Put some SSD knuckles on it and aluminum wheels and the Hold tires from JConcepts and run that course again you will complete the course and probably beat your comp rig while you are at it.
Not the first time I see someone find out that the Ecto straight out of the box is incredibly capable. Interesting to see how the sway bar + trailing arms setup that most people hate performs really well.
The Element stuff is indeed very capable, even in RTR. There were loads of them at EAST, including me with a Sendero HD and a Gatekeeper, they all monstered most of the terrain. A few choice mods (tyres, bit of weight up front) and they are pretty much unstoppable. Oh and if you like EAST then get to SST in September, it's the same thing but twice the size and over 2 days!
All smart ass comments aside, it's good to see a nice thriving R/C community in the UK. There's a hell of a lot worse things you can be doing with your time and dollars. ....
You know I regreat all the money I put into my Crawlers if you ask me they were fine out of the box maybe just a little weight here and there and that's all lol
Got the ecto two weeks ago myself and love it, though I have no idea how your suppose to put the full size battery tray in it, I tried, you might have to have the other body, the wagon body just can't fit over it, in the front or back, wish I learned this before I bought a full size battery . . . .
Also added a winch, you have to move the speed controller and, again the wagon body gives you next to no space, I managed, putting it on top of the winch, but it can't fit any where else pretty much, so great RC but hard to manage the space if your new to modding, upgrading receiver next!
This is awesome i have been looking at buying one of those scratch n dent trucks. I have been wanting to get into crawling and its a fantastic starter truck if you want to donk one out over time!
I'm building an SCX10 II based crawler entirely from aliexpress aftermarket parts, including carbon frame, portal axles and lots of somewhat high end stuff and it should only cost about £330! I'm really excited to see how good it is
Tell you what mate here's my 2 cents on crawlers... my favourite crawler hands down was my pangolin with 4ws upgrade and I have a couple different crawlers of different scales nowadays ..the pangolin had all the trimmings across the truck.. Upgraded the remote transmitter motor and gearing to hardened parts.... For all the functional upgrades I spent maybe 300ish from memory that was including the remote.. however I just had to have everything the same colour so I forked out for all the anodised upgrades and rws linkage and mount that cost me more then the functional upgrades 🤯 sold it as life went sideways for a while.. but I'd buy it again any day of the week and I would spend it again 😂😂 Ive a few different trucks now but that thing was the best at crawling.. could almost go full horizontal around a sharp corner of a box roughly the size of your average 1/10 ... Thanks for all the effort mate 🙂
The elements not a bad truck however they're selling it at 399 for an extra 80 bucks one could have the Vanquish Phoenix ready to run truck which is three times the truck to the element is
My Gatekeeper is very capable. And dang, that black Ecto body looks really good. Tempted to Ecto-ize my Gatekeeper. Reduced weight should make it even better, too.
My capra axled comp rig im using a much longer servo horn and different steering link to get full steering Also run a little more caster angle by leaning the axle back slightly by lengthening front lower links .
Awesome event. Awesome video. And with the servo on chassis as opposed to the axle, with smaller tyres and a hard body, the ecto could be competitive in Class 1
Great video.of the event nate. Thank you. Bring your comp crawler next time your at BERCC and we can have a look and see if there's anything we can do to improve your rig. You might just need competition practice.
Great video Phil, interesting results, would be interesting to add a bit of brass and some different tires and run it again. Toe out really helps on the steering, also narrowing the track would really help, your comp crawler looks very wide, I normally go for about 260mm for Class 2. Sorry about gate 9, I set that one, I did test it with my Class 1 and it was doable, maybe it got worn away with all the use.
Cheers mate.... yeah, needs some tweaking for sure. I'm still new to the whole comp stuff, so it's good to have you guys around for some solid advice. Gate 9..... yes... Gate 9 haha
Yeah and you also got to learn your Casper camper if you kick your links down to the bottom and far out it will roll your axle out and if you just your toe out then would you steer you can lay them tires on their side and try not to give it the beans so much I know you said you don't really do this that much but try not to give it too much to draw it'll and try to learn the technical side of crawling it is very technical dang I think you did amazing know on both of them and I haven't even watched them
Can't just bad your way through the gate got a really think of it as a technical thing like 89 if you would have put your right tire up on the wall your left tire on the Rock possibly could have wedged your way up and around I'm not grouchy that you were complaining about nothing you did amazing I'm just saying like you got to slow down very technical
So, not trying to be facetious, but does it make you feel like crap that you spent that much and it performed so poorly? I’m asking, because although it wasn’t a crawler build, I did an Arrma Typhoon full in all M2C, Schorched, and Vitavon build, and the car performs so poorly I don’t even want to touch it most of the time. I actually kinda hate the thing.
Thats the kind of comps i can get into, no scale points. Too bad its in the UK. FYI,your comp rig is a cheater rig, might as well run jconcepts ruptures on it. F-scale points. 🤙🏽
"the prob is it rubs on the front" that's what SHE said! Funny story: I was dating a young lady who had an angora sweater.....the prob? The fuzz was all worn off the part that covered her boobs lol....THAT'S NOT ALL ME!!! some of that's due to her jacket!!!
When tomley has a 2k rig but really doesn't understand gearing , yet tries , yes tries to give a comparison??? To a stock rig..lol sorry this video is confusing more than anything else.
I really want to get the yellow ecto (what is different with this one over the normal?) And build the heavy wecker by matssoffroadrecovery. I just dont have money
The elements not a bad truck however they're selling it at 399 for an extra 80 bucks one could have the Vanquish Phoenix ready to run truck which is three times the truck to the element is

Only recently started in the hobby - the more I see of events like this the more I cant wait to attend.
The law of diminishing returns in action.
Very informative, nice one Tomley. Never considered the Ecto before.
Not the first time I see someone find out that the Ecto straight out of the box is incredibly capable. Interesting to see how the sway bar + trailing arms setup that most people hate performs really well.

