All of your stuff is really interesting. I like volumes better than single issues. It seems more cost effective and volumes can be found in most book stores whereas single issues are only found at comic book stores.
The most interesting comic books to me were the Daredevil ones. I love Daredevil.
Your video was great. Thank you for posting!
Great collection! i just turned 46 and just now got into comics, not the superhero ones but ones like The Boys,Y the last man,Transmetropiltan.. I love the Boys and Y The last man so far, been reading online and I'm up to issue 5 of The Boysmand 3 of Y the last man, read first 2 of Transmet but haven't really got into it yet,but really cannot stop reading the Boys,Y and the walking dead(up to issue 29)
Really nice video. You have more omnibus then I do but that's probably because you don't buy single issues. I think I'll have to buy that Stray Bullets book because everyone keeps saying how awesome it is.
Nerdventurer, you and I are kindred spirits in our taste for comics. I've got to say I have about 75-80% of your collection, though I have some in different formats e.g. I have the original hardcovers for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and Year One. I got really lucky at my local Half-Price Books a few times. Those Incal coffee editions are amazing, but they would just kill my funding, they're almost 10 times the price of the regular hardcover--retail. Anyway, very impressive collection. I REALLY want that Arzach bust. I do think that the Manara Libraries would make a great addition to your collection and might find a good home. Thanks for sharing.
Chris Foss is the artist on the Dune poster who did the spaceships. If you like good sci-fi art you should try tracking down his "Diary of a Spaceperson" book. Also the Terran Trade Authority books published by Hamlyn in the early 80's are worth a look if you can find them at a decent price.
I kinda do the same thing.. I have SOOOO much trade paper backs and hardcovers of comic series and I've only read like maybe half of them .. I got kinda obsessive with this a few years ago like for instance I'll decide I want all of Warren Ellis' books and keep my eyes open for used copies...etc an buy like all them over a few months then move onto something else ... its all good though cause now I have basically all of writers books I have most of Alan Moore books, Grant Morrisons, Neil Gaiman and a bunch others plus now I have reading material for a long time haha.
I gotta say best collection ive seen on youtube, and im a youtube fanatic/comicnfreak! really awesome taste!
Great collection man. Not a lot of overlap between us either. Impressive.
For what it's worth, the binding on the Invisibles Omnibus is very tight as well and it's a glued-binding. That Godzilla: the Half-Century War is amazing. Not even a huge Godzilla fan, but that book just rules, James Stokoe killed it on that.
+keithofthedead James Stokoe always kills it! Good to know, I wasn't really planning on switching it out but that is a bit disappointing that the binding isn't nicer...
Yeah, thankfully DC is getting better at it. The Geoff Johns GL Omnibuses have a very nice binding.
Oh man your collection is crazy awesome! You just inspired me continue my hardcover and TPB collection. I definitely want to get the Absolute X-Men Claremont and Lee ones.
+Dwayne The Geek also get x-men age of Apocalypse it awesome and still affordable 150-200 it will defi go up
+A LOPEZ Thanks for the advice. I think that's one of my next purchases.
Sandman! Oh you don't know how badly I want these! I adore Neil Gaiman and absolutely loved all his works that I read so far. Why does Sandman gotta be so expensive ugh. Really nice collection you have there :)
You can get all 10 trade papers all in one set for like 130 bucks.. Sandman is great I'd highly reccomend it.. www.amazon.com/Sandman-Slipcase-Set-Neil-Gaiman/dp/1401238637/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1472640855&sr=1-1&keywords=the+sandman+slipcase
Check out "Private eye" by Brian K Vaughn. Very good story and the art is very cool
Nice collection! I'm going to buy the EC comics slipcase vol 1 & 2 never read it before but they look good.
Sweet collection. Quite a few books I saw that I've been trying to get my hands on.
Caldwell Comics Thanks, coming from you that's amazing. I've drooled over your collection video a few times!
thanks man..your collection is really awesome too. look forward to seeing me videos.
Very Nice collection bro!!! Love watching what others are collecting. Like Joakim mentioned, you got a excellent Absolute collection. Just sub. Keep rocking!!!
Thanx for the response! I've got 3 local shops near me.
Love your collection. I was wondering whether you knew that David Lapham drew the Frnnk Miller Daredevil Omnibus that you have? You said you loved his work on Stray Bullets. I was waiting for you to mention that he drew the Miller series but you didn't. Just wondered. I love that DD series and I have the David Lapham DD artist edition in my collection. I have wondered about picking up the new Stray Bullets series that is out now by Dave. I think I'll go to my LCS and get the series while I can. Thanks for the video.
