If you want to be technically correct, _trade paperback_ and _graphic novel_ are talking about different things. _Trade paperback_ refers to format; it's any book (comics or prose) published around that page size. It can contain a graphic novel or a collection of short stories. Corresponding terms are comic book, hardcover, etc. _Graphic novel_ refers to content. It's a long-form comics story, as opposed to a short story. A graphic novel can be published as a trade paperback. A graphic novel can also be published in instalments as single issues, like _Watchmen_ was, for example. (This is no different to the Sherlock Holmes novels that were first published in _The Strand_ magazine.) The key thing is that it was plotted as a self-contained story. Comics written in story arcs are equivalent to a series of novels, like many fantasy novel series. Corresponding terms would be graphic short story or continuous serial.
I know I’m a little behind but really enjoyed your video and knowledge of collecting. I was big into collecting a few years ago but have since stopped. I was going to sell my collection, but you have me second guessing that choice. Thanks for restarting the fire. Have a great day.
I dont really give a shit about buying low/selling high and getting a profit and being a 'smart' collector all that. I just like to read some DC runs and TPB or hardcovers are way easier to do that than buying every individual issue.
DLuXGaming I agree sorta. I actually like reading a single issue and waiting awhile for the next one. It helps with the intensity although a trade doesn't make me forget stuff that happened in the last episode
I do both lol. I tend to buy the floppy issues and then the hardcover or TPB collections. I read the floppies once, and then if I want to re-read them I go to the TPB or hardcovers. With books like Batman, I have issues #400-713, but I don’t read from that collection. I read from TPBs or Hardcovers. For reading I have recently discovered that I really like omnibus collections. They offer huge amounts of material in nice, hardcover books. They often tend to be oversized, with larger pages.
Nice video! I really enjoyed it! A couple thought's (meant in the spirit of helpfulness) Tip 1: I am not sure about the term "floppies" - as an older collector, I just call them "comics". For bags and boards, if you want to be serious about collecting them, try to get mylar bags over the poly bags. They will not discolour like to poly bags. Tip: for modern books, get "SILVER" sized boards for "MODERN" sized bags. It frames the comic and keeps them nice. Also, consider getting comic "drawers" for singles (the slide in and out ones you mention). Small nitpick, a "dust jacket" covers the hardcover, a "slipcase" encases the book as a separate (usually cardboard) unit. Like a box with the edge opened to receive the book. I think this was just a slip of the tongue - you use the terms correctly later on. Mastworks/Archive editions. These deserver special mention as a series of hardcovers in "standard" size, but intended as a series themselves. (as opposed to one-off trades or hardcovers). There are a few publishers that do this besides Marvel and DC - such as Tarzan. There are several "hardcover series" that are in different sizes: EC Reprints, Eerie, Creepy, Vamperella, etc. The page bunches you mention in the binding are called "leafs". Tip 2: Keeping track. Very good advice! I do use something called ComicBase - it's for very "heavy" collections (at least in my case! haha). However, it costs money. Tip 3: I agree. I still try to support my local comic shop though. Just because. However, you are 100% correct. I am a comic collector though - so I get my weekly books at there. I'm also starting to get more via mail-order. It's hard to resist 40% off. Comic shops do trade though - so you can get rid of books you no longer want. Good idea to check for defects! I've been thinking about getting some library plastic coverings for my books - this would protect the dust jacket. Haven't decided yet. Good for you on showing how to open a book! It seems strange - but it is critical to the health of the book. People need to open the books to get the binding working - so it doesn't "break" because it has never been opened. I've seen very old books that snap in half because they weren't properly opened. Nice video - I hope my comments don't come across as critical - I meant them just as more information/ideas/opinion. Thanks!
Yeah, it's funny because single issues and masterworks/archives are definitely what I collect the least of so that stuff must have slipped my mind. I am familiar with the different bag/board sizes, should have mentioned it! And I think I've only bought one masterwork and sold it after... Forgot that line is big to so many people. The dust jacket/slipcase must have been a mistake cause I most certainly know the difference between those two!
+Frank Bergdoll I agree with Frank 100%. I'm an older collector myself. Especially with calling comics "floppy". Atomic Age, Golden Age, Silver Age and Bronze never floppy. I like your video's. Keep up the good work.
