Hello, hope you're able to see this. I am so confused on regular 3rd gen stick up cam vs the new elite. If regular cam is compatible with POE when the new Elite is marketed as POE cam?
Hey, what would you recommend. I just need 1 outdoor camera that pans around and stores to a SD card. Non cloud. I also want to make sure you can wirelessly access any video recorded with my phone. So just buy 1 time and access the videos free. Is there a cam that does that or are they all gimped so you buy the cloud packages ?
@lifehackster is there an optical zoom camera where you can utilize the optical zoom feature on a recording? I can't find any info and only see digital zooms on recording.

Greetings from Finland! Could you please tell us which of the two cameras has a longer detection range for cars and humans: Reolink Trackmix (the battery version) or Eufy Solocam S340? Thank you in advance for your response, and keep up the great work!
One note about the Eufy PTZ camera, when doing my research, is that it doesn’t seem to support RTSP streams for integrating into a NAS surveillance station. I ended up going with the Reolink, but would you be able to confirm that in your comparison?
Thanks for awesome videos as always. I am focusing on getting Eufy S330 but wondering if i install them outdoor can they be damaged due to hailstorms even though they are IP67 ? To get best overall view on the front of my house I will have to install it in an area that is not covered on the top to protect the camera from being hit by hails so concerned about it a bit. Any thoughts ?
I know this isn't what you asked (lol), but Eufy got into some hot water last year regarding their video 'encryption', which they've apparently fixed now. Just thought I'd mention it since encryption is a big selling point for Eufy. I planned on buying one of their cams until I saw that.
Of the ones mentioned, whick ones have a setting for motion/activity zones? This in my opinion, is a feature I love as a can set to only get notified when motion is detected within a zone I set

If you were going to build a security camera system where the requirements are NVR, POE, and wireless cameras (where POE cannot be used) that can record to the NVR, which system would you use? Today, I have Lilin cameras (super old) and NVR and Eufy Homebase 3 with 3 wireless cameras and doorbell. I would love to consolidate everything into one system. Happy Thanksgiving.

Hello, I would like to get 2 outdoor wireless cameras for my rental property which is about an hour from where I live. I watched your video on Blink, but the subscription part put me off. What would you recommend for me? Should I Just get the synch module for Blink? II have a lot of SD cards and usb sticks so that would be better for me. I'm having a hard time deciding. Thank you!

Nice Video. I got the blink outdoor 4 generation 2 camera setup on Amazon for $99. So I saved $99. I watched your video on the blink outdoor 4 generation camera. I would of bought a different camera setup but I think this will suit my needs.

Do you know of any good wireless cams that have a solar panel that can be moved away from the camera for better light capture?
So we have a camera but there is not night vision unless a car light points against a window and glare/reflection from the window if sunlight shines on it or at night. But our camera works (recording everything) when WIFI is turned off for 24/7, can zoom in/out, etc. We wanted to know which was best the Eufy C24 or Wyze OG for night vision, facial recognition, no subscriptions with SD card, etc if wifi is turned off will it still record the entire time while at the window? Do you have to buy anything else required for it to work like a monitor? Great video.

does Unifi Protect have the feature to record when sound is detected? If so, how do I access this feature?
I'm building a new house and installing a Reolink NVR camera system to the indoor ceilings throughout the house. What I've found is most mounted cameras and reviews focus on outdoor cameras or desk placed indoor cameras only. I can't seem to find any reviews that focus on which (Reolink) cameras are best for ceiling mounted indoor use. I ended up buying 4 RLC-820a cameras because of their dome shape, although their a bit big are these an OK choice for an indoor ceiling mounted camera? Cheers.

Hi LifeHackster, does the Blink Outdoor 4 record footage during a power outage? I know it needs to be connected to the sync module for local storage which needs to be plugged in, I am thinking of getting a Blink outdoor since it's on sale. Thanks!!
As long as the sync module is powered, it should record to it when local storage is setup but if it records to the cloud, then your router also need to have power.
Just as an aside if all power goes out the blink cameras will store one event each and upload them to the cloud or sync module when the power comes back

Mr. Hackster, what's your favorite dashcam? Looking for a good BF deal on a dashcam with a Starvis 2 sensor.
I am currently testing the Viofo A129 PRO and they also have the plus and both have Starvis 2. But the Viofo A139 PRO and also the Vantrue N4 Pro are pretty good choices.

