The young folks I see who make positive comments about great music of any era give me hope! Many of them don't like the commercialized crap that today's music industry pushes on them, and they are discovering music from the past to love, sometimes it's music even older than me! Recently, I had a delightful "conversation" with a 15 year old high school student in the comment section on a video of Sarah Vaughan, filmed in Europe in the 1950s. She went into details about Sarah's talent and why she's considered to have one of the best voices ever recorded. That "child" knew what she was talking about, and I told her I'd be so proud to have a granddaughter like her.
Really good rock music. Among the best rock bands, my favorite has always been the early 70's. Thank you very much.👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌻🌻🌻❤❤❤👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌻🌻🌻❤❤❤👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌻🌻🌻❤❤❤
I have never seen anything like this. Whenever something is portrayed as "the 70s", it is just shown as little things. This video is crazy because it shows what it actually was like at that time as opposed to just people wearing bell-bottoms and colorful clothing. This video feels like a time machine. Everyone seems so happy and energetic.
There are lot's of seventies videos on RUclips. Soul Train and American Bandstand videos. And concert videos like Midnight Special and Don Kirchner's Rock Concert. Also late night TV shows like Tomorrow with Tom Snyder and others. Then you also have British shows like Top of the Pops and German shows like this one. Tons of great stuff if you just look for it.
That looks like so much fun. This is one of the pinnacles of rock n' Roll. It's uplifting that individuals in the seventies, when economic turmoil was so low, grey indistinct hardship form every turn and government followed the trend. How this short of music and culture has outlasted our fear, forever. Why do we make our life's so complicated?
@@nigeljohnson4880 Huh? These are young people having fun. I guess you are British. Nobody was thinking about any of that stuff in America. At least young people weren't. Positively was in the air... Best decade for culture and music.
lisalu910 is that really a bad thing though? These kids are enjoying music they would never usually know about because of those movies, you should appreciate that at least
No, its not a bad thing at all. Its good that they are hearing some of the music from the past that has stood the test of time. Its amusing, though, that they have just "discovered" these songs that have been there all along. Maybe they'll realize there's a lot more where this came from!
This song is timeless, it's so original it really doesn't fit any genre so it doesn't fade with the times. Just really far ahead of everything else from the time and just true creative genius.
That's because they didn't have genres back then. Everybody listened to the music. Watch some of the old Woodstock clips. There wasn't any segregation. They all enjoyed it.
Still has the factory cassette player, but I'll make room for it in the console. CB radio already took residence in the storage cubby under the radio!😊😊
Damals auf der Eisbahn gaben die Jungs mit ihrer Musik uns die gute Laune und die Energie um die Wette zu laufen....😍😍😍😍 Danke für die schönen Erinnerungen ❣❣❣
One time a DJ on the radio played this song and then said, "Let's play it again." The other DJ said, "Okay." Then they played it again. It was so great. Loved it so I played it real loud singing to "The Ballroom Blitz" TWICE!
I heard this for the first time when I was in the Navy and the USS Independence, CV-62 made a port call in Portsmouth, England. I was on a double-decker bus somewhere in Portsmouth when I heard this for the first time and the first pub I went to was also playing this. It was a good time to be a young man seeing the world!

I loved the Sweet when I was a kid in the early 70's. They looked and sounded great. Their songs were superb and they always looked like they really enjoyed what they were doing.
The range and dynamics of the vocals in this song is pure genius. And what a hell of a rhythm section, the unified wall of sound they produced from what was essentially a 3 piece band is incredible.
I do LOVE this band! They were "edgy" before edgy was cool, pushin' the envelope. Never have gotten the recognition they deserve, but those of us who are true fans know & appreciate how good they were. I KNOW they got a "barroom blitz" goin' on in "rock 'n' roll heaven"! Save the corner seat for me, guys!
I loved them and still do and always will. I saw them in the 70's in Miami. They were awesome! I will always remember and listen to their music. Rest in peace my friends. 🙏❤️❤️❤️🦋
I love how Brian switches from his head voice in the verses to his chest voice in the chorus. Brilliant versatility you don't see among today's singers.
oh yes indeed He had the perfect voice for that kind of music, the AC-DC music is good, but the singer is just awfully shit, Brian didn't need to forced his voice, he HAD that voice.

