That's super cool. I love how you took a shed and made it a mini home. That's been one of my.goals in life honestly. Glad to see you making videos again. I missed seeing your videos pop up.
This is a perfect idea! Im pretty sure they will appreciate it alot more once they start making memories with friends and hanging out inside...I would have loved a place like this to hang out with my friends, have some quiet time to just think and listen to my music and just get lost. Kids today need something cool like this to hang out and for us paranoid parents we will know exactly what and whr our teenagers are at all times. I would also store a small camera or nanny cam somewhere not noticeable inside so I could keep a eye on the kiddos/teens while they are hanging out. I have teenagers myself and they would love something like this so I might be talking to my hubby about buying one and creating a hangout cave 4 mine. My hubby is an Electrician and he is very talented and has the skills to create and build anything he puts his mind too.
Thanks!! I was just over there using it this weekend. I love the little cabin. I did put in a ceiling fan that I leave running on low. It keeps the air moving and works really well.
Wow, if you can't wash a few dishes by hand you probably shouldn't be out in that cabin alone. It's a hunting cabin, he isn't living there. He takes his dirty clothes home with him to his real house.
My fiancé and I want to do something like this so bad. :( Your cabin is absolutely beautiful sir. I just came from your camping 101 video. We were thinking about buying a small patch of land and building a small cabin or a tiny house.
Thanks!! I love it. I’m going over to put in an air conditioner this weekend. All the best finishing out one of these. They definitely won’t be disappointed.
One thing I like about your cabin is you put the bathroom light switch outside so someone sitting on the toilet taking a crap or taking a shower you can shut the light off on them
🤣😂🤣. You are the first to catch that. I almost spit out my coffee when I read your comment!!! What happened is that I brought the wire down for a light switch to be in the bathroom. I got to worrying about it being almost in the shower so I brought it out and placed the box facing the kitchen area. It would definitely get really dark in there with the light out!
This is very cool 😎 I enjoyed it. And for electrical I see the 30 amps is perfect. Maybe one day you can do a video of installing a garbage disposal too. I had fun watching the video. Now I see what we can do to any basic shed😁😁😁😁
Thanks! I am really enjoying the tiny house shed. The electrical is actually 60 amps (30 amps on each circuit). I could have got away with less but I’ve got that electric water heater. Garbage disposal would be nice 😂
Awesome! He will love it. I’ve used mine last summer and this past hunting season. I installed one of those very small window unit A/C for the hot summer and the little heater is more than enough even down into the teens. Have fun finishing it out and if you have questions, let us know.
Love this video! Thank you so much for all of the detail. I admit I am a rookie at this, so I have lots of beginner questions. I would be using this as a home not a weekend cabin. How do you prepare the land for a shed? What is the foundation made of? Do you contact each utility (water, sewer, and electricity) to put on the property? Can you do solar? Can you put in a mini split? Can you put in a tankless hot water heater? I'm in Arizona. Is there an email I can reach out to you?
Hi. Thanks for your kind comments. I think you could definitely live in something like this tiny cabin full time with just a few small changes. Mainly with storage for things like clothes. Land preparation is simply a close to level area. The shed is built on “runners”. When it is delivered they will place some type of support (usually concrete blocks) under these runners. I then supported the outside walls every 8ft with adjustable jacks. You can definitely do solar, mini split and tankless water heater. Send me an email to useful.knowledge.tv@gmail.com and I’ll do my be to go over your other questions.
Hey Jamie!! I’m newer here and love the content! Are u looking for a roomie?? 😂😂 I love everything about the tiny cabin and the awesome recipes for dandelion jelly!
😂😂. My wife would probably not be cool with me having a roomie 🤣. Thanks for the kind comments. I love that tiny cabin. I spent last weekend in it because we were planting at the hunting club. Thanks!
Thanks!! I just spent the past two days at the cabin. It’s been great for the past three years. I just helped a buddy of mine build a similar one. I bought my storage building (the one in the video) for $4k and spent around $3.5k finishing it out.
Hi. I set it up to work just like a regular house toilet (which it is). The property where the tiny cabin is located had an existing septic system that I connected to.
Hi. I definitely agree about CO. I’m as paranoid as they come about heaters. I saw what can happen when I was younger. No one died but one family member passed out and folks had horrible headaches before the issue was figured out. With that said, todays blue flame and infrared heaters that are designed for interiors are vent free and have oxygen depletion sensors that will turn off the heater before oxygen levels are unsafe. I also have a CO sensor just across from my bed.
Great video, I've actually been thinking about doing something similar with a galvanized steel 19x8½ storage shed. I just don't know if that would be large enough for a house to live in full time.
Hi. If memory serves me well, the actual livable space in my tiny cabin is about 17’5” x 9’5”. I use it as a hunting cabin but I did have to quarantine there for over a week due to a COVID exposure. I think I could live in it but if I was going to be in it everyday I would install a vent in the kitchen area. This would vent cooking smells to the outside.
I have a 10x20 that am trying to fix up for a office or shop. Looks good I put walls up like you did are you going to paint the walls or cover them at some point.
I never thought of using an rv electrical hook up! So, question. Is there a way to use that 50 Amp box without actual electricity?? If i use a 2000amp generator how could i hook up a power box in my home?? I am 100% off grid.
Absolutely. I have a generator in my garage that will run the tiny cabin. I wired the plug straight into the box practically like I wired my house with a service entrance cable. The generator just needs to be large enough to power what you want to run. If you are not familiar with wiring, get someone that knows how to wire just to be safe.
How did you get this through the permitting part of your counties building codes? Another way to ask that would be did you have any trouble with the county approving your build using the shed?
Hi. It’s not a permanent house so it’s treated like an RV at the hunting property. I can move it out of there in a couple hours with a storage building mover. Most rural counties in Alabama don’t require building permits even for houses. I honestly didn’t ask and don’t plan to. 😂
Hi. I really haven’t thought about it in a couple years. I bought the shed for $4k and I finished out the the inside for a little over $3k. That includes the fridge, heater, etc. I love that little cabin. I spend every weekend in it during hunting season.
Not a bad idea at all. I’ve got my tv on the wall now at the tiny cabin. We’ve watched several football games over there this fall. It’s been a makeshift man cave as well as a hunting cabin.
I live in north alabama and looking for land to do a off grid homestead do you know of 1 to 4 acres for sale anywhere? I haven't trouble finding it any suggestions.
Thanks very much! I love this tiny cabin. I was over staying in it last weekend and plan to go tomorrow. I didn’t use any plans. I just drew plans up on a sheet of paper and started finishing the cabin. I have built two houses from the ground up so I’ve got some experience. With that said, even those without building experience can finish out one of these. If you decide to give it a go, feel free to email us with any questions.
@@useful.knowledge I agree on that, however, I was referring to a vapor barrier between the studs and outside sheathing. Moisture will leach in from the outside, soak the insulation and seep through the walls in bad weather. I live in Georgia and when it rains, it rains. You obviously are up north due to the snow.
Oh gotcha. Actually I’m just next to you in north Alabama so I know about that rain and more rain. It just happened to be snowing when we were filming. Since it was prebuilt, the only thing that can be done is to keep the outside painted well. It has a super thick coating of paint from the manufacturer.
@@useful.knowledge understand. If I was going to purchase something such as this I believe I would special order with a vapor barrier installed by the manufacturer and finish as you did. Great job! I am just north of columbus.
Hi. It was built by Yoder’s buildings in Falkville, AL. It had been repossessed after sitting empty for a year so I saved a good bit of $ over a new one.
Hi. $2900 is what it cost for materials last year. It should be a little less now since lumber has come down in cost. I spent nothing on labor because I finished it out myself. I only got about two hours help from a buddy to install the ceiling. I didn’t want paint. I want it to look like a cabin. I can’t still paint it in the future if I change my mind.
That's super cool. I love how you took a shed and made it a mini home. That's been one of my.goals in life honestly. Glad to see you making videos again. I missed seeing your videos pop up.
Hi. Thanks so much for the kind comments!!
Love it! We got one of these sheds and finished it out as a hangout area for our kids.
Hey for some reason I just saw your comment. Kids hangout is a great idea for one of these!! I am definitely enjoying this one.

