I must agree..it was also clever from the standpoint that in the moment she was mummy b/c royalty or commoner, that is the same stance my mother would have taken and told me "You have known me all your life, so you knew when you sent me the invite, that I would not be attending & why ".

She knows he’s there to pester her about attending a party 🎉 they both well-know she does not wish to attend.
He knew his mother didn’t wish to attend this party when he sent the invite, AND most likely when she saw the invitation, was annoyed he sent it bec she knows her stance on the issue.

@@kittykatz4001 I would agree, my mother would have looked me right in the eyes and said "Let's not play games with each other, you knew I was not coming when you sent the invite."...I have always gotten the impression that the NEVER shared a warm/traditional relationship with any of her children ("Stiff upper lip ya know"). It was noted many times in the media that Diana shared a very traditional relationship with her sons (She showed them public affection). However, it's also fair to note that the queen was reared that way from a young girl, and shared the same type of relationship with her parents!!!

@@1elsueShe is evil. She really did “plot” against Diana and later, Ch “ 2:21 empowered” her to throw HIS son H, under the bus to the media for yrs in order to 1) curry her own public favorable treatment from the media and; 2) exchange H as a “sacrifice” to the media in order to use H as a literal “ shield “ 🛡️ her own children and grandchildren from the press. Charles let her do this. This has been going on BEFORE he married Meg.
This strategy has worked bec the media largely leaves Andrew Parker-Bowles “lineage” alone, as well as APB, himself.
Just as H said there is an “unwritten” contract btwn the RF and the media, I think C had an agreement with APB as well. At minimum, Charles “owes” APB for remaining married to C to give He (Charles) and C “cover” while they conducted their affair.

Because all had been private before that call between Charles and Camilla was leaked, and she had to change the laws of the Church of England for Charles to get married with Camilla.
England was and is a conservative country and Diana was the Princess of the People, she was deeply popular and loved by the people of England, so the public sided with her during the divorce.

It’s not her being loyal to Diana. She’s being loyal to her faith which looks down on divorce. The fact that C&C split up 2 families as well only adds more good logical points to the queens side of the debate. Divorce hurts people, it hurts those who have been cheated on, it hurts the children and her going to support Camilla would show she supports the selfish actions that hurt her grandsons.

Realizing I might be the only person who sees it this way, but this scene made me feel sorry for Charles. He was raised by nannies, and presented to his parents twice a day, and his mother shows more interest in her dogs than in her children. Really doesn’t show the Queen in a good light.
Don’t get me wrong- I loved Diana and truly believe she got a raw deal from Charles but this scene may show why he is the way he is.