Awesome collection! :)
sweet collection you got there mate, i recommend you check out the sculptor//such a great read in my opinion
+KanzenSaimin I've been meaning to pick it up, only heard amazing things so far!
Love your video.I'm new to comics and collecting. Any tips on where to find the hard to find ones/"white whales"?
+aaron glancy I would search local comic shops around you, maybe there are some places that haven't been raided yet!
I love your collection and it's great, but it makes my OCD alarm go off like crazy. WHY YOU GOT SWAMP THING 6 SO FAR FROM 1-3?!?!
+Brandon Ringo Well I sold it off anyway, so OCD averted!
great stuff I cant belive I haven't ran in to youre channel . just subbed looking forward to youre future video's
DC are releasing a Swamp Thing bronze age omnibus pretty soon collecting House of Secrets #92 and Swamp Thing #1-25.I think its comes out next month.
I think that was canceled :(
No mate,i'm looking at it on amazon.co.uk now released on Mar 14th 2017
Would recommend you check out the VAGABOND Vizbig series. Best manga i've ever read, hands down!
Akira, Appleseed, Nausicaa, and Lone Wolf are obviously classics. The Walking Dead is good too. The Buddha, Shamanism, Star Slammers and the Moebius stuff are the most interesting IMO. I was aware of Moebius before but had only seen some of his artwork. I am keen to read Star Slammers now, so thanks for the tip. No Barefoot Gen though? That's probably the best graphic novel i've ever read. Mai, the Psychic Girl is also pretty good.
I've never liked the Marvel superhero stuff. I'd rather stare at a blank wall. A blank wall probably has more depth. Some DC stuff is ok but 2000 AD is far superior to both of them. ABC Warriors, Judge Death and Rogue Trooper are favourites. Strontium Dog was also a good UK comic but is less well known.
Ok, get ready for a long comment.
-Akira is EPIC and I still need to get to reading Lone Wolf and Cub.
-I don't know if I should start reading Judge Dredd or not.
-From Hell, for me at least, started out with huge amounts of potential. But by the end of the book, I was somewhat disappointed in it. But it was still good overall.
-Alan Moore's Swamp Thing is an instant classic! I really like it!
-I only thought Trillium was ok. And this is coming from a HUGE Lemire fan!
-Stray Bullets is easily one of the most disappointing comics of all time, IMO. It was ok overall, but I didn't love it like how some people did.
-I really should get to reading both Maus and Black Hole.
-Lost Dogs is ok. But, Jeff Lemire's artwork is great as usual.
-Essex County is BEAUTIFUL. One of my personal favorites!
-Wonton Soup and Battling Boy look great! Need to really get to reading those.
-Batman = My favorite character EVER. Don't need to explain anything else. :)
-Grant Morrison's Animal Man is great, but I surprisingly prefer Lemire's run in the New 52.
-100 Bullets and Punk Rock Jesus look FANTASTIC! Can't wait to try those two out!
-WE3 was below average for me. Was a very forgettable book for me.
-East of West started out FANTASTICALLY! Then it went so downhill for me after volume 3 that I stopped caring about it and ended up dropping the book.
-Five Ghosts is a book I REALLY need to go back and read again. It was good, but I just didn't have the time for it then.
-Saga. It's Saga, what more is there to say?
-Never read Crisis on Infinite Earths. Is it any good?
-Well then. I think I need to read Planetary...XD
-Ronin looks pretty cool. Need to check it out.
-Sandman is my favorite comic of all time. Neil Gaiman is a mastermind in setting, relationships and style. I can seriously find no flaws in this series. Simply put, it's a masterpiece.
-I didn't like Transmetropolitan AT ALL. Same with V for Vendetta.
-Watchmen was my favorite comic book before I read Sandman, but I still love that book. Still is the best stand alone book I have ever read, not just stand alone graphic novel.
-Y: The Last Man is the second greatest thing I have ever read in my life (behind Sandman of course).
-Invincible and The Walking Dead are two series I SHOULD be reading but I just am not reading. Really need to get onto those two.
-EC Comics is just the definition of DUMB FUN. I love them, but they are technically not THAT good.
-I really want to read Eightball. It just is too expensive to get the full collection. Or at least two expensive for me.
-Nausicaa looks like a great manga! Really need to read it!
-Thor: God of Thunder is awesome! Some of the best Thor comics I have ever read!
-Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men is the last good X-Men story, IMO.
-Spider-Man Blue is awesome! Always love Loeb and Sale as a duo!