Man, a lot of really good information in here! Subscribed. As far as used bookstores go, I recently found a local one that does 30% off all cover prices on trades/hardcover/everything. I find myself getting even better deals than I can find online this way.
This was super helpful. I started seriously collecting about 2 years ago and my library has grown a lot since then. But the 'buying' was always tricky for me. Mostly cos for the past few years I lived in a small college town so I had to drive into the city to find shops with really big selections. I can't believe It's February 2019 and I just found out about instock trades. I already racked up a tab there but it's all at WAY less than I would have spent paying top dollar.
Nice video. I haven't been into collecting comics for the past 20 years during which most of this "omnibus" stuff started getting super popular. I'm one of the suckers buying singles and putting out MSRP for the occasional omnibus. I also wasn't familiar with the terminology, leading to confusion as you pointed out, so this is really good info for me. Thanks!
I've only started collecting in the past few months and this video has honestly helped me out so much on what to do in the future, thanks and great video!
I had no idea that i was part of a niche collector culture until this year. I thought I was the weird one waiting for and collecting omnibi instead of trades.
Very informative video, in a good and easy to understand way. Also love how genuine and enthusiastic you are when you talk. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
If you're fortunate enough, sometimes you can find collected editions that are out of print in comic shops. It takes searching, but sometimes you can come across a copy tucked away on the shelf somewhere. It's fun to go hunting for things like that - or even coming across it randomly!
Loved this vid. I'm just getting started in the more serious collector mode and this really helped me out. Subscribed and looking forward to watching everything you put out.
Great video! I wish I would have had something like this two years ago when I started collecting. You pretty much covered everything. Good job and keep up the work.
same, just started 1-2 months ago but i started with new 52 since that runs further into the rebirth. wich ones you like? the same as the movies u like or.....?? i got batman court of owls and like it :) also want to start with flash cause i realy like the flash tv show. arrow show also but i dont think i would like to read about an archer.... for the rest i kinda don't know what i would like, so much choice :p
yea i hear thath alot about the new 52 batman run being AMAZING, its by scot snyder who now is doing the all-star batman so you're probably right that that one is the best batman from rebirth. thats why im gonna collect that new 52 run first before starting rebirth batman or all-star batman. im waiting to get into rebirth till i read some more new 52 stuff, its easier buying it in TB then single issues and the story from new 52 ( well most of it anyway) carries over into rebirth so... also being from europe and not america its very hard to find a comic book store here with, let alone single issues. so its mostly amazon for me. green arrow thath good? i heard the rebirth one's were some of the best rebirth comics but i can't see myself liking a comic about an archer(altough i like the tv show) but maybe ill give that one a try but only the rebirth one cause i read that new52 one sucks.. ive seen a preview of it and agreed the art looks GREAT been thinking about getting red hood and suicide squad since i realy love a good anti-hero :) the end justifies the means that kinda thing, not afraid to kill when nesccesary. wich one would u recommend to most out of those 2? i'm leaning more towards red hood since its bat family but maybe i should broaden my tastes a bit..? anyway THX ALOT for the info mate!! cause you're right its realy overwhelming getting started and finding out what u like and then there's the continuity..... pfff atleast with DC ist doable, if u start in new 52 u should have NO problem following but with marvel.... just orderd the mini series deadpool back in black, only 5 single issues.
i'll definitly check out all star batman after i finish the new 52 run since you give it such high praise and also its from the same writer as the new 52 batman run and people say thats the most consistently good batman run ever so... THX ALOT for that site mate! its cheaper then amazon and only takes 4 days to ship to my country for free :) you never had any troubles with them?? good packaging?? otherwise im gonna try and order my next one there. yep arrow show went to hell after season 2! i do recommend watching the first 2 if you are a fan. the flash show is alot better ( depends what u like though) realy funny show with great characters and plot twists. try not to look up stuff about season 1 or u will be spoiled for sure. lol , that godawfull movie :D sadly enough i cant agree more with u about that one. i like it even less then thor 1, wich is my least favorite comic movie of all time, or was untill SS came along :p wich SS and red hood have u been reading? cause both of them get their first rebirth TB in march and since u said u also don't buy single's.... just to know wich one's youre talking about so i know wich one's to maybe buy, new 52 or rebirth. yep marvel is a big mess if you havent been following them for years now, they could do with a new 52 hard reboot. that's why i orderd the deadpool back in black mini series. its only 5 issues and not in the continuity. and also i loved that movie, my kind of dark humor :) so i thought it would be great as a first marvel purchase. and deadpool getting the venom symbiote could be realy brutal/funny. i guess that's the kind of anti hero im looking to find in redhood or SS. doesnt have to be exactly the same offcourse what did u think about that mercs with a mouth series? been looking a that as well to buy. just trying to find the deadpool wich is closest to the movie.
