I am a 56 yr old woman and I have always wanted to drive a truck. I have done 2 hrs in a MR with another 2 hrs tomorrow arvo booked but this time with a flat bed so I can concentrate on the positioning of my back wheels. Then I have another 2 hrs on the road followed by the exam. I have also reversed park the MR which was 8 metres. I am doing ok considering it was my first time behind a big heavy vehicle. Wish me luck.
Really wish they were required to test you in a bigger truck. MR licence can go up to some pretty bloody big vehicles including buses. 8m is tiny. It's only just big enough to have 'do not overtake turning vehicle' signs
This is a brilliant video. His vocalising what should be every drivers inner dialogue when driving. My only question is do you pre select low range when changing down? Is it the same process as pre selecting high range? Just backwards . Thanks again.
Yes Shaun, preselect the range shift just before making the selection. After preselection, the transmission automatically makes the synchroniser range shift as the shift lever passes through neutral.
@@wattotraining757 thanks so much. I'm curious about everything I'm booked in for hr test in a couple of weeks. Have had a black car licence for years I'm 35 now just deciding to upgrade to broaden horizons. Also brushing up on online car and hr tests, wow have things have changed since 2006 when I passed my initial test.
Hi Danny, the Q-Safe Manual (the ones the Examiners use to assess people of driving tests) states on page 49, "After the turn, it is permissible for the steering wheel to slip back through the hands providing the applicant maintains control of the steering". I hope that helps clarify for you.
Say it to the assessor that failed my exam for letting the steering wheel slide twice (as gently and controlled as you did) at the end of two turns 😢 @@wattotraining757
Hey Watto❗️ Man, something is very wrong with your camera 😳 It’s got some weird wobble thing going on and literally started making me sea sick from the start 🤢 You may need to redo this but fix the camera first. Sorry mate, couldn’t finish it 😕 🚛💨

You are letting your steering wheel spin while you are driving/turning. I failed my driving test doing that.
