@@billsager5634 I don't think you can blame it all on Brian, tbh. The attack (or 'hit' on him as Steve calls it in his biography) must have had an effect on him surely, I think he probably had PTSD, as well as always seeming to be the one on the outside of the guys and Andy's thinly disguised contempt for him must have made things difficult at times. I think that's mainly why he left the band. The problem is always when a band loses such an outstanding and loved frontman, how to carry on? The Stones have survived losing two guitars and a drummer now, but would they have survived losing Mick? Probably not.

A few years ago I had the privilege of having my Listener's Top Ten favourite hit singles played on my local radio station and my choices kicked off with 'Love is Like Oxygen' ( which is Andy's favourite) and it sounded great to hear Sweet being blasted out over the airways ! I also love 'The Sixteens' ( which was Brian's favourite) and so many more. 'Blockbuster' made a massive impression upon me when I was a child and 'Hellraiser' was the first single that I ever bought and I still have it ! 'Little Willy' was a favourite of mine from even earlier. Their hard rock B-sides were also great and one self-written B-side that was a lovely vocals dominated song that I have always loved is 'You're Not Wrong For Loving Me' . All these wankers who keep making comparisons to 10th rate garbage like Poison and Muttley Crue just don’t get it. I hear MUCH more inspiration in those first 3 Cheap Trick albums than I do in any of those 80’s poodlehead bands. Obviously Trick were most heavily influenced by The Move and the Beatles, but in Mr. Zander’s case, I definitely hear more Brian Connolly than anything else.

Mick was one of the few double bass drummers that didn't let the second bass drum get in the way of a swinging tune like 'Ballroom Blitz.' He had a great feel on double bass, played them effortlessly... And those guys knew how to have fun," Carlos said. "We'd call them back on stage during our encores and jam on 'Let It Rock.' Mick would play my kit with the 26" bass drum and just rock out with us. I'd hop up on the riser with him, playing guitar and watching him play. We had some great times together."

Well yeah... if you’re comparing it to 80’s glam metal, but 70’s glam rock was a whole different deal, and the Sweet were one of the “big 4” of that scene (the other 3 being Slade, T.Rex, and Ziggy-era Bowie). They were glam as fuck during the period when this song was recorded and released.

One of the best things bout growin' up in the far north of MN in the '60s and '70s was all we had was the radio, vinyl or casettes we didn't know glam rock from hard rock from... it was ALL ROCK! We got the music not the silly costumes, and Sweet kicked ass right up there with the best! RIP Steve Priest and thank you boys for some really kick-ass songs!

Mick looked like he was really enjoying the moment during their Musicladen appearance. The other performances that they did on this show especially on the song " No you don't " he was smiling as well. He really looked like he was having fun up there performing and the joy was evident. As far as I'm concerned they all really shined in this appearance. THEY threw down & shed the notion & image that they were merely a bubble gum pop band who were Chinn & Chapman puppets.

"Fanny Adams" - это вершина творчества группы,более величественного я от них не слышал...вошла в меня как пиво в песок,в жаркий день! Это был далёкий 1974й год,я ходил в7й класс,слушал "голос америки"-субботний вечер,там Валерий Осмоловский представил эту группу....с тех пор СВИТ - навсегда!Это история,но пока группу помнят,вспоминают и слушают - группа бессмертна!Они сделали историю!!!

The “glam” tag took a real beating from the 80’s-forward, when it was appropriated by all those godawful poodlehead spandex wank-bands... who really had nothing in common with the original 70’s glam rock bands, aside from an extensive make-up collection.
In 1974, ‘glam’ had many different musical facets. Sweet sounded quite different from Slade, and Bowie sounded quite different than T.Rex. Alice Cooper sounded nothing like the New York Dolls. Gary Glitter sounded nothing like the Sensational Alex Harvey Band.
That original glam scene from 1970-1974 influenced so many different genres that came later, including such unlikely ones as punk and speed metal.