Sorry for asking but I don't get movement notifications on my smartphone. Are the cameras all online or I think I have to reconnect them with the Ethernet cable to solve the problem? A thousand thanks
It might have something to do with your phone. Restart it and see and check the notifications settings of the app as well.
Great videos. What is the absolute best night and day POE Camera that has an App that is actually good. Regardless of price? Your REOLINK cx410 caught my eye but I dont understand why they didnt release it in 4K.......Is this going to be your favorite camera of 2023? I just bought a new house and I need to get cameras like asap. I want the best of the best...Im willing to spend a few hundred dollars per camera unless the REOLINK cx410 is pretty much the best out there now?
Yes, the CX410 is a 2K camera and I realized it is more than enough for perimeter monitoring of your property. You might to look at lowlight cams of Dahua and Hikvision which are pricier and I'm not even sure if they have their own apps. Also, check out Lorex, its app is decent. I still like Reolinks though.
What hard drive would you recommend for the home base 3?

I have a couple 410-5MP, 510, 520, B800, and 810A cameras.
Recently replaced 4 of them with 833As and couldn't be happier.
Will replace 3 more with the 833A, and for the last camera I'm hoping a wider non-Duo camera comes out in the future.
Are there any in window cams that can tranmit to blue iris or an nvr?
The ones that have window mounts are Wyze and Eufy and they cannot record to an NVR.

The thing about Lorex is they have a lot of NVR models and cameras and some will only work with a specific NVR or camera.
The REOLINK cx410 is better than the 4k (8mp) cameras? Or just at night?

Mostly at night but it can compete with 4K cams also in daytime.

Why don’t you get into using HomeBridge or Scrypted to run your cameras? You can self host your own NVR and mix and match different cameras that you like. You may pay a bit more upfront but you have more flexibility and freedom.

Turn off the camera's IR and just have some better lighting outside. I made multiple videos on camera in window setup that you can watch.
Does someone knows how to hide the red lights on a camera without turning off the IR LEDs by night? My cameras are like a christmas tree visible from 2 miles away... Maybe a filter or something like that?

I guess you are asking about ethernet splitters. I think the most are 2 cams in 1 ethernet cable but I haven't tested this yet.

Without going into details of how router and switches work, just think of the extra switch as an extension cord. Plug your cat cable from the recorder to the poe switch and then plug in as many cameras as you have plugs. Each camera has its own address and the cable from the recorder to the poe switch that you add acts like a highway for the signal to travel. Yell back if you want more details.@@gamerstar7832

Eufy released their dual lens 4K indoor cam S350 but I personally think 4K resolution is an overkill for an indoor cam and because of its price, not really my favorite.

It is known about lion batteries that they do not like minuses temperatures, where they die quickly. How then can these battery cameras work at -20°C for example? The battery will be dead soon I guess.
Pare-can you add some commentary on your thoughts about the several security incidents Wyze has had over the last few months and if that was considered in your recommendations? Long time Wyze user, but considering jumping. Their race to the bottom strategy clearly has sacrificed their integrity, imo.

I picked up a Tapo C120 after seeing your review the other day and set it up tonight after work. Not a bad camera and I'll be likely replacing most of my wyze stuff with them. The starlight sensor isn't bad but not as good as the ones in the Wyze V3. The color of the C120 is better but the image is a lot darker than the V3. It may be because I quickly installed it tonight as it was getting dark and noticed it is seeing part of the soffit under the eaves which may be throwing the sensor off. Need to adjust it a bit. The lack of rich notifications kinda sucks and as much as I loathe subscriptions I'll probably pay the 35 bucks a year for their service if I switch. I did notice one oddity though. You can't have an active Tapo Care subscription, local mSD recording, and RTSP enabled at the same time. I realize I'm probably in a very tiny minority of users who would want all three but it'd be nice.

I have had noting but problems with my Eufy system, so I would steer clear of buying any of their products. The big issue is they work fine until the warranty expires, and then they go all to hell! Also their support doesn’t do a thing and could care less since it’s out of warranty. Anyone else have these issues?
Cameras work great in the location, and then stop working a year or so later. Now the home base stopped working/connecting. It’s just great for a security system to not work 90 percent of the time😡

Sorry, but I stopped using Wyze and switched to another brand. They have had way too many security issues lately. I am not going to use them anymore.
NO camera has color night vision. A spot light is not night vison. IR is night vision without color. Light is a must have for color. If your camera has a light it can be seen.
Play of words..that is what companies advertise their products for...so complain to them.

Blink sucks. Was forced to switch to their new cameras that required a sub after a year. Not to mention that their old cameras worked a lot better. People need to stop falling for these subscription scams or even our cars will need a sub to even start the engine.
