its great that you still use oxy acetylene , you get less distortion when welding castings than tig welder , its all we had in 1920s and some very big repairs were done every day. a pointed steel rod can be used to stir the pool to the bottom to increase bonding and scrape the oxide and dirty stuff on the top of the pool aside thick sections can be welded without flux using a puddeling rod , the smallest amount of flux should be used as it embeds into the weld and rots the casting eventualy ive had to re do previous repairs done many years ago that were full of defects like worm holes full of flux residue that had to be completely cut out good that you make your own filler too do you make your own flux or buy it there was a book called the" porteus gas welding manual" from the 20s that i learned a lot about aluminium and cast iron its amazing what was recycled /repaired before we turned into a throw away society

Lpg is cheap and doesnt need electricity. This is actually easier. No smut, no tip dip, no regrinding electrodes and cleaning cups. And filler is cheap.
I saw where you pre-heated the metal angle iron BUT did not see where you pre-cleaned the carbon steel metal angle used as a plate nor the the aluminum that you melted for your welding rods. Are the contaminants on the steel and those on and in the aluminum like oxides and greases/oils not a concern with the homemade filler material. I have never welded aluminum this way nor personally witnessed it welded this way and most in the USA would tell you no way that would make a strong porosity free joint just from the contaminants alone and if the surface to be welded were not clean that would just add to their reason to doubt. I have watched this and other youtube videos doing similar processes with similar materials and and surprised at the results.
Not working on a space shuttle. Perfection is not necessary. If it's functional and gets the job done, it's success. A small engine crankcase cover doesn't need space station level quality control.
Those oil soaked engine parts must make for a really clean weld after you melt it into your paint covered mold? I'm not that desperate, I'll stick with a new box of HarrisWelco, some of the "cleanest" rod out there.

Bit hard to define neutral on lpg/oxy. Not clear cut like it is on acetylene. Lean is easy, hissing purple. Otherwise it looks the same for most of the range.

si comparto " parte " ,de tu comentario . pero... por lo visto no se ven poros en su soldaura, ni tampoco se aprecia a simple vista un trabajo mal realizado ! . y en teoria la fundicion de aluminio con mas o menos dureza , comparten materiales similares y compatibles en su compocicion asi que. si reparo una caja de automotor con faltante de un pedazo y uso material para soldar de otra caja deveria funcionar la soldadura, sin nungun problema ... eso dice la ciencia ...
Только в качестве потренироваться. Присадка по составу должна быть близка к свариваемому материалу. Провод считай почти чистый алюминий, из чистого алюминия мало что делается. Шов то получится но по качеству будет как будто от пайки а не сварки.