-Osamu Tezuka is an author I REALLY want to love, but I just can't get fully invested into his work that much. Except Black Jack though, I LOVE Black Jack.
-I am dying to read Vinland Saga.
-Hellboy is good from what I have read, but never bothered to continue it. Hmm.
-Sin City looks like barrels of fun! How is it?
-If there is one book that I haven't read yet that I want to read the most, it is The Incal. Moebius is an AMAZING artist and I hear the story is a masterpiece. I just can't find it ANYWHERE!
-Is Brandon Graham's Island any good? I am thinking of starting that up.
Ok, I know this comment is VERY long. But if you read the whole thing, you have my respect. I just love doing these long comment's on people's videos. I did it with Insidious Swede and I did it with you. :) But anyway, AWESOME collection!
+MegaManChiefFan Man, I am actually really touched that you watched that whole things and cared enough to leave this beast. It's funny because for the most part I agree with you 100%! There's a few areas we differ from what you wrote, but what really worries me is a few of the series you didn't like I haven't got around to reading yet. Now I'm wondering if I'll be disappointed in them xD. Thanks so so much for your interest, it means a lot!
+Nerdventures No problem!
Really nice, definitely the biggest ABSOLUTE-collection I´ve seen on youtube so far. You must have pretty much everything that Alan Moore has written...except V for Vendetta, but I´m sure you´ll buy that one too right?
He had absolute V For Vendetta
well I´ll be damned, he did. Guess it´s complete then!
Joakim comiccenter Yeah, I got quite a few from a guy selling his collection off a little while ago and just grabbed the rest where I can find them, one day I want the complete line!
Can we get a video review on your Sin City Library box sets?!? And expand on why you didn't get the big damn sin city. Thanks! And BTW YOUR COLLECTION IS 🔥🔥🔥
Your collection is so cool :) Hope one day I have so many comics as you. For now I only have 5 comics :P
How is it that every comic book collection I've seen on RUclips is missing James Robinson's run on Starman? It's so criminally under-appreciated and has no right to be.
+Benny Trinh I would guess it's because the hardcovers are out of print and not oversized so a lot of collectors like me are holding out for a different printing.
good job nice quality video man keep up the good work 😊
Your absolutely crisis on infinite earths is beautiful
You said artists name correctly, but that J in last name is more like Y in Yankees :). He is from Serbia. Very cool guy.
I am the 2000. subscriber! :o
+mia guhl Yay! We did it!
Dude, awesome collection, I recently started collecting comics myself, always been a fan of manga and universal literature, but I found some authors that I have liked and got me into collecting comics too (Moore and Miller of course). Anyways, a big problem I have is that where I live (Colombia) getting this kind of stuff is either too expensive or hard to find, so, what do you recommend me to do? I try to buy some stuff from Amazon but there are alot of things I have seen you collect I can´t find, don´t know if there are other pages where I can find some good stuff and also what authors do you recommend? Unconventional styles, like Moore for example, thanks alot.
Andrés L things get reprinted all the time step out of your comfort zone and buy something different or find something that's appealing to you there are plenty of great series in print
What do you use to cover on your paperbacks? I just started and I have mostly single issues. But I have the Death of Superman TPB and I want to really preserve it. Any suggestions? And the price range on how much I'll be spending on TPBs. Thanks
+Jed Ravina Personally I don't use protectors for any of my books so I have honesty no idea what sorta cost you'd be looking at. I'd think you could get like magazine size sleeves from a comic shop and those might fit? Sorry I'm not more helpful!
interesting and amazing collection, some of the stuff weighs on my own shelfs here so you must be a man of terrific taste :) Oh you got the complete Absolute Promethea... my envy knows no limits - do you know for what insane prices the first one of these goes on Amazon and Ebay?
+earl grey the next purchase of mine will be this Druillet book, even though I have the Lone Sloane-stories in the old Pilote-magazins, I just have to have them in this book format (shameless plug: You may want to watch my three vids about Mr. Druillet)
+earl grey and at last a bit of wisecracking: the spaceships were painted by Foss and Hugo Pratt was an Italian - thanks for your collection video
+earl grey Ha you're totally right he was Italian my bad! And I will check out those videos posthaste, I'm always looking for more Druillet!
Nice collection man
Do you have any plans on reading Chew?
+InsidiousSwede Can't say I really do... The art doesn't look super amazing to me, I've only heard good things though. Sell me on it!
Question: how do you store your omnibuses?
Doesn't the heavier ones have problems with the spine??
Thanks!
Great collection! But I see you don't have any Belgian comics, though they are great and are worth your while. Please try them out!