sorry couldn't get this on my first reply, it was to long already but i wanted to show you this. i think you will like it. the art is WOW and story is stand alone so no marvel continuity hassle. its in my top 5 of marvel books to start with. im just gonna copy/past it below here here this is a one off book from marvel wich is great everybody tells me and the art looks AMAZING, just have a look inside the book on the site. ive been thinking about getting this as my first marvel since its a closed story also : www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0785142282/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2NQSMTN0N3YY4&coliid=I15FV5LEEYNLHJ
NIce tips. I'm just starting to collect manga recently, especially those hard to find old classic manga. One of the sites I use is rightstuf, buzyera, and bookdepository for out of print titles.
This video has single handedly gotten me back into checking out new books like crazy lately! I favorited instocktrades.com and have purchased a few books from there already! Thank you so much for the suggestions and tips. You're saving me lots of money! Since then I've checked out your other stuff on your channel and I really enjoy it. Thanks for the content and keep on doing what you're doing! You've shown me the light on HC collecting and I look forward to your next video!
+Nerdventures, A tip I recommend for you or the" need it now comic enthusiast" is to have a twitter account setup on a website called tweetdeck.twitter.com/ and customise a column specifically for your needs. For example you can add @CBR / @bgndotco / @InStockTrades / @stashmycomics or even comic artists like @JimLee That way you get super fast updates on what you want because it's your custom comic news feed. Once again this tip is only for the consumer that is news hungry for all the buzz or surfing the web 24/7 on comic book deals. Also if your not much of a reader but wish someone would actually talk about them then add @OfficialTCBS or @comicsexplained to your Twitter column. Great video by the way I subscribed.
Nice video, there are some terms even for a more advanced collectors that may not be familiar with and with ratio variants that is something important to know when you're collecting variants, and i havent heard floppies for single issues in my life hahaja
Cool information. It helps me a lot. I would like to see videos of what you recomend in for example terror/horror, in fantasy or in science fiction comics. Or top 10. Kisses from Argentina
I just buy all of mine off Ebay, like my normal books I'm not bothered about getting them straight away and spend loads of money. Also, what's fun about Ebay is that I've randomly bought trade paperbacks and graphic novels that I don't really know much about, and they have been great! I got the first volume of Chew for £2 and I loved it!
I bought come new Locke & Key collection with all 6 books together. It was still in the plastic and brand new. And as I went to read the comic the pages fell out because the binding was bad. I googled it and apparently a lot of other people had the same problem. I had like 90 pages fall out just trying to read the first two books. Which is upsetting because I paid $100 for it at Books a Million.
leagueofcomicgeeks is great to keep track of comics you own, read and pulls new issues for the on-going ones and sends you email notifications to remind you plus the interface is super sleek, all other sites with similar features look very outdated and are horrible to navigate through
Great tips, though for Europeans it's way harder to be comic book collectors. For instance, there's no comic book stores in my country, of course, I can order books from UK, but shipping is often pricey ( and the books themselves are more expensive in Europe than in USA) and they don't ship hardcovers (which I love) at all, because most of them are too heavy.
+Adele B. no They are expensive in the US. I have no problem collecting comics and i am in europe. I jave 20 short boxes of Marvel and other companies, plus hardcovers/trades/essentials.
Where are you (guys) from? It is different per country. In the Netherlands there are some stores in the big cities which sells all kind of comics (European, American and some Japanese manga). I think it's pretty much the same for countries like Belgium and Germany. So what's it like in your country?
i don't like the omnibus format cause its too big and heavy and difficult to read comfortably[ the term floppies is terrible. i like just single issues or regular comics.
Have you noticed the cardboard strip that's glued to the binding fabric within the tube of the spine coming unglued on any of your omnibi? I'm having this happen with a couple of mine and wondering how big an issue it is. Great video by the way!
