This is was too awesome! Having one of the crew give the background on the jet was a fantastic touch. Glad I’m still building mine so I can use yours as a guide.
i was on that cruise when you guys painted the tail. I was attached to VAQ-138 Yellowjackets. It was an awesome tail design. That was the cruise that was supposed to be the "around the world" cruise. We left San Diego went to Japan, Hong Kong, Dubai, Bahrain, then Mayport and Norfolk. A lot of time spent in the gulf. It was fun to see all the tail designs that year.
Great intro with Bio! I always enjoy hearing him talk about Tomcats! Beautiful build once again and I am going to have to investigate the UV resin you used.
I really like the effect you did for the panel lines. Having the lighter highlight with the airbrush and the darker panel liner reminds me of how some traditional art/cartoons have a black outline and then a white outline around that. Makes both your panel lines and the art pop.
yeah i hade few issues with resin tires, the first reskit set did not fit at all, then i painted kit set, then i ordered eduard set but had problem alligning them and I eventually gave up on them.
I just don’t get why all these great models are slightly spoiled by weathering the ceiling of the landing gear bay, unless I’m mistaken, they aren’t stored upside down so oil/grease/fluid wouldn’t pool/accumulate on the ceiling of the landing gear bay, you’d have streaks down the sides or drips on the actual landing gear. Something to consider next time, otherwise I love the detail work, and please don’t take it personally, your work is incredible, and all these modellers make the same mistake, planes aren’t stored upside down so fluid won’t accumulate on the ceiling 😂
This jet has to be my all time favorite jet! I was on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, CVN-71, from '93-'97. I had the pleasure of launching many an F-14 off of Catapult #3, Waist Catapult, before they were decommissioned. The F-14 would have to "kneel down" before we hooked up the holdback Bar to get ready for launch. There was a small tab we had to pull on to get the launch bar to drop while it was kneeling down. That part of the launch sequence was my favorite, next to the wings opening up! The Full afterburner on a dark night was a sight to see and hear! Amazing!
My instructor was in VF-111 and flew in Vietnam and after and was reserve status for a very long time flew all the way into the F/A-18 transition went from F-4 to F-14 to F/A-18, was an awesome man with the biggest heart I had ever seen. I have a soft spot for the F-14 it was why I wanted to become a pilot but they were phasing them out when I was old enough to join and I really hurt my back so I wouldn't have been able to fly anyway so I gave up on that dream.
That build was absolutely beautiful, you have done such a brilliant job and all the techniques you showed, I can’t wait to try them out for myself. You are a true master at this craft and it’s a work of art. By the way the video was put together perfectly and How you broke down the process into other videos is so helpful to you watchers. Thank you and can’t wait for your next build
Great to see your video's again - RUclips algorithm messed up. great work on this and a lovely intro from the man himself. keep up the great work Dawid.
I am enjoying watching you build this amazing aircraft from inside the hangar bay off USS Gerald R. Ford on the maiden deployment. Amazing skills and an amazing model you have created!
Work of art. I have the same kit but it is still boxed, lol. I want to learn more techniques on making the real world wear and tear marks etc. on the plane.
As a maker and kit painter, I can tottaly tell how much love for the plane you have. That's why you're OCD on every details to make it perfect and as close to realistic as possible. Also thank you for the trick regarding the masking gel to keep navy plane's panel edges stay lighter color ( salt deposit right?). It was a eureka moment for me, pure genius for navy jets. Thank you again for sharing your passion. And that 80s style bgm...Maverick approved!
SOooo much better than wash slapped on and an exhaust streak brushed on! Beautiful!! Question: why are canopies not aged and weathered too? Everybody I've watched seems to clear coat them and leave them factory fresh regardless of what they do to the rest of the model.
Im sorry i keep bothering by asking you “when are you going to upload the video” all the time on facebook 😂 this is totally worth it i learned alot of weathering technique from your video , thank you 182!
superb and amazing. so many processes. ive workrd for a furniture designer and we learn attention to detail from you. really wonderfull and exceptional work friend
I’ve built 5 tomcats and a lot of the work in weathering was wasted when you painted over the body. I’ve achieved great results in stippling with my airbrush. You can save time and sweat by doing this. Over all a great model build.
Nice Build! I can only hope to approach this level of modeling when I buy this kit. I want an entire compliment of aircraft at the transition from intruders to F4 to Hawkeyes, to Grumman COD flights Gotta have the Corsair 2 and the A5 Vigilante too! Copters can’t be forgotten either.
That is so incredibly impressive. Im working on an old monogram cat right now and I watched this for some inspiration on micro details, however I still have class to attend so i cant add every oil spill you did😅. wish I was on this level though, awesome model + beautiful plane!
Thanks for this Scale Hangar. First time viewer....will be back. F-14's and model building/flying/destroying accidentally are a passion for me too. Your work is friggin' AWESOME. 👍 I don't mean to imply that you can't pilot RC aircraft....That's my forte!
Awesome to have a message from "Bio", would love to sit down for a coffee with him and hear some stories
dude, you have to read his books!!!
@@ScaleHangar182 I will check them out for sure!
I should also mention how amazing your work is - truly an inspiration!
Bedankt
thank you very much. This is perhaps my first super thanks 😅😅
This is was too awesome! Having one of the crew give the background on the jet was a fantastic touch.
Glad I’m still building mine so I can use yours as a guide.
Agreed, seems like a great dude
Mano, se vc queria informações do aviao, é só ir no War Thunder que vc achava até mesmo informações secretas😂😂😂

