week (amazing band) but my old Funk and soul pub band was offered a local gig in their home town as a support act. We actually said no because supporting a huge rock band as a tiny pub covers band for a few quid for beer seemed weird and we were only together for a month. Now after seeing them turn up with full stacks to smallish gigs on RUclips they just seemed like they were typical ultra chill East Coast lads who lived to rock as seasoned pros.
If they had ego and bravado they would probably be so much bigger but thats not how folk are here. Maybe they could have thrown a TV out a hotel window and repaired the damage themselves. Rock n Roll is so much hype! RIP Mr friendly Rockstar.
Ohne Kommentar, daß bringt heute keiner mehr , einfach nur Klasse . Wer in dieser Zeit Jung war kennt die großen Gruppen alle .😂😂

As a Scot, I’m incredibly proud of Nazareth, Dan’s vocals are extraordinary and he deserves to be better thought of as one of the best vocalists out there. Great live band 🥰
Spot on mate, that guy had the voice of a fucking superstar, I don't know how they didn't dominate the world.
And one of a long line of Scots rock singers that were and are similarly brilliant, like Brian Connelly, Bon Scott, Jimmy Barnes and Colin Hay (as an ex pat Sassenach living in Oz, every time I hear any of the last 3 I think of Dan, as they're all so similar in terms of talent, tone and phrasing). Must be summat in the genes.
Couldn't agree more Rosemary. He was very underrated. An amazing rock voice. To my mind the best.
@@clivemilson2372 Def under appreciated and underrated.
Rosemary , as a fellow Scot, I am delighted to tell you I saw them live as a youth. Dan was effortless in his delivery. Just the best . The band were all virtuoso. Their rendition of Morning Dew was groundbreaking.

Joni Mitchell, really hit gold with this song!
It was a Joni Mitchell cover from 5 years earlier!
I do NOT GET how Dan McCafferty is not the household name he deserves to be. Honestly, this is the guy that birthed a million rock singers. Steven Tyler, Axl Rose, Brian Johnson... and pretty much every metal singer from the 80s, owe a debt to Dan. He is untouchable..
100% BS!
You're so right that's why in my household everybody knows who Nazareth is
Agree.
Yes sir ain't that the truth but in my mind this band is legendary, they just don't make them like that anymore
He is amazing but your retarded if u think he birthed more metal singers than ozzy and dio the gods of metal. Dan is a pop rock hard rock at most brian was singing with his acdc voice in his old band with geordie so that's out the window. Great band to see live. I've seen them 3 times back in their prime. Heavy beat with Dan's heavy vocals. Great memories.
Dio was the best, but it's true: next in line would be Dan.
@@YaoEspiritothey were both fantastically talented vocalist, as were many in that era. But. Ronnie James Dio was just in a league of his own. As Dan does, Ronnie could send out chills. What a fantastic era of rock that was in which to grow up. Strange how music can take us directly back to moments in our pasts. 'How many came here from Nancy? HA I would have demanded royalties if I was Naz !!'
Too late now but yeah.. I never put the two together till she said something about it.. Trippy..
I actually never knew Nancy borrowed this riff for Barracuda! So had to come and hear it! And wow its so close I see why Nazareth was pissed being Barracuda was a big hit!
It’s the same galloping rhythm but the chords Heart put over the top changes it immensely and gives it much more power.
It wasn't Nancy, it was Roger Fisher, founding member of Heart and lead guitarist back then...also a major songwriter on those first four Heart albums. He was playing the riff at soundcheck one night...prob because he had Nazareth's song in his head. The thing is, it took Roger and Heart to turn it into an actual song! All Nazareth had was "dun-dundundun-dundundun-dundundun" -- it was Heart who added the next two chords, which takes it to another level, and MAKES it!
The song is a cover of Joni Mitchell. Sorry Naz, no royalties.
He sings with heart..simple and rare!! Love !!!
I totally agree.

You bet ! Back in the early 70s it was muscle cars and Nazareth blasting away on the powered up 8 track players. I remember cruising the town strip and blasting away
Loud N Proud while others were cruising around blasting Zeppelin. They would come over and ask me Who's that ? And soon all you heard was Nazareth blasting up and down the town strip.