I started to read comics and regularly buy TPBs of series I follow (mostly newer stuff like ongoing Image and DC series). I dont like single issues, so I thought TPBs make the most sense, since I'm not really collecting stuff. I just buy them to read them (I like to keep them, though ;)). Is there a huge potential to wait for complete editions to save money? What about finished series? Are complete paperbacks the way to go with little money at hand?
I think I've just decided I'd like to collect omnibus's. Just seems like an easier way of getting all the stories I want, but would I be getting exactly the same stuff as buying the graphic novels/trade paperbacks? Would anything be missing?. Also, I know I'm boring for this lol, but I'm only really interested in buying stuff based on movies etc, so for example the MCU. As a new collector I feel like there is just too much stuff out there to try collecting all kinds of things so need to limit myself.
Hi, great video! I read a lot of IDW comics. Do you know what their formats are and how they go about releasing singles, trades, omnibus, hc etc? Thanks, Jo
Greetings, I live in a country with high humidity, so my novel collections always turn yellow and get yellow spots, darn! For my comic collection, they are always well protected, acid-free boards and such, but I've found recently that even the Omnibus collections and various tradepaperbacks, even with their high quality paper, are starting to show spots and turn yellow. I can't vacuum seal everything, that will defeat the purpose of occasionally pulling a favourite comic out to read. Any suggestions on how to keep these?
Hi there. I've seen some forums discussing how to store the omnibus books. I've seen a lot of people suggesting to stack them horizontally (on top of each other) to prevent damage to the spines over time. Apparently gravity takes it's toll on the pages since they don't have support between them and the bottom of the hard cover (when stored vertically). As far as storing them vertically, like you have them, I've seen people suggesting to use little stacks of 3M Post-It Notes at the bottom of the pages to give them support. Seeing how my omnibus collection is growing I was wondering what you think about these ideas and maybe you would find this information helpful. Have you found any wear and tear from storing the books vertically? Thanks for the video!
You know for myself I just don't care enough to bother with that level of care and upkeep. I know some people like to use clear protective dustjacket covers for storage and I've also heard of cutting small pieces of styrofoam to fit under the page block on the shelf. I personally haven't noticed any damage from vertical storage but with bigger books like sin city or colossal conan I'd assume it's possible. Let me know what you decide!
Having followed this for much longer than I have, I wonder what you think the chances are that DC will release a Harley Quinn Omnibus Vol. 4 that collects Issues #35-75? I figure #75 was only released this past August, so there might be hope. I posted a request for one on the DC Universe Collections Request forum thread, but I wonder if they even read those... What do you think?
your the shit.thank you sooo much, this is by far the most helpful video about these topics on RUclips. I only buy trade paperback and hard covers but will be buying those fat ass books soon.thanks again.
What's the best mystery subscription box for trade comics and graphic novels? Most of the comic of the month type subscriptions seem to only offer single issues.
My only complaint about omni are they get damaged easy & some of them, the binding sucks & barely creates an eye. How do you comfortably read your omnibus?
Yay! I finally understand what the heck an absolute is :D Quick question, are the marvel omnibus' behind you worth it? Is it a pain to read since they're so thick?
i started collecting some comics.. mostly Fables Deluxe and some others.. but often i got rid of the sheets/covers and preferd the hard body.. are my copies worth Drastically Less ?
Does anyone know where I can find graphic novels and trades that are usually paperback, in hardcover? I live in Keller Texas and not even Amazon has very many and I don't want paperback because they look shitty in the bookcase
Hey man! I got a couple of questions regarding the Absolutes. How good is the binding on those books? Given the fact that they have the glued binding, do they stand the test of time? Absolutely love your collection and your channel. :)
+SBR ComicBookReviews Actually the absolutes are sewn binding and much better than the usual DC fare. Most people don't love the DC omnibus line because the binding is either glued or a very tight sewn binding that doesn't open well. Absolutes are awesome and really well put together, just very pricey. So far all of mine have held up really well, the pages are easy to read, and the only think you have to worry about is the physical size of the book which can be a little uncomfortable to read depending on how you normally like to read your books. If you can stomach the cost it's definitely my preferred way to collect the stories.
