Starscream being voiced by Steve Blum and being an authority no one takes seriously is very Transformers Prime-y.
9:32 has to without a doubt be one of the funniest dialogue exchanges.
Crowbar legit goes “you could’ve just sent me a comm” and is more pissed about being jumpscared just having no respect towards starscream in the slightest. Mixed with starscream bitching back to him it’s so funny.
I'd be just as frustrated with Crowbar, Crowbar's being a total ass
I love Crowbar and Starscream's interaction so much. Starscream scares the shit out of Crowbar and the whole time Starscream is trying to deliver vital mission info Crowbar is still caught up on the fact that Starscream jumpscared him for no reason.

I loved those games, they were so good and I remember you could play as a ton of characters, and it's the only time we see grimlock before he gets his dino mode on that universe
And sadly Activision and Hasbro had to be dicks and pulled the rights away from them preventing them making there 3rd game

I skipped this one, due to Screamer and Shockwave being non-playable, despite the latter being on the box. So it's cool to see an in-depth review of it.
_Technically_ that's RotF Lockdown, based on the toy that came out between the films, which was in turn based on the Animated version. The figure does the same "Average sized car becomes massive robot" think the Animated toy does. Definitely better than the AoE one.
Looking forward to the WFC DS games, those were a huge part of my childhood.
10:32 Another fun note is that Steves' voice for the custom character in the first game would be reused for Heatwave in Transformers: Rescue Bots.

Bayverse shockwave feels like he was characterised by his name alone and not his actual profession of being a scientist lol
Shockwave doesn't have to be a scientist. He wasn't one in Marvel comics which started earlier than the cartoon, nor in Energon where he was called Shockblast due to Hasbro briefly loosing the rights to his original name. Bayverse version is simply based on those.
@@genyakozlov1316 He had the role of assasain and mole in animated, which came out a bit earlier than the movie version.
@@genyakozlov1316 G1 cartoon didn't have him as a scientist either, he kept the same job of "Military Operations Commander" from the comics and ruled Cybertron. The scientist thing is actually pretty new.
He also wasn't originally loyal to Megatron, so the Bayverse Shockwave is actually closer to the original Marvel version.

If we had like a remaster trilogy of all these games that would be awesome. They could make new story's for the 2nd and 3rd game and make them open world somehow. Unfortunately we haven't had new action based transformer games in years.
Hell, why not take it a step further? How about a game based on all five Michael Bay Transformers films, with both factions being playable and having their own storylines? There would be a lot for the creators to put in there, but that translates to a lot of content in the game for players to have fun with (and that's just the campaign mode). Yeah, the last two films weren't well received for obvious reasons, but then again the film series in general wasn't either.
The dialogue between Megatron and Ironhide sounds exactly like an argument on Discord.
Also, recently the console versions of the first game have been getting some attention after pieces of some scrapped content were found. There was a lot that was scrapped that would've made those versions legendary.
Oh? I haven't heard anything about the console version. What kind of things were scrapped?
@@PrimalGoat Deleted voice lines, characters, an entire level (which you can see on the channel Game Hut) and more.
@@PrimalGoat Pretty much what Protosilver said: some characters (Shockwave, Bonecrusher, Brawl and Ratchet) and the ability to switch out characters, there was supposed to be a system where Ratchet (no idea if Decepticons had any equivalent) heals you in battles, there was originally supposed to be a "tag team" system where the AI would fight with you and there were also "special abilities" (like the thing the AI bosses do) that the grunts and player could've done. A few levels were scrapped but the biggest is the exterior Hoover Dam which also had a Bonecrusher and Megatron boss/Bumblebee and Optimus for Decepticons. The level is in some console files with some dialogue and some mods have added it back in. The Megatron boss there definitely makes up for the lackluster one we got.
The final Autobot level was also supposed to have you fight Starscream and Blackout in addition to Megatron. The dialogue for this event is still in the files in some versions and fully voiced.
That bit with Radio silence being asked by Soundwave always made me laugh. TFP Starscream is the best one imo.
In the Revenge of the fallen toyline Lockdown had a figure which I had that looked like the animated version, and I like how the model for him in this game is exactly how that figure looked, like they based it on that and couldn't be asked to change it at all.
You should cover Transformers war for cybertron deceptions ds, its a very good game in my opinion, i still have yet to get the autobots version.
It's basically the same minus the missions and some exclusive bots

My theory:
Maybe Chapter 3 and 5 got mixed and switched missions, which explained Optimus boss fight on Chapter 3 which should've been on Chapter 5.

I actually played this game I didn't hate it as such I respect your opinion. And I definitely agree that there should have been more of a roster and to be honest they didn't even need to change anything else about it they could have just added Starscream and Shockwave as "Congratulations, you beat the game " characters and with these characters there are new things to find throughout the levels to add some replayability.
I love how Starscream in this game has the same voice and Transformers Prime Starscream

That's the Lockdown from Hunt for the Decepticons, the toy line right after ROFT. It is kinda different from the Animated version but it was clearly inspired by that design. There's a mini-chapter in the Cyber missions in which he steals a weapon from Ratchet just like in the animated one. If all that falls into the weird canon of the Transformers movies that is why Lockdown personally kills Ratchet at the beginning of Age of Extinction.
Every transformer game on the ds since the first two, I hate that they got rid of the open world, both ROTF and DOTM would have been so much better with a free roam 😏
Did you know there is a 3DS version of the Wii game (Transformers Dark of the Moon: Stealth Force Edition) and Rise of the Dark Spark? They are both movie games (specially the former).

