  • Q-Safe Driving Test (class LR, MR and HR) - Left Hand Reversing Requirements
    - Reverse the vehicle around a corner as if reversing into a loading bay. (NB: The manoeuvre can be conducted in a left or right-hand direction).
    - The manoeuvre should be commenced from a position parallel to and within 2m of the left road edge or kerb. At the completion of the exercise, the vehicle should be parallel to and within 2m of the edge or kerb.
    - The applicant should be given two attempts to successfully reverse the vehicle around a corner. In each attempt, two reverse movements and one forward movement is allowed. The forward movement for left and right reverse can be as far as the edge or kerb.
    - This exercise should be done predominantly using the mirrors when observing to the rear. An occasional glance over the shoulder is allowed.

    I am a 56 yr old woman and I have always wanted to drive a truck. I have done 2 hrs in a MR with another 2 hrs tomorrow arvo booked but this time with a flat bed so I can concentrate on the positioning of my back wheels. Then I have another 2 hrs on the road followed by the exam. I have also reversed park the MR which was 8 metres. I am doing ok considering it was my first time behind a big heavy vehicle. Wish me luck.

      Really wish they were required to test you in a bigger truck. MR licence can go up to some pretty bloody big vehicles including buses. 8m is tiny. It's only just big enough to have 'do not overtake turning vehicle' signs

    This is a brilliant video. His vocalising what should be every drivers inner dialogue when driving. My only question is do you pre select low range when changing down? Is it the same process as pre selecting high range? Just backwards . Thanks again.

    • @wattotraining757
      @wattotraining757  Месяц назад

      Yes Shaun, preselect the range shift just before making the selection. After preselection, the transmission automatically makes the synchroniser range shift as the shift lever passes through neutral.

      @@wattotraining757 thanks so much. I'm curious about everything I'm booked in for hr test in a couple of weeks. Have had a black car licence for years I'm 35 now just deciding to upgrade to broaden horizons. Also brushing up on online car and hr tests, wow have things have changed since 2006 when I passed my initial test.

    If I’m approaching a turn in 6high and I want to slow down and crawl ahead to my edge of the intersection, can I down shift from 6high to 4low directly without shifting to the 5th low or high?

    • @prranjalsfortitude-bb1ns
      @prranjalsfortitude-bb1ns 5 месяцев назад

      Also what will happen if for some unforeseen reason, I have to shift from 5high directly to 3rd, will the truck manage the shift from 5high to 3rd gear all on it’s own or will I have to manually switch the gearing from the previous high to the new low?

      It depends where you are (ie state/territory, country) but in Queenslnad, AUS you can skip gears but there are certain conditions as outlined in the Testing Procedures: Gears
      Performance outcome
      The applicant should demonstrate correct usage of all the gears appropriate for speed, vehicle and driving conditions.
      All heavy vehicle gear changes should be made within the optimum rev range for the vehicle.
      Note___________________________________________
      In some cases, skip shifting is an acceptable practice. However, this practice is not generally required for cars shifting up through the gears. Consideration should be given to whether the speed is appropriate for the gear ratio and the nature of the driving conditions at the time.

    You are letting your steering wheel spin while you are driving/turning. I failed my driving test doing that.

    • @wattotraining757
      @wattotraining757  11 месяцев назад +6

      Hi Danny, the Q-Safe Manual (the ones the Examiners use to assess people of driving tests) states on page 49, "After the turn, it is permissible for the steering wheel to slip back through the hands providing the applicant maintains control of the steering". I hope that helps clarify for you.