Best video for hunting cabin. Looking to do this at my farm. Simple but great idea.
Thanks!! I was just over there using it this weekend. I love the little cabin. I did put in a ceiling fan that I leave running on low. It keeps the air moving and works really well.
Great job, as usual, Jamie! It looks just as good as Sharon had told us.
Thanks! She’s trying to take it over. She’s never wanted to go to the hunting camp like she does now 😂
Anxiously awaiting follow up videos. Really enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.
I'd want a portable dishwasher & laundry nearby, but this is really cute
🤣 That’s a great idea! Maybe I need to build a small one with kitchen and laundry only.
Wow, if you can't wash a few dishes by hand you probably shouldn't be out in that cabin alone. It's a hunting cabin, he isn't living there. He takes his dirty clothes home with him to his real house.
Pretty nice. I have a wood burning stove & use the butane heater at night while sleeping. Great job!
Thanks!! Oh yeah I would love to put a wood heater in there.
Looking at a piece of property as this video is out. God Bless, stay safe.

Love this tiny cabin! I need to let my daughter and son in law see this! We all hunt and they need a cabin to put on our land! Great job!
Thanks!! I love it. I’m going over to put in an air conditioner this weekend. All the best finishing out one of these. They definitely won’t be disappointed.

Thanks! I love that cabin. I spent the night over there this weekend.
Very good presentation and craftmanship
Thanks!! I love this tiny cabin.
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing great info

Just a thought...what about a small box fan on the shelf above the heater to move that warm air around?
Hi. Yes that would work. They also make a fan kit for the heater. I woke a few nights too hot. I’m impressed with the little heater.
Thanks so much.

You didn’t show how your toilet works. What did you do for sewage removal?
Hi. I set it up to work just like a regular house toilet (which it is). The property where the tiny cabin is located had an existing septic system that I connected to.
Great little cabin. I would be nervous about the propane gas heater, they need lots of ventilation as they produce carbon monoxide. CO is lethal.

How much was the building permit?

Hi. I have this one at our hunting club property. If I need to move it, it’s going to cost $600. I would check Morgan county outside of Hartselle.
Should we contact a real estate agent in hartselle? Look in their paper? Drive Around over there? It is there a website?
The Somerville area might be a good area to take a look at. There are a real estate agents from Priceville and Hartselle that cover that area.

arent propane heaters not recommended for indoor use?
They’re safe indoors. You just have to purchase the ones rated to indoor use.
Why did you not have a vaper barrier installed?
