To be honest...this was the most impressive modelling I have ever seen. Most times I just skip the whole thing and go for final shootings.I am impressed with all the skill involved and I usually dont get easilly impressed ( being a modeller for almost 40 years). A very good job indeed! My hat is off for you!
Nice job. Used to work with this squadron on the USS Ranger (CV-61). Was really sad when they retired this plane.
Michael Henry yeah it's so sad that they retired this plane so early. heard that the f-14 had frequent problems and the maintenance cost was too high

Yep, I was doing it all wrong when I was a boy:) Use to love making models on rainy days but had no patience to let things dry properly. Well done it looks awesome!

Excellent. Two things: Its not rivets its screws, rivets will be under the paint and you wont see them. The heat exchanger exhaust is dark grey. They dont get painted, instead they are covered in solid film lubricant.
13:25 Also the model is messed up, the formation lights are flush, they dont stick out like that.

It took about 80 hours.
@@TAKEOFFModels 80!? My tamiya 1/72 f16C is Close to finishing and in total it's like 7/10 hours of building, painting, weathering, adding decals...

Hello ! Thanks for the video. Why did you paint the whole cockpit black? On my model of f14d at 1/32 (trumpeter), I have to paint the cockpit gray (h317-mr hobby). Thank you for your response
I painted it with reference to "Uncovering the Grumman F-14 A/B/D Tomcat"

Try painting instrument buttons with a toothpick!
That said, the kit seems to have a near perfect fit!

I absolutely love your modelling excellent work you are very talented artist thank you for sharing, your approach to weathering is pretty much in line with my own i look at it as a part of the detail process or detail painting and nothing more nothing less i have a couple questions about the equipment, are you using one Iwata airbrush for all your media or one for each and also have you tried the IPP acrylics if not what are you doing for ventilation? Again thank you for sharing.
I use Iwata 0.3mm airbrush in all my paint works. IPP is lacquer paint and does not have acrylic paint. I use my own spray booth for ventilation and the picture is on the Community tab.

When painting instrument panels, do you reference photos, or just decide the button colors on a whim? Also, I'd really like to see you do a Macross Valkyrie kit. Either Roy Fokker or Max.

I used a mixture of clear green and clear blue in a 1: 1 ratio.

What was the purpose of cutting that swapwing rods? didn't understand.
This kit selects and fixes one of three angles of the variable wing. I modified it so that its angle can be changed freely.
지금 도색하고 있는 색상은 경우는 설명서에 나와 있는대로 도색을 하는건가요? 아니면 개인취향에 맞게 색을 임의로 지정해서 칠하는 건가요? 예를들어 본체 기체가 그레이 색인데 거기에 하얀색비슷한 도료를 섞어서 그레이와 하얀색이 섞여서 실제 전투기에서 나오는 색감을 표현하신 것 같은데 제가 생각한것이 맞나요? 그리고 이렇게 하는것은 설명서에도 나와있나요?
그리고 먹선 넣는 과정에서 불필요한 부분을 지울때는 어떻게 지우는지 알고싶습니다! 예를들어 신너를 사용해서 닦아 낸다던지 물을 사용한다던지..
일단 설명서에는 지정색과 도색가이드가 있을 뿐 도색방법이 나오지는 않습니다 제 경우 기본적으로 지정색을 사용하지만 사진등 레퍼런스를 참고해서 조색하기도 합니다 흰색을 조금 섞은 것은 기본색보다 조금 밝은 색으로 얼룩등을 표현한 것이고 먹선을 지울 때는 도료특성에 따라 다 다릅니다 에나멜도료의 경우 에나멜 신너를 묻혀서 지우고 몇몇 메이커에서 나오는 패널라이너의 경우 마른 면봉으로 지울 수도 있고 에나멜 신너를 묻혀 지울 수도 있습니다 또 유화의 경우도 마찬가지로 마른 것이나 신너를 묻힌 것 둘다 사용할 수 있습니다
도료에 따라서 그리고 표현하고자 하는 정도에 따라 취사선택하는 것 입니다

Did you have fit issues around the burner cans? Mine were so off that I shelved the model. My skills aren't strong enough yet to fix the massive difference in size between the 2 pieces.
In my case, the fit of the upper and lower parts of the fuselage were more problematic than the burner cans.
How to fix the fit issues, may I ask? Is the fitting that bad?
@@taygerwyn5089 its bad in some areas. The intake ramps on mine were pretty bad, required a lot of dremmel shaving and cutting, the intakes themselves fitting to the upper fusalage, the burner can housing as I asked above, the nose assembly attaching to the upper fusalage half. In my opinion, if you don't want the bells and whistles stick with the Tamiya kit. The AMK obviously has a ton of potential, but its going to take a lot of time fixing the issues.
