Working on this kit right now. This and Tamiya's F14 are the best 1/48 aircraft I've ever built for fit and detail. The overall quality of their recent releases is totally unmatched. Some other brands recent releases are coming close but Tamiya takes the crown. The engineering and fit of this F35 is the best I've ever seen.
If you don't want a pilot you're going to need aftermarket belts, decals don't cut it. You might also want a mask set for the RAM and markings, depending on your preference.
Great job from Tamiya. Once again. Just finished their 1/48 F-14A and I do not want to build kits of other brands anymore :) Amazing engineering. Now give us F-22 and Mig-29 please.
Tamiya models are already better than other brands ( including Takom, Dragon, Trumpeter, Rye- field so on) however, Tamiya raised bar even higher with this new 1/48 scale F-35 aircraft model. Tamiya has ( has been) awesome model engineering technology.
As far as 1/48 planes Tamiya went a little stale for a while, and then once they introduced the F-14s, the P-38s, and their F-4B last year, they have considerably raised the bar and then some. Now I wish they would step out from their usual comfort zone and get some real armor kits out there. Don’t get me wrong the M18 is a plastic engineering marvel, but it still just a basic M18
Awesome video!!! WOW!!! the level of detail on this aircraft is just unbelievable, especially the landing gear bays. Can remember growing up in 1960s-1970s and you were lucky IF a model kit had any detail of any kind in the landing gear bay. Amazing how the hobby has evolved throughout the decades!!
Superb! I mean what other word is there? This thing clicks together, literally, and the detail is amazing! 👍 (now, if only they would give their armor kits this kind of love)!
I wouldn't say that. In box reviews have helped me steer away from kits I might have bought, also given me second thoughts about kits I wasn't initially interested in.
HEY!! an included pilot figure!!! I will actually buy this kit! Unlike the awesome Monogram kits of the past, many manufactures have stopped putting pilot figures in the kits. Forcing you to build sleek jets sitting on the ground with every door, hatch, wheels down ( so they can break off), and cockpit open (or empty..). I hate that. Good job Tamika!!! THANKYOU. Now, if they didn't cost 100 bucks, I could build 3 and hang them from the ceiling!!! Where are the 1/48 B-47, C-119, and something other than the same old P-51, ME-109, F-4U, ???
great kit with great detail. I've never build any military model kit so far, only gundam, will try it someday. Anyway, would love to see u paint it too.
OMG I remember when I used to try to build these models when I was a kid often times break pieces or lose them some where and I had a hard time putting on the decals straight and aligned properly but I tried pretty hard despite the amount of time difficulty and frustration that went into it lol it was at least some what of a learning experience.
As a raw constructed model it looks like for the most part it has the usual great fit one would expect from Tamiya, it looks to have great well defined details and is a nice looking kit...would be nice to see a fully completed and weathered version of yours...and also looking forward to seeing it in production, as it is a kit I'd definitely be looking to acquire...thank you for the post!!!! Cheers from Sydney Aus!!!
@@alessiodecarolis Ah ok, I used to build a lot of 1/72 aircraft back in the day. I found the effort too much for the result. All the shading and weathering was barely visible in such small scale, that's why I converted to 1/48. Regarding sci fi, I'm building a Star Destroyer right now, a lot of work as I'm lighting it. Sonach drilling and wiring 😃
Mould manufacturing techniques have moved on in the last few years by the look of it and Tamiya seem to be taking full advantage if this kit is anything to go by. I bet it ain’t cheap though!
Currently I am building this and did not touch putty once. Its a cliche saying but it literally fits like lego you just gotta glue the parts Big thumbs up
Very exciting to watch the dry fit, 😀 can imagine what it's going to look like once painted & weathered. Excellent preview Dusan. 👌 The only thing which puts me off is the price, I know for a Tamiya new mould & raw materials ect, but how do you justify it to the wife? Hoooooo! Christmas is just round the corner. Happy modelling.
Holy hell that fit is incredible :O Another Tamiya kit where you don't need to go back to the hobby shop if you forgot to buy filler... The surface features however pain me very much... That's a big screw up in my opinion... Those stripes are tape that does not have a third "dimension" IRL, and their purpose is to hide the rivets, they don't come through it... sigh...
the detail is superb with one exception and I certainly don't want to be critical- but I don't understand why F-35 models still have the stealth covering so pronounced - is is a covering and is almost flush. I would sand it all down to realistic height before proceeding with anything further
...This kit has even more engineering behind that the actual plane! I mean, is designed to be built by pretty much anyone with almost the same level of detail and complexity than the actual F35 (and without a single faulty component!).
How does Tamiya consistently deliver such engineering accuracy in their kits. Close two parts together, no seam ? I built Kittyhawks B version of this two years ago and still haven’t finished it due to the fit issues experienced
Looks nice and the fitting is typical Tamiya perfect. However to me it looks like Tamiya has done exactly what every other manufacturer has done and made the RAM tape to thick. I would have preferred to even less accentuated RAM coating. Preferably only the decal.
Incredible model. Just a note: Are you filming your builds in 25fps and then exporting them at 30fps? I see a lot of ghosting in the frame whenever your hand or the model moves.
Looks like tamiya have raised the hobby to another level.
Where? Looks just as easy to build as the italeri 1/32 f35A or how I imagine the meng options go together. Details are about the same
It looks like they have raised the external panel detail way out of scale, that's for sure...
@@marcranger4596 details are the same? LOL I have the meng kit and it can not even hold a candle to this....
Having seen the $1000 Lancaster bomber kit I would say hold that thought
@@thekunninglinguist2397 Very valid point!

