Fabulous drummer. The intro to Ballroom Blitz is amazing - so relaxed, and it has this quality that seems to feel like it's slowing down all the time, but it isn't. Just brilliant!
In Australia we had an album called "Sweet Singles Album". It only contained 4 singles (Blockbuster, Hellraiser, Ballroom Blitz & Teenage Rampage), but what made it so good was the seven "B" sides they gathered up to make a full album. None of these brilliant songs had previously appeared on any album. They were the "B" sides of the Little Willy, Wig Wam Bam, Blockbuster, Hellraiser, Ballroom Blitz, Teenage Rampage & The Sixteens singles.
I bought most of their 7" singles in the 70s and still have them stashed away. They were ahead of their time and the only thing I wish we could change about them is the poor quality of most of their videos. Imagine watching them in fabulouse 4K instead of SD or worse.
I’ve never heard this song before… but WOWWWW. This shows how talented this band was, the different rhythms are crazy and the singing amazing 😍😍😍. Oh how I love The Sweet 🥰🥰🥰
Where are you from? I´m from Finland and a big fan of Sweet. And I was too young, when The Sweet was on top. I heard many songs from the radio, but now, as an adult, I am seeing and listening to The Sweet guys and I´m really falled in love!!!! The Sweet were legends, but we all can see and listen them here in RUclips!!! And yes, I miss the whole band so, so much....Why did I born too late??? I don´t know.....:(
+Päivi Partanen it was good to hear from you. do you know any more bands I might like? you and your family have a wonderful weekend also. chec out my flipboard.
Bondo Mofo, hi! As I have read, there is a newer edition/remaster from 2005 as a CD. "Desolation Boulevard" included additional tracks, like "Burn On The Flame" (B-page of The Six Teens) & "Own Up, Take A Look At Yourself" (B-page of Teenage Rampage). I belive, I saw the CD with overall 18 tracks/songs at Amazon or eBay. You must search a little. Maybe somebody else knows more about that? Good luck!
Ellen R. only song I don't like of sweet is Alexander grahambell it's really cheese and I don't like six tee and I don't like 6 teeance bout I like all sweet other songs and albums
Sally anne, hello, the text of Alexander Grahambell is a bit cheese. If one has heard the song several times, it becomes nice.... I do not like "Funk It Up" and I prefer the flip sides of the "Sweet" singles.
Steve's book ('Are you ready Steve?') is ONLY available from thesweet(dot)com. I reckon Andy will only write his memoirs once he is the last of the four - then there's no one to contradict his version of events. My personal opinion? Andy blamed Brian for the band not rising to the top (where they rightly should have been) and took every opportunity to remind him of this fact. Brian hit the self destruct button!! Andy took over, and booted Brian out . . . Sweet never recovered!!!
June 2024, and I have just bought tickets to see the Sweet here in Brisbane, Australia, in Nov 2024. Andy IS the last remaining member & he has been touring for many years with the line up he has now. OBVIOUSLY It won't be the same without Bryan, Mick & Steve, but I will take a night of LIVE Sweet music, anyway I can get it
Great job with the great song ;) Ain't that crazy what fans have to do to keep memo on the greatest glam rock band of all time!? No one hi-fi concert movie or such ever recorded. They were really screwed by their managers and label companies.
Man they really brought the excitement and action to their rock n roll ,very tight yet loose enough to have that fun style Very underrated ,like this is the first time I heard this particular song and right away I knew I liked it ,then you hear it a second time and it's even better and so on!! That to me is genius writing and performing ,when a song makes you anticipate it and then you wanna turn it in to your friends
Great song this. I would like to hear a cover over it re worked with a 20 second longer intro and the song made more atmospheric by slowing it down a bit and making the guitar licks less "commercial". It is actually a very underrated song this. After hearing it for the first time in about 35 years I am very impressed with this song.
This song shows (like many other b side songs of theirs), that they didn't really need Chapman and Chinn.....after Blockbuster, and Blitz. I think they could have went into 1974 with their own stuff. I know Foxy is their own, and came in '75. I just wonder how long Andy had that being in his pocket? Pretty much every successful band has a lot of songs they hang onto "for the next album", it's just a matter of when to release it. The Sweet knew they had what it took to make it as a group at Poppa Joe for fuck's sake. C&C were also writing songs for other groups so they could show up on T.O.T.P. and, of course, make them more money! Sweet should have said Fuck that shit, and went their own way! Who knows what could have happened?
+PGeorge61 Fox was orginal recorded ON Desolation boulevard in 1974, like a pure rock song, then they recorded it again that became a rediohit. So it was at least wrirtten in 1974.
They did say fuck you. Steve's jacket was pretty clear. Top of the Pops wouldn't allow it, but the show Musikladen had no rules. Andy had one too that said Bullocks.
Well, what I read in Steve Priest's book, (although he doesn't go into any great detail) . . . is that Brian being fond of the booze, and even fonder of the ladies(!) was set upon by a group of men who accused him of trying to steal their girlfriends. Given Brian's beautiful looks - jealousy probably took over. He had his throat stamped on! (thugs heard to say you'll never sing again) his voice range was never the same again - and because of it, the band couldn't support The Who in London -cont
another great b.side had sweet played with the who at Charlton rock in 1974 it would have kick started there world rock carreer sadly didn't happen for them and they never capitolised on it.no uk tours or festivals .they should been a stadium band. in the end manager dave. walker said they were all sick of brian drinking and he left
@soniclady89 What are you talking about? The Sweet were great. They didn´t miss their chance at all. I am now going to quote part of the introduction from "no strings attached" by Phil Moss; "The period between 1974 and 1978 heralded Sweet´s finest hour, in fact for a brief period, in August 1976, Sweet were the highest paid rock act in the world". I don´t think that they could have stayed in the original lineup longer than they did. Brian was fired from the band, due to a heavy alcohol abuse.

Great fun band i loved Sweet when i was a kid but in all honesty I dont think they could ever be ranked alongside Purple and Zeppelin they just were not musically on the same planet as guys like Blackmore,Lord ,Gillanand Paice nor Page ,Plant or Bonham they did have a great singer and drummer in Brian and Mick though but were just not at that level
Showing Heavy Metal bands how to do it ten years before Heavy Metal came of age.
Incredible band. Always have been. Always will be.
I agree with you on that one I will Always be a SWEET fan
Always and forever ❤️🌹
rocking good song, great Brian vocals, drumming and bass!We want SWEET! love you Brian forever.
This is a masterpiece! You can hear how Brians voice was so much more vital here before he had his throat kicked in by some evil morons!
Brian getting attacked was one of the worst days in the history of music. Our world would have been better if that had not happened.
I'm sure if Brian hadn't been attacked sweet would have catapulted into superstardom they hardly got any airplay in the states in my opinion one of the greatest bands ever
I have said that many times.
I don't hear where his voice was really affected, but the beating caused them to cancel the Who date.
At the same times they reached the US charts several times, more than Slade for example..
Greetings from France!
Must be a curse, a spell or something supernatural, could be the demons of Brian.
My sentiments also, I'm discovering most of their music and loving it, only after made aware after Steve's passing in June 2020. Long live Sweet.

Always thought. Mick Tuckers drumming was sadly underrated.
I commented on ELO fab drummer Bev Bevan's page, asking what he thought of Mick. He actually responded today & said Mick was indeed underrated.
They all were underrated 🥺