+Nerdventures Thanks man! I was told they had glued binding. Resisted buying the Long Halloween Absolute, even when it was going for dirt cheap prices, just because I was skeptical about the binding. Should have pulled the trigger. But, never mind.. Another opportunity (read: online sale) shall present itself. :)
I don't really collect, I just buy them for the story, but I do keep them, and I really prefer short boxes. They're not as heavy, and fit easily into places.
im new to collecting. My problem is that I actually love to read a lot of these stories, obviously. So I end up ordering multiple book from different runs, instead of just getting a whole run. Which makes it difficult. :(
I'm new into collecting comics, and I would really want hardcover versions of it, but would that guarantee me a continuous release? Like Spider-Gwen, which I'm into, they have 2 TPB currently released and would have a 1st volume hardcover by February next year, so does that guarantee me to have a 2nd volume hardcover of it afterwards (since it did say Volume 1)? Or would I rather just collect the TPB? Great video btw!
RJ Gonzaga there's no guarantee when it comes to hardcover. Stuff is either confirmed or you have to go the trade route or play a waiting game for a possible HC. If a couple of years go by and no omnibus is released then it's highly unlikely that you'll be getting whatever follow up hardcover you are waiting for.
Hi mate 😊 First of great video, and although I can't start collecting seriously at this stage in my life ( schools are too damn expensive 😋 ), I really enjoyed it. Actually I picked up my first omnibus ( Remender's Uncanny Avengers ) a couple days ago, and I'm really liking it, although now I gotta go pick up the out of print Uncanny X-force as well ( damn XD ). Anyways, now to the actual question. I didn't quite get what you said about trim sizes. Is it the size of the actual cover of the book, or the size of the whole page, or just part of the page? I'm a little confused as to what this term actually means, please help me 😐

I'm the worst at this ..I buy them at top dollar and then when I need money sell dirt cheep.
So my tip is do not buy if you can't afford it
Certainly no Gordon Gecko are you?
I feel your pain...... i collect Toppi........ good luck......
Hit me up if you got cheap comics :D
Very informative video, in a good and easy to understand way. Also love how genuine and enthusiastic you are when you talk. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
Dude this was an incredible video. I never knew that about the spine stretching so I'm excited to do that with new books now. lol
Love your videos man, someone who's getting back into comics, your channels ace keep going with it.
Great video!! the spine thing is something highly important to know
I have never heard of a single issue called a "floppy." Weird... I've been collecting well-over 30 years.
If you're fortunate enough, sometimes you can find collected editions that are out of print in comic shops. It takes searching, but sometimes you can come across a copy tucked away on the shelf somewhere. It's fun to go hunting for things like that - or even coming across it randomly!
Cheers from 2020. This really helped me clarify all things involved in collecting, thank you.
I use old milk crates for my book shelves. They work great.Oh and dollar stores are great place to find trades that are out of print for cheap,
Such a great vid, i know this is older and im late but im new to collecting now and this answered so many questions i wondered in my head. Thank you
Loved this vid. I'm just getting started in the more serious collector mode and this really helped me out. Subscribed and looking forward to watching everything you put out.
Greetings from The Omnibus Collectors community.
Great video. Don't think there could have been a more informative video on this topic.
Great video! I wish I would have had something like this two years ago when I started collecting. You pretty much covered everything. Good job and keep up the work.
always was into conic book movies so i got into the comic books and this video really helped me. thanks .
same, just started 1-2 months ago but i started with new 52 since that runs further into the rebirth.
wich ones you like? the same as the movies u like or.....??
i got batman court of owls and like it :) also want to start with flash cause i realy like the flash tv show.
arrow show also but i dont think i would like to read about an archer.... for the rest i kinda don't know what i would like, so much choice :p
yea i hear thath alot about the new 52 batman run being AMAZING, its by scot snyder who now is doing the all-star batman so you're probably right that that one is the best batman from rebirth. thats why im gonna collect that new 52 run first before starting rebirth batman or all-star batman.
im waiting to get into rebirth till i read some more new 52 stuff, its easier buying it in TB then single issues and the story from new 52 ( well most of it anyway) carries over into rebirth so...
also being from europe and not america its very hard to find a comic book store here with, let alone single issues. so its mostly amazon for me.
green arrow thath good? i heard the rebirth one's were some of the best rebirth comics but i can't see myself liking a comic about an archer(altough i like the tv show) but maybe ill give that one a try but only the rebirth one cause i read that new52 one sucks.. ive seen a preview of it and agreed the art looks GREAT
been thinking about getting red hood and suicide squad since i realy love a good anti-hero :) the end justifies the means that kinda thing, not afraid to kill when nesccesary. wich one would u recommend to most out of those 2? i'm leaning more towards red hood since its bat family but maybe i should broaden my tastes a bit..?