A quick reminder to those who consider this band underrated: they sold over 50 million records worldwide. Misunderstood perhaps, but hardly underrated.
If I could have a tenner for every time I have seen that word 'underrated' in a sentence describing singers/bands that were anything but I would already have retired!
Great song 💯 Played this song many times while DJ at a local roller rink. Families loved skating and Friday night dances. Thank you for the great tunes.
Yes, Paul, he was outing the fact they were lip syncing this time around. Then he tossed the cymbals and the drums, as the beat continues, driving that point home. He was having fun with it. He is a great drummer.
Why not? People still listening e.g. Led Zeppelin, Beatles, The Andrew sisters, Mozart, Vivaldi... why not Sweet? I mean just because it's old doesn't mean it's out.
@@jaquelineoreilly294IKR? I'm a chick, but was never blessed with beautiful hair like these heartthrobs of my youth! I just saw a recent pic of Andy Scott, his hair is still long and gorgeous, and pure white now! SWEEEEET!!
I have to admit the twirling of the drumstick was the fastest I have ever seen and accurate. A feel good happy 🎵song. I was only a few years old when this was out.
Mick Tucker was a legit drummer and never really got the recognition he deserved. This isn't even his best "performance" since they were just pantomiming to playback here. But if you get a chance to see him really play, he's badass.
I disagree. They were extremely popular in Great Britain as well as the other European countries. It was the United States where they had little of a following. Glam rock had a hard time on the American circuit back then for many reasons.
It was the first song I heard from the Sweet and at the age of 12 I found it amusing that they were singing about willies, but on the realease of Ballroom Blitz I was hooked as a big fan of Sweet.
You have excellent taste
I have never seen anything like this. Whenever something is portrayed as "the 70s", it is just shown as little things. This video is crazy because it shows what it actually was like at that time as opposed to just people wearing bell-bottoms and colorful clothing. This video feels like a time machine.
Everyone seems so happy and energetic.
Totally agree - it was a fabulous time - everyone naturally moving and not trying to show off dancing like a stripper - genuinely enjoying it.
great days.. the beginning of the end...
I'm here because this is the music I grew up with and it still KICKS ASS!!!
Me too! But we're being overrun with kiddos who just heard it for the first time on some movie and now think they discovered it. LOL
lisalu910 is that really a bad thing though? These kids are enjoying music they would never usually know about because of those movies, you should appreciate that at least
No, its not a bad thing at all. Its good that they are hearing some of the music from the past that has stood the test of time. Its amusing, though, that they have just "discovered" these songs that have been there all along. Maybe they'll realize there's a lot more where this came from!

This song is timeless, it's so original it really doesn't fit any genre so it doesn't fade with the times. Just really far ahead of everything else from the time and just true creative genius.
YES!
That's because they didn't have genres back then. Everybody listened to the music. Watch some of the old Woodstock clips. There wasn't any segregation. They all enjoyed it.
Der beste Song der Sweets. Werde mich immer an meine Jugend erinnern.
I have a 79 Firebird that I am currently making into a time machine. I can't wait to get back to the seventies!

Yes! Followed immediately by "The year 2525" 😁
One time a DJ on the radio played this song and then said, "Let's play it again." The other DJ said, "Okay." Then they played it again. It was so great. Loved it so I played it real loud singing to "The Ballroom Blitz" TWICE!

I heard this for the first time when I was in the Navy and the USS Independence, CV-62 made a port call in Portsmouth, England. The range and dynamics of the vocals in this song is pure genius. And what a hell of a rhythm section, the unified wall of sound they produced from what was essentially a 3 piece band is incredible.

How brilliant were they? Way beyond their time and I loved them.
They need more songs like this. Pure energy ❤❤❤❤

Yep - when Fox on the Run came out you couldn't turn the radio on for more than about 5 minutes without hearing it again in Australia.
If I could have a tenner for every time I have seen that word 'underrated' in a sentence describing singers/bands that were anything but I would already have retired!

I have to agree with many other comments that the Sweet were criminally underrated. Their look was super-cool too.
Drummer was awesome.
Even when he throws his sticks away 3:14 and just starts randomly slapping the skins with his fingers?
Yes, Paul, he was outing the fact they were lip syncing this time around. Then he tossed the cymbals and the drums, as the beat continues, driving that point home. He was having fun with it. He is a great drummer.

SWEET one of the 70's most, not underrated, but, overlooked bands.
I disagree. They were extremely popular in Great Britain as well as the other European countries. It was the United States where they had little of a following. Glam rock had a hard time on the American circuit back then for many reasons.
The musical talent of Sweet is so underrated by the music critics, if in doubt listen to the B sides of their singles. Briliant band!
I kid you but I googled all their B sides during the week and downloaded them yesterday and your bang on... absolutely brilliant 👏 👌