Tamiya have outdone themselves. Probably the best enginerred 1/48 kit to date.
In my opinion this is the first candidate for „Model Of The Year“. Great details and absolutely NO need for aftermarket. Greetings from Germany

@@kjaesp I had the same thoughts.
Tamiya made new golden standart for plastic kits ingineering. Again. Thanks a lot for test build, Dusan!
I am lucky enough to see and touch all models( A,B and C) of F-35s almost daily. This is the ONLY kit that appears to be dimensionally accurate!! 🙂
*All the know how of Tamiya is in this kit, high level details, easy assembly, you can focus on the paint with serenity. Thnaks for this build!*

That’s the most beautiful out the box canopy I've ever seen 😮
I really enjoyed that. I hope you do a part 2 with painting and weathering.

I really hope Tamiya R&D have idea to make mini servo for motorized landing gear which able to open and close and also motorized weapon bay cover...
I do agree but, take a look at the Trumpeter 1/32 F-35c. That is one hell of a nice kit.

TAMIYA create some of the best kits - if not the best kits. Always have.
Hi Dusan, your videos are one my absolutely favorites. Thank's for your wonderful work!
Thanks for your kind words!! All the best! Dusan.

Wow, Nicely done!
already have my order in for 2 of these...can't wait
Amazing... perfect fit everywhere and stunning details! Can't wait! Cheers from Argentina... nice modeling channel you have!
i love they included a number of liveries from different air forces
Beautiful model and amazing work 👍👍👍
WOW, awesome model kit
awesome can't wait to get my hands on one. The engineering is so good it goes together like LEGO.
Wow the details of the internals is quite something!
Nice looking kit, can't wait to get this one
Wonderful presentation of perhaps the best detail and molding I have ever seen in a scale model……❤️👍👍👍
Wow, this kit looks phenomal! Can’t wait to get my hands on it.
The level of detail in the weapons bay is amazing!!!
Scheint ein richtig guter Bausatz zu sein! Kommt definitiv auf meine Liste!
Wow!!!
So maybe other than adding a Quinta set which I’m sure will be coming, I’m building this straight bob!
Thank you for the awesome review!
Watch the decals, too. Decals are the kryptonite of Tamiya kits.
@@mikemontgomery2654 very true. I’m on my third 1/48 F-4B and I have yet to even think about using the kit decals
Great kit.
I really hope you going to paint it as late version.
👍😁👍

That focus at 2:15 is impressive !
Awesome engineering on that kit 👍
Well, as expected, a superb model, now i only have to wait for the F-35C variant...😎

Landing gear bay is quite impressive. I thought it would be impossible to cast something like that, as it is no resin.
Tamiya tooling and slide molding has shown to be top notch now. Literally zero flash
