I've got this one in the stash. I'm waiting for some pre-cut masks for the RAM pattern and some aftermarket decals for the VTANG. I was in the VTANG for 15 years, they're scheduled to receive F-35s in the next year or two.
I'm looking for a good 1/72 scale model of this plane, but I'm undecided. I like this model with the nice detailing and the option of open weapon bays, but I also like the Hasegawa kit with decals for all the joint tape markings on the plane. The latter is such a brilliant idea that I'm not sure why no one else is doing that.
a word of caution, the kit is an absolute pleasure to build but the decals are so bad that it ruins all the hard work put into it. they just wouldn't stick to the surface and only glue would do the trick. horrible

Looks like a nice kit! I saw what looks like a bit of flash here and there, but that's no problem for serious modellers.

I heard a news once that Donald trump rant about the f-35 because it's to expensive and demand it to be cheaper
He instead has ordered many upgraded f18s.
He negotiated the price with Lockheed. They're going to continue to buy F-35s. An upgraded F-18 wouldn't be very much cheaper and MUCH less capable.