What an intro Hangar! 🫡
Immediately subscribed.
I love planes too.
The build and the weathering is fantastic! One of the best I have seen to date. Bio's stories are some of the best!
Your attention to detail is incredible, excellent work. Greetings from Brazil.
muito obrigado!
David, you've raised the bar once again! Great video, lots of ideas and cool painting/ weathering solutions for all Tomcat Builders👍👍👍.
This is amazing. Back in 2013 I went on a trip to Washington D.C. and met and bought his book "Top Gun Days"
Wow! Amazing job! That patch brought back memories as my father was the chief safety inspector for this aircraft for over 20 years.
Amazing ❤❤❤ watching from Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 🇺🇿🇺🇿🇺🇿🇺🇿
I really like the effect you did for the panel lines. Having the lighter highlight with the airbrush and the darker panel liner reminds me of how some traditional art/cartoons have a black outline and then a white outline around that. Makes both your panel lines and the art pop.
*A long video, so many products, add on, paints, etc. for an MAGNIFICENT result, congrats David, your F-14 is so realistic!*
Great Built! And I love the weathering! But one important Thing is missing: Flat Tyres to simulate the heavy Weight of the Airplane.

I enjoyed this video of this build F-14 Tomcat jet.
I will never get tired of watching you build the F-14A
😅😅 Good because I love Tomcats.
@@ScaleHangar182 because of you I got myself the same kit twice! I never get tired of putting them together 😜
It is an amazing piece of aircraft. Love it.
Thank you for inspiring me for my next build, extremely exceptional job.
Thank you!
Spot on, I can still remember the heat from the exhaust
The best scale model aircraft I've seen for a long time!!! 👍👍
Thank you!
A glorious and beautyful Tomcat! Greetings for you from Guatemala, The Land of Quetzal Bird, Símbol of Freedom.

I envy you :)
I think this is your best work thus far. Really awesome build and history as well to it!
Great job! Finally, there are models that do not have hypertrophied rivets and stitching.
Amazing build - When first working with oils, you soon learn that a little goes an awful long way !!!
My instructor was in VF-111 and flew in Vietnam and after and was reserve status for a very long time flew all the way into the F/A-18 transition went from F-4 to F-14 to F/A-18, was an awesome man with the biggest heart I had ever seen. The USS Nimitz just returned home here to Bremerton, WA in July. I believe it’s last deployment. Very cool message from Mr. Baranek.
I'm currently building one from Vf-211 as well, this is a awesome touch to have bio appear, amazing work Dawid!!!
These painting skill are totally nuts. Left me completely speechless
An absolutely outstanding performance. The painting, weathering and even the editing. Pure entertainment. Bravo Dawid👑
Amazing job with your building and great deal work on the Model of My All Time favorite Fighter jet The Grumman F -14A Tom Cat looks incredible.
Absolutely unreal, this is a masterwork of craftsmanship.

Ohh that's cool! what an adventure to be onboard aircraft carrier! Let us know some more details if you can please!
Beautiful work on one of my favorite aircrafts. Well executed details.
Stunning
Very Impressive work.

W😮W, what a AMAZING & OUTSTANDING & AWESOME build😊

Hey, thanks for the nice words !
What a beauty.
That level of detail is just beyond insane! Now I know why I stick to Lego I do not have the skill or the patience to do that. Massive props!!!
Than you!
That looks amazing, I have recently bought the same kit….so I purchased your 3d printed cockpit bits today !
Great job very beautiful plane all liked the F-14 tomcat👍👍👍😎
Congrats, a stunning build!
SOooo much better than wash slapped on and an exhaust streak brushed on! Beautiful!! Question: why are canopies not aged and weathered too? Everybody I've watched seems to clear coat them and leave them factory fresh regardless of what they do to the rest of the model.
Don't know who is clear coating canopies and how but canopy on the aircraft is usually cleaned.
Just starting out and I've been on a modeling video binge for a week now. The gloss coat of choice for canopies seems to be Pledge.
Amazing work well done
Worth the wait! Loving it!
Fantastic work. Very nice build
Awesome work!
Excellent work. Incredible quality and very well explained
Absolutely incredible. This is the best F-14 build on RUclips for sure. Unbelievable attention to detail . Wow.
Thank you!
To me, there wasn't any aircraft as beautiful and cool lookin than the F-14 Tomcat
Truth!
