The end product was definitely not the same as the hole he plugged. Save yourself the 30 minutes of having to wrestle a grinder and use multiple passes to keep a relatively flat surface so you don't have to spend too much time cleaning it
I had a big gap to fill on the bottom of a 24 inch pipe joint(lousy pipe fitter), I mean a big gap. Biggest rod I could get my hands on was 1/8” 7018. So I simply held the stinger in one hand and another rod in the other. Ran the weld kind of like a tig weld. Worked fine.

In my opinion this is only an interesting job for laymen in the field of Welding. If you use two 2.5mm rods (one coated and the other not, you will simply have a deposit with the possibility of greater porosity, as with a smaller amount of slag (deposit protective husk) there is a greater possibility of porosity due to the greater inlet. So if you put two 2.5 rods together to do this job, it's much simpler and more practical for you to use just one 4.0mm rod, where your welding machine will work with a lower amperage and you won't have all that immense work in having to keep peeling Electrodes. My Inspection and Testing teacher damn near had a heart attack when I showed her this video. Her exact words were "that's why buildings collapse"
And she knows cause thats what her code book says
@@richarddavis1413 When she says "The Code" you can *hear* the capital letters.
I would always just use an extra one like I was tig welding. I of coarse beat all of the Flux off from it 1st. Your way looks like it would be easier though. Cool beans dude. ✌
A legitimate welder would never do anything like this.
Agreed

🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
Agreed
The end product was definitely not the same as the hole he plugged. Save yourself the 30 minutes of having to wrestle a grinder and use multiple passes to keep a relatively flat surface so you don't have to spend too much time cleaning it
Just weld in a small slice of bolt or round bar .
That's called "Texas TIG" and your weld would have failed an X-Ray or Ultrasound test.
@@BillyWitchDoctorDotCom damn, I haven’t heard about the Texas TiG in a long time!! 😂

Já vou começar a testar
No lo había visto genial idea
Metoda starsza od węgla.Dziś już nie trzeba kombinować jak kiedyś.Teraz technika spawania jest dużo lepsza .Wystarczy przemyślany zakup sprzętu i obejdzie się bez kombinacji

Amazing,what a revelation!
By the time you have chipped off the flux, sanded the rods down and tacked them together. I've burned 10 rods without any defects! Everyone is a welder till a real welder turns up!
Amen to that..I was a welder since my Early 70s..Retired 2018. Was a B - Pressure welder by trade..
Truth, my thoughts exactly
@@henryherman9113 you from Alberta?
Makes as much since to me as running a lap around the house before walking in the front door. You can do it that way, but why would you?
Could just texas tig it and hold the other rod, no reason to bust all the flux off.
Nice . Same as thicker rod . Or three face welding . Need more amps.
Nice watching from Bangladesh 🇧🇩😮
What does the back side of these improvised welding rig fillers look like?
In my opinion this is only an interesting job for laymen in the field of Welding.
If you use two 2.5mm rods (one coated and the other not, you will simply have a deposit with the possibility of greater porosity, as with a smaller amount of slag (deposit protective husk) there is a greater possibility of porosity due to the greater inlet. So if you put two 2.5 rods together to do this job, it's much simpler and more practical for you to use just one 4.0mm rod, where your welding machine will work with a lower amperage and you won't have all that immense work in having to keep peeling Electrodes.
P.S. I have been working with Welding processes for 25 years
That was my first thought to, why fuck around with all that when all you need is a bigger rod
im sure they dont have bigger rod. and the boss said work with what we have.
@@markcarolino9908
Even if they don't have bigger rods there is other processes which is far better work practices than what he did. You try to be a little bit professional, not yard shit
@The Old Husky quindi ho messo dislike !
Excelente!🇧🇷🇧🇷👏👏
Thank You very much, good worked .
Beautiful Sharing ❤👍👍
Beautiful Job 👌✌👍👍

Hasil akhir yang bagus. Mantap 👍
Awesome videos ! 👍👍