anyway THX ALOT for the info mate!! cause you're right its realy overwhelming getting started and finding out what u like and then there's the continuity..... pfff atleast with DC ist doable, if u start in new 52 u should have NO problem following but with marvel....
just orderd the mini series deadpool back in black, only 5 single issues.
i'll definitly check out all star batman after i finish the new 52 run since you give it such high praise and also its from the same writer as the new 52 batman run and people say thats the most consistently good batman run ever so...
THX ALOT for that site mate! its cheaper then amazon and only takes 4 days to ship to my country for free :)
you never had any troubles with them?? good packaging?? otherwise im gonna try and order my next one there.
yep arrow show went to hell after season 2! i do recommend watching the first 2 if you are a fan.
the flash show is alot better ( depends what u like though) realy funny show with great characters and plot twists. try not to look up stuff about season 1 or u will be spoiled for sure.
lol , that godawfull movie :D sadly enough i cant agree more with u about that one. i like it even less then thor 1, wich is my least favorite comic movie of all time, or was untill SS came along :p
wich SS and red hood have u been reading? cause both of them get their first rebirth TB in march and since u said u also don't buy single's.... just to know wich one's youre talking about so i know wich one's to maybe buy, new 52 or rebirth.
yep marvel is a big mess if you havent been following them for years now, they could do with a new 52 hard reboot.
that's why i orderd the deadpool back in black mini series. its only 5 issues and not in the continuity. and also i loved that movie, my kind of dark humor :) so i thought it would be great as a first marvel purchase. and deadpool getting the venom symbiote could be realy brutal/funny. i guess that's the kind of anti hero im looking to find in redhood or SS. doesnt have to be exactly the same offcourse
what did u think about that mercs with a mouth series? been looking a that as well to buy. just trying to find the deadpool wich is closest to the movie.
sorry couldn't get this on my first reply, it was to long already but i wanted to show you this. i think you will like it. the art is WOW and story is stand alone so no marvel continuity hassle. its in my top 5 of marvel books to start with. im just gonna copy/past it below here
here this is a one off book from marvel wich is great everybody tells me and the art looks AMAZING, just have a look inside the book on the site. ive been thinking about getting this as my first marvel since its a closed story also : www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0785142282/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2NQSMTN0N3YY4&coliid=I15FV5LEEYNLHJ
This tutorial was fantastic!!! Thanks!
NIce tips. I'm just starting to collect manga recently, especially those hard to find old classic manga. One of the sites I use is rightstuf, buzyera, and bookdepository for out of print titles.
Hey man, where are you? Your videos are great, and this one in particular is enlightening! I wish I had seen it looong ago already
I recently just found your videos. Very helpful, keep your videos coming! I'm a huge fan now!
Hi, I have to say that I fully enjoy this video, the way that you explain the points is excellent, and I really love this video.
Really informative, thanks a lot. Wish I'd found this video when I started.
Thanks, man. Just caught your top 5 tips video. Enjoyable, well presented, interesting and informative. Keep on collecting, dude!
Thank you for posting this vid i found it helpful and its great for someone just starting to collect.
Great video! I'm new to comics and collecting, so I learned a lot!
I love the video, man! I've been into comics for almost 6 years and I've never been really familiar with the formats. Thanks for the help!
Awesome tip, very good way to keep up with the comics world!
Nice video, there are some terms even for a more advanced collectors that may not be familiar with and with ratio variants that is something important to know when you're collecting variants, and i havent heard floppies for single issues in my life hahaja
I'm thinking of getting into collecting, I would just like to thank you for making this video.
+hillbo12345 Nice! I hope the collecting goes well, keep me in the loop :)
this was so helpful, thank you so much. Enjoyed this very much
Cool information. It helps me a lot. I would like to see videos of what you recomend in for example terror/horror, in fantasy or in science fiction comics. Or top 10.
