An inspiring book with lots of ideas for a variety of garden buildings The instructions are detailed and clear with plenty of photos. My parents were paying over $5,000 monthly for their tiny assisted living apartment. If I remember correctly, had only one bedroom. They moved out of that place and into an apartment with two bedrooms, larger living room and a real kitchen. Plus, it’s much less than the assisted living place. If I had the land I would do a home like this for them. Much respect for this family who are taking care of their parents.

The rest of the finish out was not done by us, so we do not have that cost.
My grandma did that with her garage too and called it the little house! She let anyone in the family live thier if they needed to! I want to do that too!

I am in my sixties, and I can't imagine a better set up for getting older. Being right on her daughter's property is ideal. My daughter doesn't have the back yard to accommodate something like this, but I could absolutely see myself being very happy in this beautiful home.

Yes!! I can’t imagine a sleep area I can barely sit up in. Pointless 😂. That would be a deal breaker for 90% of customers so I’d avoid it at all costs if I were designing or building one

Of all the tiny homes I have seen on YT this is the best one yet and not so tiny that everything is on top of eachother. I love the space and most of all the screened in back porch.

Having the washer dryer outside means the temperature inside is not affected and you don’t have to listen to it, which is great!

I can't remember but I have seen that idea on youtube before, I'm pretty sure it was another couple who converted a shed to a family home and I remember thinking what a good idea that was. If I could have some land with those views I would love a big porch like that with screened windows to protect from bugs and a laundry building would be perfect.

Man! I’m loving this for my mom too!! She doesn’t do stairs very well, my dad is still living, but really, no matter who passes first I think this would be perfect for whoever is left behind. Not a whole lot of space to keep clean, no stairs, perfect. Put it in my backyard so they’re close to me and looks like everyone could really save money too with this kind of set up.

You guys finished that building off very nicely! Now that we are empty nesters my husband & I are looking to downsize while we're still able bodied to do the finishing ourselves. Wow, what a beautiful home... this home is just not for seniors... perfect for a couple... the grounds are magnificent. Just have a couple of suggestions - the back porch needs a door & stairs or ramp so the house has 2 exits in case of a fire and the front porch needs a rail around it so an elderly person doesn’t fall off & it may also need a ramp in the future. Also the outside washer / dryer may need a vent added to the wall attached to the house to give it some heat in the winter, the insulation may not be sufficient to keep the pipes from freezing, especially with a glass door. Overall, great design and a very lovely home!

I absolutely love this, I have been fascinated with tiny homes for years but not sure I would want to go that small but this is plenty big enough, I would add one more room for crafting and the finish everywhere, the front and back porch just stunning! I am not old, only in my fifties although over here in the Uk once you reach your fifties that entitles you to buy property in retirement villages, but I would love this. I just wish it was easier over here to be able to build these types of properties and to afford land to put one on.

Have you guys happened to think about possibly doing an entire neighborhood of these type of homes? I think it would be something worthwhile to look into especially geared toward the seniors in different areas. I think it's absolutely amazing and it would be perfect for me. I love this home I'm 58 year of age and I want to own my home. Cute home, and the washer dryer area is great...probably the best part. Her Son did a fantastic job, even though she said it wasn't good. I would have utilized the vaulted area more, put a loft or some storage. wasted apace.
