This is just perfect! 80s sound, Top Gun scenes, a perfectly built model of one of the most beautiful aircraft and not to forget your really good video work. I watched it several times, I just love it! And yeah, I really need to buy me a Tomcat model kit now...
The attention to detail is outstanding. This is BY FAR my favorite Tamiya 1/48 F-14 build on RUclips. I've been a long time fan and seeing how your skills improve with every video you've put out has prompted me to get cracking on some of my kits. Just absolutely awesome F-14. I think that you hit it spot on. I was a senior in high school when this movie came out. It’s what made me want to join the Us Navy. This build brung back alot of memories. Thank you very much.
Wow! I came across this by accident and can I say that the finished article is amazing. So hats off to you for sharing. I have a Revell Typhoon, 1:32 scale my wife bought for me several years ago and am so nervous of building it but this has inspired me to maybe get back into modelling again. Many thanks!
An absolutely beautiful peace of work... 30 years ago I have done exactly this model. But it evolved a lot and the quality of my work were only 5% of what you have done here. But it was my first model with rubber wheels and aluminum rims... a beautiful peace of art you made.
Wow what can I say this is definitely your best model yet, you did a amazing job of the pilot’s. And the clips of the movie with the music just perfect. You need to enter it into a future contest, thanks paige 💕
Hi Paige! Unfortunately not every aircraft is such iconic to be featured in a movie lol 🤣 But yeah I have this idea to use some video clips now, Flight of the intruder it's a must when I get the A-6 😁😁😁
You know you'rw watching talent when you begin to look beyond the actual build and realise this video is 29 minutes long (and is speeded up). For example: let's say the actually footage is 1 hour long when unspeeded...that itself is a wonder...but then you take into account all the clips and bits that were edited out...you begin to realise just how long the original footage must have been and how good and all the other vids on this channel is. Leave aside I love the Tomcat, the patience and talent needed to make and publish vids like this on a regular basis puts my paltry basic attempts to shame. Keep up the excellent work 😎👊🙏👍
Just caught this vid 3 - 8 - 22 - Still on Long Island myself - my father was an airframe engineer for Grumman - till Cheney took them out - my father just passed and I thought of having a friend build this for me (I suck at model builds) in honor or all Grumman - great reply -
Reminds me of my time in the Navy - I actually repaired over 10,000 Tomcats single handedly in my 5 years of service. There was one time where the Alert 5 pilot had to duck off to a toilet break only a minute before the plane had to be launched. I had to take his spot in the pilot seat to defend the fleet. To my knowledge I’m still the only maintainer to have shot down 12 Migs in a single sortie although it’s possible that record has been broken by now as that was back in the 90s. Nice model by the way.
Wow! When iI was younger, I built scale airplanes. Boy do I feel inadequate. The amount of layers of paint job to achieve realism is quite daunting. That aircraft looked like as if they took a real f-14 and shrunk it. I aspire to achieve only a fraction of what skill it took to do this. Incredible!
I was an avid model builder as a kid and was pretty good at it. I tried to get back into it recently and found my eyes failed me and my hands shook too much. Lego is my only option but I value true model builders. Great job!

Thank you for a great video at a time when we are all stuck at home watching RUclips. You two stay safe and healthy as well.
Great job layering. This is so useful for mech and Gundam builders. Makes it much more realistic. It's a little too battle worn for me but still great work! More suitable for tanks and mechs.
I built a similar model, a 1/48th F-14, 24 yrs ago, had the same swing mechanism. Didn't have that level of cockpit detail. And of course, I didn't come close to doing it the justice these boys did! Beautiful!
An unforgettable hero in difficult days for Iranians Tomcat was the top fighter in the Iran-Iraq war, but with the courage of Iranian pilots The Iranians have a world record of battles with this aircraft - especially General Jalil Zandi who had more than 11 hunts with this aircraft.

Great balls of fire! That's a beautiful model and very screen accurate. You also have the new D kit in the larger scale. It's interesting and I have a few pictures. The Toms had poor performance in the readiness and were always being torn apart. Because of the corrosion from the ocean and excessive wear and tear from being worked on a lot, the F-14s rarely had the same shade of grey in them when nearing the end of the tour. The panels were always being sprayed with rattlecans and a panel could easily have a dozen different shades of grey on it. They look like patchwork nearing the end of the cruise. This also worked, accidentally, as an extra low visibility camo. People tend to mistake the look as the birds being dirty, which of course they were... But it's the paint. You did a beautiful work with the clear paints modeling this. I never thought about doing that. Was that your idea or did you find the technique somewhere?
