    It's interesting that in this season of the Crown--if I'm remembering correctly--Princess Anne, Princess Margaret, and Camilla P-B all mention at one point or another how impossible it was to compete with Diana. Even more interesting, the only two older women who didn't seem to feel any jealousy at all were the Queen herself and PM Thatcher, maybe because each felt secure in her own sphere of power and influence.

      That's basic female social dynamics. If you're on the same level as everyone else as a woman you're not supposed to outshine everyone else because you're percieved as a threat to everyone else. That was evolutionary selected by the way because when the whole tribe was killed and the women were taken and now in a strange new social group, the best thing they could do is present to each other as being nonthreatening. You can see this with female groups were they are friends with people who are about as attractive as they are, never with someone who is more attractive then them because that is a threat.

      @@happycommuter3523 they didn’t need to “compete” with Diana. And Diana, probably want “competing” with anyone until things got “nasty.”
      And dare I mention it ? Whether anyone h8 or like PH, I do not believe he has previously been trying to compete with PW, his older and better loooking older brother!
      My childhood bestie (from before we began kindergarten!) I arrived at adulthood at around age 19 or so, to realize she was jealous of me and competing and I had no idea why. She was pretty, family more well-off, she always had more, smarter or better grades comes easier, more boys etc. I wasn’t jealous or competing with her. Now we are both nearly old enough to retire (I have not seen her in 40 yrs.) I still cannot understand why she was jealous of me and competing. I was her loyal, faithful and oldest friend. Being jealous of absolutely nothing!
      Imaging a handsome (no longer handsome) crown prince (PW) as a boy being “jealous” of his awkward-looking little brother! It makes absolutely no sense!
      Like Edmond Dantes in The Count of Monte Cristo being the object of an elaborate plot by a man who has so much more than Edmond! I am not painting myself as Edmond Dantes nor PH, but jealousy is just weird and makes no sense! Being jealous when they already gave everything anyone could wish for!

      It may have nothing to do with the supposed competitors. The journalists need to make up conflict so that they have something to talk about. There's always one saint and one sinner, so that we have something to exercise our moral sensibilities on. That may be a professional artifice that appeals to something psychological in the beholder: the mechanisms of splitting and projection, recognisable by the strength of emotion elicited.

    • @rainyvideos3684
      @rainyvideos3684 7 дней назад

      @@hi-ls6lt I'm quoting evolutionary pyschology and the evolutionary pyschologist I'm quoting for what I said is a woman. I doubt the woman who has studied this field her whole life is wrong just because you grew up in a house of women. That's great that you don't see that. But also consider that since you all are famialy related, you should see each othr as a threat. Think of how disadvantagous that would be from an evolutionary perspective.
      Now there's also a reason for this. You have to go way back when we were tribal and your tribe lost. All the men were killed and the women were of course taken captive. What do you think the women of the losing tribe did? They are in a new and strange social group were they don't know anyone. That's right, they all tried to show they were not a threat to any of the other women. Any that tried to be a wonder woman probably died.
      But you can also see it on womens sports teams. The best player is the most hated member of the sports team because she is so more skilled then all the other players and we know women prefer things to be equitable socially. To everyone else, the best player on their sports team is a threat. Compare that to men's sports teams, the most popular player also tends to be the most skilled and best player and they build the team around him (like Tom Brady for example)) and he also tries to help the rest of the team be better. We also know that women in a sports team would rather lose a game then win it if not everyone gets a chance to play.
      You can also use your eyeballs to test this too. Look at all female friend groups, they tend to be all the same level of attractiveness to each other. Why? Because no one is a greater threat to their own mate selection and that is always a competition between individuals. Or even with dating advice where women might try to sabotage each other to try either try to get the (same) man that they are after OR simpy because by giving out bad advice to their competition it increases their competitveness for mate selection by (obviously) sabotaging their competition.

    I remember the flack she got - 'horsey', 'frumpy'. She and 'Foggy Phillips' never got the lickings of a dog.
    She wasn't even categorised as 'the spare'. Her younger brothers were perceived as being of more consequence.

      I'm not sure she was so much jealous of Diana as feeling invisible in a public sphere where Diana's every move was newsroom fodder. Anne, as a princess in her own right, was historically expected not to be as busy with her charity work as she was, but instead to move to the background as a wife and mother and let her brothers and their wives shine. However, a) Anne was more keen than even she'd admit to do her work on what she cared about and b) the scandals surrounding her sisters-in-law put the state of her own marriage under a microscope and found it in trouble, particularly since her husband was getting away with his own cheating but her liaison with Peter Cross was somehow the one being reported on.

      No, but if they have, it's because Anne handled herself with discretion and class and didn't land on every magazine cover or in every interview chair to talk about the state of her marriage or her troubles. She just kept her head down and kept working/staying out of the limelight. Eventually, her brothers made such public spectacles of themselves and their marriages that it was easy for her indiscretion to fall by the wayside. She should probably thank Charles and Andrew for making such huge productions of themselves, allowing her to be mostly left in peace. LOL Anne has never had any use for the press, therefore she didn't take the bait when asked about the state of her marriage or anything else.