You could also talk about Stealth Force edition for the 3DS. Despite not having robot modes, it's actually pretty fun imo

Lockdown is actually based on the ROTF NEST toy, which itself is based on Transformers Animated. I'm assuming they chose him to have another land vehicle Decepticon since there's very few by the time DOTM comes around. A few things that always bugged me about the game though is how in the middle of the game, you play as either Lockdown or Crowbar for several missions straight, and the fact that you fight Ironhide three times. Every other boss is once.
I think the basic game play is fine, like you said it's a decent road trip DS game, just kinda lame after awhile with not a ton of replay value.
another game on the ds that i believe to be criminally underrated would be magical starsign and i honestly believe you should review it as it would be a fun game and show others how barey anyone knows of it

Each stage is open world and requires exploration to find secrets
More Collectibles
More Different Characters and Shockwave when you beat the game
Actual Boss cutscenes when you encounter them
Different Weapon Variety: Heavy, Medium, and Light weapons
Leaked test footage of Optimus primes fight in the upcoming movie age of extinction 13:22.
Edit: also slight detail this lockdown is actually based off of the revenge of the fallen Lockdown toy they released I am pretty sure.
I never hated the 3rd game, or even the 2nd game. But I didn't like either of the sequels as much as the 1st game. For several reasons that I've mentioned already in previous comments from the other videos you've made about the Transformers DS games, so I'm not gonna go into detail about it this time.
Now, I do remember liking the 3rd one a little, but I don't remember to what extent though. I might try revisiting the 3rd game at some point, to see what I think of it now.
Anyway, this was a good review! And even though I myself didn't much care for the 3rd game, I'm still glad that you enjoyed it!
This is the only transformers game for the ds that i owned. I actually remember that it came with a hotwheels type toy.

When I was 5 I used to go to this arcade center and play a gundam shooting game were it was the exact same as this, yo press start, wacth a cutscene you don't care about and boom, you are shooting other robots one by one, it also had another arcade just on the side, so a 2nd player could join in and fight you at any time, the models, graphics and gameplay of this DS game really reminded me of that gundam game, I wanna give this a try...
With that said, I really feel let down when you revealed the final boss and It wasn't shockwave, what a way to build so much hype just to throw it all away, but at least now I won't feel dissapointed.

I only just realised that the model for crowbar is actually baded on his cyberverse legends toy, where he is a police cruiser instead of the police suv he and the other dreads sported in the movie
This game was so far removed from my brain but when I started the video I remember playing it and being disappointed wanting to play as shockwave in the game since he was my favorite guy from dark of the moon and war for cybertron. I wish he would of been in one mission atleast
I have the autobots version of this game… I loved transformers at the time so I viewed this game with rose tinted lenses… nowadays they are a bit less impressive, but I still like it

If i remember correctly, besides the Wii version, the console versions the boss you fight as Megatron are Warpath and Optimus, the final boss of the game is Optimus vs Shockwave
for ds games, use a controller and mouse at the same time, what i do is hold my controller with my left hand which gives control over the L1,L2,L3,Dpad left stick and select, which you can bind easily to use pretty much all of the ds buttons, and then i just use the mouse for the touch screen stuff, I played Dementium emulated like this as well as a few others and its really good

Ironhide beating megatron makes a lot of sense why he was executed in dotm now
I loved this game
I still have this game in possession today, mater of fact I have both versions. I enjoyed the decepticons more purely because I like them more than autobots and Megatron's tank cannon is OP. Trying to find all the secrets was awesome and I think they were hidden really well, at for my 11 year old self. Overall 7/10 banger game for the series.
P.S. stunlocking with melee was the go to strat for most of the fights.

Slight correction about Lockdown - this TECHNICALLY isn't the Animated one, but rather a moviefied version of that design for the toyline.
I enjoyed the little fun fact about the starscream voice actor, as I'm especially fond of transformers as far as the DS Games

I remember winning Transformers Autobots for 3 dollars on an eBay action that only had 5 minutes left on it 4 years ago on a whim because I wanted to play a Transformers game with Jazz in it and I had a DS. Honestly one of the best things I ever bought.
Anyway when it comes to Transformers Autobots DoTM I played it on the Transformers Autobots Ultimate Collection cart which had the Rotf and Dotm games on it. I remember really not liking it, but I also 100% it, so maybe it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. I’ve been wanting to replay it recently because you can play as Dino/Mirage and I got the Studio Series figure of him (it’s great). Maybe after seeing this video I’ll like it more on my second play though.
Also Toys R Us released special boxed versions of these games with redecoed Speed Stars cars. Bumblebee for Autobots and Lockdown for Decepticons. Apparently versions of those sets that were preordered from Target (but the TFwiki claims it’s Toys R Us) feature different skins for Lockdown and Bumblebee (sites call it “inverted Bumblebee”). Kinda makes me want to find and buy them.
Personally while I loved the first game and it's replay ability and the seconds fast action and tight combat with a lot of different weapons I felt like this one was a slog to get through. (I had the autobots version) I hated the controls in this one the fact that movement is basically useless in a fight as you can't actually dodge anything, the fact you can't explore and find any secrets, there's no custom character, the story is basically non existent, and the game just feels like they didn't care about it but more power to you for enjoying it.
Also I do agree that I don't hate any of the games actually am fine with all of them.
Also I think ROTF was actually really good but that's just my opinion.

They did transformers ds games dirty. I do remember saw this game on a magazine and decided to buy it for ds since the screenshot looks amazing. But boy oh boy, the screenshot are from the xbox platform, not the ds platform