What would you recommend? Is Herge Belgian?
yes he is, and Tintin is great. You should also try Blake and Mortimer's as they are one of the best comics I have ever read. Great drawing and great story! Asterix (French) are also a great read. And I don't know if they have translated it but 'Thorgal' and 'Murena' are also considered as one of our best comics.
+Nerdventures yes, Herge is Belgian. I Think Tintin (obvious, i know, but come on) are some of the greatest stories out there.
I'm pretty sure Jason Aaron did Punisher Max...Garth Ennis Did a seperate run...
They both have Punisher Max runs, Ennis was first
nice collection may I ask where did u buy your book shelf they don't bend...
+axehabit They're Ikea Billy bookshelves, so far no sagging but it's only been a few months so I'll update you guys after a bit.
where did you get that batman year one deluxe edition? ive been looking for it
I wasn't a fan of the little Dark Horse digest sized LW&C books either, but unfortunately it's the only way to get the whole story in English. First only made it halfway or so.
Wow too much awesomeness
I know I'm 4 years late lol but the Hardcovers for 100 bullets are like 40% off at instocktrades.com if you're still looking for them and their shipping is fantastic
Very impressed with your Incal set.
How are the sixth gun and Locke and key?
I hope you'll respond to this, can you tell me where you got your bookshelf's from, mine is about to cave in from the weight of the books
Just wondering, but how do you afford all of these absolute editions, omnibuses and hardcovers in your collection ?
+Human987 You should see my bank account... It's not pretty
That is the life that all comic book collectors strive for................ ( "v" )
Absolute editions always confuse me for some reason, so is the only difference that it's bigger?
+No8Named8Shadow Yeah it is larger and a more "premium" format. The pages are thicker and use a nicer matte finish usually which makes the art really show through. The binding and construction of the book itself is a much higher quality than anything else you get from DC, and it comes in the nice slipcase. I mean ultimately it is something like four times the price you would pay for the same content in softcover, it just comes down to if it's one of your favorite stories or something like that it might be worth it to you to upgrade to the extra premium format.
How are the hellboy library editions? are they worth picking up?
cheesealtar they're nicely made and oversized if you get the library editions
in manga bro check out vagabond one of the greatest manga series with best art ever and vizbigs just look amazing.
Yo i didnt even know that the league of extraordinary gentleman was a comic. Is it good?
Yeah, its pretty good. The movie was quite shitty imo, and did zero justice to the source material.
Hows the artwork? Just asking cuz i like very realistic artwork. Not on everything, mostly on people, like muscle definition texture of clothes that sort of style.
The artwork is not for everyone. Its rather cartoony at times, while at others it looks quite beautiful and more realistic . I do recommend checking it out for the story but like I said the art is good, just not for everyone. Its also rather hard to describe it so you should look it up. Hope I helped ;)
we're can I get those bags around your akira trades
+Sebastian Molina They are just standard sized "modern" bags, should be able to buy them at any comics store.
Does some one need Absolute Planetary both volumes?
American Manga ???
What kind of shelves do you use?
+Merlijn van der Woude I use Ikea Billy shelves in the Black-Brown color. I think they are a little under $70 new in the US
+Nerdventures Okay thanks, I bought them too. some tend to bend a little when there's too much weight on them tho.
+Merlijn van der Woude Yeah I've only had them for about... 6ish months? Not much sagging that I can tell so far so I hope it stays that way!
went is hardboiled hc coming?
+A LOPEZ I might have misspoke on that one, I think I was getting it confused with the Rusty and the Boy Robot HC... But I thought I had read about it somewhere...
+Nerdventures damn i which dark horse would release it , also did u see trailer for hardcore henry it reminds me a little of hardboiled
also what did you about starman omnibus v1-6
you have the time to read all this?
+nuno pumpkin I don't!
amazing collection, so many to read, so little time
do you read one punch man just wondering
+COMICBOOKFILMS 1922 No I haven't, my manga knowledge is pretty limited and I don't read any newer titles. I've heard good things, but honestly the size and quality of most manga volumes doesn't make me want to collect them at all
ah i see i have issue one because I got it on free comic book day but i havent read it. I should. My friend suggested it to me. I was just wondering your opinion thanks buddy:)
Whhhooooaaaaa...jelly
The absolutes look great but they are too big/heavy to actually read lol.
y is. there no Spiderman!!!!!!!
+Leo Brocklehurst just got my first Spider-Man book! The Steve ditto omni reprint. Oh actually I have the roger stern one too...
+Nerdventures that's the Marvel way ta do it!!!!!