Kisses from Argentina
I'm glad you open the comic book properly you just can't open it aggressively or it will damage I open my comics a certain way
So glad I came across this video.. thank you for all this great information. Really helped me out
I wish we had something like Instock in Czech Republic, have to buy for cover prices =(
Jojo to by se hodilo
Im a new collector. This video is very informative. Thanks
+Carrie-Anne P Yeah that's pretty solid idea, most paperback stuff does end up cheaper on eBay
Just started collecting comicbooks this really helped thanks a lot
Thank you! This video is really helpful :)
Great video! I'm just getting into Harley Quinn comics right now.
This video helped me A TON! You're the man!
great video, I'm just starting to collect hardcovers
Really enjoying your videos so far, very informative!
Subscribed! :)
I bought come new Locke & Key collection with all 6 books together. It was still in the plastic and brand new. And as I went to read the comic the pages fell out because the binding was bad. I googled it and apparently a lot of other people had the same problem. I had like 90 pages fall out just trying to read the first two books. Which is upsetting because I paid $100 for it at Books a Million.
leagueofcomicgeeks is great to keep track of comics you own, read and pulls new issues for the on-going ones and sends you email notifications to remind you plus the interface is super sleek, all other sites with similar features look very outdated and are horrible to navigate through
Great video! Will share this to all the newcomers
So what's it like in your country?
try cheap-comics(dot)com - incredible offers (pretty much like an european instocktrades); some stuff's really worth it!
You mean the socialist Islamic eutopia of Europestan? Figures you can't even get hardcover graphic novels
i don't like the omnibus format cause its too big and heavy and difficult to read comfortably[
the term floppies is terrible. i like just single issues or regular comics.
Thank you so much this helped me tremendously
Looks like you have a great collection of trades, omnis, and epic collections.
+The Man From Krypton I'm moving more into epic collections and trades right now, I'll have to do an updated collection tour at some point
+Nerdventures, I've got 30 short boxes and for some reason I'd rather collect floppies than trades, even though trades give more story for the dollar.
Can't wait to see more vid keep up the great quality in the vids
Kamui! Cannot believe you held that up! 💜
Have you noticed the cardboard strip that's glued to the binding fabric within the tube of the spine coming unglued on any of your omnibi? I'm having this happen with a couple of mine and wondering how big an issue it is. Great video by the way!
Comics are so fun to look at and to read.
Are complete paperbacks the way to go with little money at hand?
you sir are the best. i envy your collection..but thank you for this video
hahahahahhaa
Thx for the info especially the links in the description
Wow I am so jealous of your bookshelf. Very good information for the novice. I just sub.
Thank you so much for this, you just gained a new sub
very informative and well explained. thx alot dude. oh and subbed ^^
Really informative vid bro. Thanks
Hi, great video! I read a lot of IDW comics. Do you know what their formats are and how they go about releasing singles, trades, omnibus, hc etc? Thanks, Jo
Great video and where are you? You have not uploading video for a long time
Very informative and nice collection!
Let me know what you decide!
yup comic shops are good for hunting out of print books or key single issues anything else I buy online
really enjoyed the video, thank you for all the tips
Very informative video! Thanks for posting!
Dude this helped so much....great video idea
Having followed this for much longer than I have, I wonder what you think the chances are that DC will release a Harley Quinn Omnibus Vol. 4 that collects Issues #35-75? I figure #75 was only released this past August, so there might be hope. I posted a request for one on the DC Universe Collections Request forum thread, but I wonder if they even read those... What do you think?
Your collection is so beautiful
your the shit.thank you sooo much, this is by far the most helpful video about these topics on RUclips.
Great video!!! Looking forward to more :)
Does anyone know where I can find graphic novels and trades that are usually paperback, in hardcover? I live in Keller Texas and not even Amazon has very many and I don't want paperback because they look shitty in the bookcase
i subscribed and i really dug this video. i know 75% of the topics but still cool, thanks
If a couple of years go by and no omnibus is released then it's highly unlikely that you'll be getting whatever follow up hardcover you are waiting for.
bought the before watchmen volumes, and the last pages are kinda wrinkled, but not folded, kinda like water damage. any tips?
hi what shelving do you use for the graphic novels and what shop you bought them in please
Hi mate 😊
First of great video, and although I can't start collecting seriously at this stage in my life ( schools are too damn expensive 😋 ), I really enjoyed it.
I'm a little confused as to what this term actually means, please help me 😐
This is so weird but for some series I can ONLY read them in trades (i.e swamp thing 😂).