Thanks for the contributions
Can you show how you clean your cars?
That’s a lot of technical jargon to just say driver error 😂😂😂.great vid as always 👍
How dare you! hahaha
A bad workman blames his tools lol, sounding more like Kevin, nice video 😂
Tumble womble
My element ecto (paid $350 ish) was the most impressive rtr I’ve ever had.
"It's the pilot, not the airplane. Don't think, just do it!" 😬
Great comparison, Phil! Thanks!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
" You're the first one to fall off that rock line that " 🙈🤣 great video‼️👍👍🦾🦾
would be great to see a comparison between the Ecto and the FTX Texan, they look quite similar but . . . . . . .
You know I regreat all the money I put into my Crawlers if you ask me they were fine out of the box maybe just a little weight here and there and that's all lol
The ecto is the best RTR on market, for sure. 👍🏽

Awesome!!! Can you add LED lights on this RC? And interior for a driver?😮
Nice montage at the end and better music than sometimes aswel

Thank you now I feel more confident with my budget rigs
My Gatekeeper is very capable. And dang, that black Ecto body looks really good. Tempted to Ecto-ize my Gatekeeper. Reduced weight should make it even better, too.
Love the ecto 👍 looks great and handle well I think 👍👍😀😀
Phil u should think about getting a dig for that sick crawler.
Good stuff Phil. Commendable performance by the out of the box rig. Cool location too.
My capra axled comp rig im using a much longer servo horn and different steering link to get full steering Also run a little more caster angle by leaning the axle back slightly by lengthening front lower links .
Your lcg rig proves that a body doesn't have to be perfect to be really cool. 😎😎
Awesome event. Awesome video. And with the servo on chassis as opposed to the axle, with smaller tyres and a hard body, the ecto could be competitive in Class 1
Sounds like an Amazing time! Free Coffee?
you should maybe install the dug-in option on the comp rig
how does the element ecto compare with the RGT challenger?
very nice review tomley
Looked like a good time!
You can definitely tell when its on the rocks you dont have enough weight!
The echo IS the best cheap out of the box crawler around
2000 grand.. should have built the VRD carbon and Rock Pirates Kraken Chassis and the brass upgrades and your golden..
We're the stones put their by intent or was it natural?
Element Ecto or Capra? This is the question I have.
Live in East anglia as a air force brat loved that place
An you explain the competition classes?
Great video.of the event nate. Thank you. Bring your comp crawler next time your at BERCC and we can have a look and see if there's anything we can do to improve your rig. You might just need competition practice.
Cheers mate.... yeah, needs some tweaking.
Reefs doesn't make servos, they just put their name on them and raise up the price. That's either a K-Power or AGFRC servo depending on the age.
Throw in an ISDT Esc for $25, drag the throttle curve to flatten it around neutral, and the ecto will be leap years better.
Great video Phil, interesting results, would be interesting to add a bit of brass and some different tires and run it again. Good thing they didn’t count reverse in the comp lol
Happens to me all of the time, can work through the gates off time but struggle in the acrual comp.
Ecto my next truck.
Thanks
you should have taken your redcat ascent
Yeah and you also got to learn your Casper camper if you kick your links down to the bottom and far out it will roll your axle out and if you just your toe out then would you steer you can lay them tires on their side and try not to give it the beans so much I know you said you don't really do this that much but try not to give it too much to draw it'll and try to learn the technical side of crawling it is very technical dang I think you did amazing know on both of them and I haven't even watched them
good video, the Ecto did well all things considered
Wow that was tuff to watch I kept seeing lines but ya ouch.
gotta try the fusion pro 2300 2 in 1
There's a guy called crawler Canyon on here that could really help you with that stuff also your panhard bar to play into that
Yes I watch that guy
"With someone else driving it".... yeah like me!! I'd of smashed it!!!.... smashed it into the nearest large rock and killed it....
Great video!!
Ecto 👍
Had to enter the raffle even though i couldn't win a bet on a 1 horse race 😂
You need 4 wheel steer
My ecto will walk up walls
Why are you running carbon rims, don't you want more weight down low?
It had heavy brass portal covers. Less rotating mass with carbon wheels…. 👌
Muy buenos dias Mr como estas , hay veces no es el auto es el conductor , saludos y feliz dia
Nice
Who won your Tamiya competition?

$2000 on a 1/10 scale rc car is just mad
why charge for givaway wtf...
Simple, it’s not a giveaway 👍

Generally infamous means bad
Yeah you’re right haha.. the complete opposite of what I meant 🤣🤣
Proved that crawling is boring! 😜
Great video though! 👍
Driver mod might help also lol…. Jk
Comparing a swing axel to a linked rig. Really not an apples to apples comparison, just 2 rigs. Technically this video is cooked.
A real comp crawler would never have hyrax tires , at least a respectable one.. they look fake..
Noice
When tomley has a 2k rig but really doesn't understand gearing , yet tries , yes tries to give a comparison??? To a stock rig..lol sorry this video is confusing more than anything else.
First
The element ecto box states its a comp 2 rig 😂
I really want to get the yellow ecto (what is different with this one over the normal?) And build the heavy wecker by matssoffroadrecovery. I just dont have money
Only difference is body and wheel colour
@@rab.. ok thanks :)
