Being an owner of a 12 year old raptor you have motivated me to do some touch up painting and minor repairs. This mower has never let me down. You got a nice machine their.
24:49 Those are sealed bearings... At the very least remove the inner seal if you want to grease them. Or remove the grease zerk if you don't intend to grease them... because you left the inner seal on. Quality bearings are worth the money. Cross reference to Timken or SKF... Do not buy from Hustler. If Timken or SKF want $15 a bearing you pay it.
Came across your channel recently. Phenomenal content. Really appreciate how thorough you are with everything. I enjoy learning from you. Keep it up! 👍
There is a very good chance the reason for the failed wheel bearings is greasing them. The bearings you installed are sealed and there is already grease inside. When you add grease to the wheel, you can cause hydraulic pressure on the inner seal and will cause it to rub the cage. I bet this is why they have such a high failure rate. Skip the grease on this one
You might consider adding some zinc to that 20-50. Motor oils do not contain the needed levels that these hydro pumps and wheel motors need. Especially with the store brand oils. Some major brands contain more ZDDP zinc but you have to shop for the ones like Royal Purple HPS.
Thank you for the information. The tag on the mower said to use 20w50 oil and I didn’t really think anything of it just bought what it said to use, next time I’ll use proper stuff.
What ever... Hundreds of thousands of hours with no issues. That includes the thousands of units that are never serviced. API SP rating... That is well and above the manufactures API specification of SL.
Those optional flex forks on the Hustler will save your spine. The atrocious ride of the Scag will break its back and yours. No comparison on ride quality regardless of seat type.
I'm curious where you get these mowers from. Around me people sell blown up/burnt down/rusted through mowers for thousands. Anything worth restoring never even hits the market because someone already snatched it
That mower isn't cheap. I bought one 5 years ago and lost 1 belt due to high grass and me having the deck too low. This mower is better than most riding mowers.
You wasted your time with the bearing:you should have taken the seal on the inside when you installed the bearing, how is the grease going to get on the ball bearing with the grease fitting.Think for a while 😊😮😮😮😮😮😮
Good point, I saw that the bearings are sealed but thought it’s a good thing because dust and dirt will stay out of it but makes sense that the grease won’t be able to get to it.
@@Ace.Fisher Partially correct. You are supposed to leave the outer seal in place to mitigate debris intrusion. But the inner seal should have been removed. You just packed the axle tube with grease for no reason as it can not access the bearings. See what we are saying? No harm, just wasted some grease.

Haha I was just thinking the same thing. Mine is 13 years old with zero issues. Just replaced the original battery last year.
Do some repairs and painting and use it for another 12 years easy 💪😀
Awesome transformation Thank you for eye candy,,the previous owner beat this poor mower up,,im glad u have it now,,u saved the mower from a funeral 😢😂

Love the attention to detail ✔️💯💪🏾

Beautiful job!
How did you come up with the company graphics to make your own decals?
If you sold this unit, what price would you put on it?
Nice job what did you use to make the labels?
Looks nice
Thanks!
Can you tell me the source of the yellow paint you used. It looks perfect.
What size are those rear tires? Look a lot bigger than the tires on my Fastrak

I would have removed the inner seal on the bearings so grease could get into the bearings.

You ever work on a great dane mower?
I'm curious where you get these mowers from. Around me people sell blown up/burnt down/rusted through mowers for thousands. Anything worth restoring never even hits the market because someone already snatched it
Mostly marketplace, it actually takes a lot of time searching and most deals slip away.
On this episode of pimp my mower!
Why the hell would you put grease in those front wheels. They are sealed bearings so no grease can get in to lubricate them.
That mower isn't cheap. I bought one 5 years ago and lost 1 belt due to high grass and me having the deck too low. This mower is better than most riding mowers.
but for case outside your house for stay raining
I call be on a 100 hydro oil change

VERY POOR SOUND QUALITY
Something is wrong with your speakers then lol
You left the inner seal in the bearing it won't get grease in the bearing just on the shaft
Yes good point! but being sealed is a good thing too, the dirt and dust will stay out.
