when i listen to this, i take all the things troubling me and just focus all the energy of it all into the music... and the music sublimates those feelings into goosebumps.
I imagine Bach himself would hand bang to this! This goes a long way to show how incredible baroque truly is, fast forward 500 years and people will be still play Bach!
Understand, I tend to HATE metal guitar covers cuz 90% tend to be cheeky... But you have surprised me, even watched the whole vid... you kept to the same rhythm of the original and the editing was practically flawless... Bravo!! Absolutely wonderful #SaveonPlaylist
Just curious, is bravado considered cheeky? The guitar can produce heart wrenching emotions, but for classical songs such as this would that be considered disrespectful or cheeky? I think it can enhance the emotion but im not sure.
@@tacobender1643 In baroque music, especially in Bach's music, we enjoy harmony and poliphony. Various guitarists play classical pieces with omitting harmony and poliphony, but they increase "metalness" or "power" of the sound instead. In other words they go "chug chug chug" and "whoaaaa, the powerrrrr, the distortion!" they add some power chordsand solos and all the harmony is not heard, or hardly heard in the amount of distortion. It's not bravado, it's cheekiness. It's like with the beautiful painting made with great detail all the artistic people enjoy, but there is someone who is making a copy of it on a wall with spray paint, and instead of copying those great details and balance the colors and details, they go with one powerful color and paint tags and "cool" grafitti letters all over it. But this particular cover from this video does a good job in covering harmony by not adding mentioned cheekiness and too much distortion and leaving the harmony as it supposed to be.
I mean, playing that power chord in the second octave *does* produce that 1st octave C subharmonic, but yeah it's nowhere near as juicy as a pure C1 on a 5 string
Absolutely stunningly fantastically superb experience being able to follow all parts simultaneously- on the organ it meshes together more for the harmonics - thanks for sharing this wonderful interpretation of Bach passacaigla or whatever is this c minor masterpiece is called
Johann Sebastian created one of the greatest contrapuntal masterpiece of the universe... and you made a wonderful masterpiece of rendering. Thank you!!!
I knew it would be "metal" when played with an eletric guitar too. Thanks for sharing your incredible work ! Kudos ! PS: the tempo could do with some variations and accomodations to sport a modern vibe ;)
Work в высшей фазе
Muchas gracias. Thanks for a austanding thema and the iterpretarion of it. Danke für dieses großartige Kunstwerk
Excellent! I am learning this on accordion. It took me 1 year to be at 40%. I wander if you tried clean guitar sound! It seems you loose music behind noise...?
Grosses Kompliment!!
I really like this arrangement. I'm currently working on a guitar version based on a 4 hands piano version i found, and I'mhaving fun figuring out good positioning. Do you have your arrangement notated in any form? Would you be willing to upload/send it?
Hi Cirric, Great work ! ! To make the this play flawless would you please check the SUDDEN decrescendo tempo (probably due to video editing) and the first bass note timing at the beginning of the passage at 06:13 _? Best Wishes...
Hey thanks very much ! So the decrescendo was intention. I heard it in the E. Power Biggs pedal harpsichord version, and it was stuck in my mind :) The sudden change in tempo was a bit tricky to play. Guitar lines were a new take, only bass i played over the decrescendo. So thats the reason for the inaccuracy. Anyway, didn't have the ableton waves anymore... Greeez
This is great, but please allow me to give you a few tips to improve it. 1) You should use slightly different sounds for the different voices, because this is not heavy metal with simple composition, it's counterpoint and the choice of sounds is crutial so the listener doesn't get tired. (I'm just imagining it with different sound effects and I'm like damn... too bad!!!! That would have been even better) 2) Do slow tremolos when you hold a note. 3) you're awesome, don't forget it.
Hey thanks for the comment ! 1) I've recorded with as much as possible overtones to edit later in the mix. Cost me 30, 40 hours to record and video edit this thing, but i was too lazy to invest 2 hours in add some EQ for simulate registers and voice colors :)...think the same as you but not a great fan of reuploads. Perhaps sometime... 2) When you mean vibrato, i tried hard not to do, to prevent overacting. 3)
@@dsCheibli Oh I believe you when you say it took you 40 hours, and a lot more to learn the piece :p Haha yes I can see the effort to not do it, and I understand what you say about overacting but it's a particularity of this instrument (same for violin), vibrato adds so much emotion in my opinion, even if it's just one second.

Always thought this was one of Bach's heaviest riffs.
Bach: ¿What instrument is this?
Guy: It's an electric guitar
Bach: ¿Electric?
I cannot put into words how excellent this was.
Yikes JSB himself :) Thank you !

Will the real JSB please stand up?!?!

Incredible work and amazing performance 🙏 I hope Bach can hear this record from where he is.

The best! I have tears in my eyes
i wish you used 5 string bass for c note at the end of the theme. in a big pipe organ sound like thunder this C. anyway. it's really good cover.

amazing! Bach was about 20 when he wrote this lol

It's baroque music, vibrato is almost forbidden for string instruments in general

Probably not. The organ has reverberation. It has volume.
No, most definetely not. Distortion would be assumed "devilish", while organ representing the voice of Lord.
