Love the idea behind this video. Blankets is a memoir graphic novel about the author's teenage years and the important relationships in his life, namely with his first love, God, and his family. Highly recommend

So as a newbie whats the difference between a graphic novel and a omnibus ?
Omnibus editions are the bloody huge ones that usually collect a long run of a strip. A graphic novel… Well, that depends. In old money, it was a standalone comic tale in book format. These days, it’s usually used to mean pretty much any standard collected edition. YMMV.
I hope your heads feeling better and I would enjoy finding out what your top 100 books are.
I have read 21 of these and own 18 the only one that I own but haven't yet read is sandman.
I haven't read many entire manga series myself, but Akira is totally awesome. I recommend you check it out, since you technically already own it.

My definition of graphic novel is a collected mini- or maxi- series or a big one-shot.
Have not read or heard of some of the artsy stuff. Preacher is trash. East of West is overrated and boring. Decent art. Saga is shock value crap. Chew is good but did not have a good end. Morrison Batman is eh. Sold them. Not a fan of Morrison. Y the Lant Man and Kingdom Come I read. Liked them. Walking Dead started out good then fell off. Zzzz Long Halloween I really enjoyed Tokyo Ghost is 🗑️👎🤮 Bendis Daredevil is good. Read Miller.and read some of Waid. Sandman is a dense book and heard of Hellboy. Not a fan. Do not read Manga but have watched tAkira, One Piece and Berserk. Berserk first arc is good but other stuff is 🤮🗑️. Read a a few comic strips. The X-Men and Spider-Man stuff. Read about 40. Heard of a most of them and others no interest or never heard of. Kill or be killed is decent. Of course own Watchmen

Late comment. Cant you just no see that there's much more besides omnibus, DC, darkhorse, and Marvel? Maybe there's a whole universe of graphic novels that actually ends and we don't need another volume or arc. What we might need is just a different story from the same author cause the talent is what we love.
You should definitely read Vagabond (on hiatus) and Goodnight Punpun. I heard good things from the Akira manga as well but I've only seen the movie and I wasn't the biggest fan.

Damn - no X-Men God Loves Man Kills, no Batman Killing Joke or Hush, No Weapon X and no Descender/Ascender? But the great thing is - there's so much choice out there!
Berserk is the best manga in the history!
I’m disappointed Watcham is always so high. I feel including it in a top ten encourages people to read it first, before trying anything else. I find Watchman works best if you have some comics knowledge going in.
It's quite incredible to me as a newbie that so many of these comic book reviewers have read almost NONE of the fucking books!! I mean... wtf?! LOOK. AT. YOUR. SHELVES!
Surprises me more how many people moan about it like it affects their collection in any way 😂😂😂 Let people spend their money how they want to, its really not worth being angry about :)

I love my omnibus, its nice having them collected, but i always find them really unwieldy to read. I read them virtually, and have the collection of the shelf. Little disappointed Green lantern isn't anywhere in here, its my favourite comic hero.

As for comics I think should’ve made the list - the sixth gun (my all time favorite) the goon and judge dredd. Tbh I’m super surprised dredd wasn’t on here somewhere

Finally someone that shares my opinion on east of west, i traded my hardcovers in and put the money towards Xmen, Love the video keep it up!

Of the eight that I've read, I own four (Batman: Year One, Sin City, DC: The New Frontier, The Walking Dead). The one that I would put on the list the most (and surprised it didn't make it) is "Superman For All Seasons." Others I would include are "Iron Man: Extremis," "Daredevil: Yellow," "Batman: Fortress," "Batman - One Bad Day: Catwoman," and "Batman - One Bad Day: Ra's al Ghul."
Okay, "Peanuts" I own but haven't read all the way through. "The New Frontier", "The Dark Knight Returns" and "Daredevil: The Man Without Fear" I own and read. And finally, "Kingdom Come", "The Long Halloween", "Batman Year One" and "Watchmen" I read at the library.
Wtf man, haven't you read Persepolis or Cerebus? If it doesn't have a cape and cowl, you don't know about it, by what it looks like

I have aphantasia, meaning I can’t picture things, but I didn’t find out that that wasn’t normal until recently. Due to it though, I never enjoyed reading standard books. They always lost me in the action, and while I could appreciate descriptive writing, I never understood why people would say it was so good that they could even feel like they were watching a movie in their head. A bit after realizing this, I unrelatedly picked up East of West, and that changed my outlook. Having quality writing tied to pictures made everything make sense. EoW really got me into comics, and so while I can acknowledge my nostalgia goggles, I’d really like to believe that 26 is too low for it.
All star Superman in the fifties? I understand this is your taste in books but this is ridiculous. Manga should have it's own separate list as well. I read Blankets and it's depressing trash.

Get yourself the HC of Upgrade Soul. Don’t look into anything about it. Just buy it and read it. I very much doubt you’ll regret doing so.
25 read. 26 own (in print - would be quite a bit more with digital). Oddly, the read/owned don’t overlap that fully for me. (I was also strict: even though I own the entire Peanuts run in HC, say, I don’t own that Sundays collection.)

Read "From Hell" recently in the colored edition (I've compared it with the original black-and-white and I really can't see many people preferring the original) and it's probably my favourite graphic novel/comic whatever.

Hello good sir I’m on a hunt for a graphic novel
But I’m looking for a graphic novel about an Alien named Max (I think) who crashes in a female farmers back yard and he has swirls on his fingers. He looks like a tall human in a black suit and has black eyes with shaggy hair.
Anyway other alien races find out he’s on earth and all start flocking to it to find Max and yeah if you could help I’d greatly appreciate it

How vagabond is so low is a disgrace. Vagabond is a better story than almost every comic I’ve read. It’s literally one of the greatest stories I’ve read. Almost every American comic I’ve read isn’t half the story vagabond is.
