For me this would be like living in a mansion. My husband, adult son and I live in a 19x20 building with no bathroom or running water. We do have electricity. Been living this way for 5 years. Was suppose to be MAYBE 2 years to pay property off then build, but life happens and still haven't been able to build. You live the life your given and try to stay positive through it all.

I read the entire Ryan's ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan's Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan's Shed Plans.

I love love love her t-shirt. I used to be a liberal idealist in college but once I started homesteading I realized the government doesn't actually help anybody but themselves. It's up to us as good people with good hearts to help all the people around us. The moment we outsource our responsibility to a self-interested privileged class we introduce inefficiency and corruption. I want to end world hunger so I'm doubling my garden space to feed a needy family in my community. If everybody else does this, we can solve the problem. The govt prints money but they can't print food or love. We can all be the solution ourselves ❤️

A major role of government is to "spend for the public purpose", but for decades CORRUPT government has issued money to enrich the few. Also, most people have zero clue that "privatization" is actually their major scam, designed so they can EMBEZZLE endless government money!! We need to expose their lies and corruption in order to end their reign. Almost everything they tell us is lies to cloak their embezzling. You know how what they say and do usually doesn't make sense to us "regular people"? That is because they are always telling lies and doing crazy things to do more corruption!
If you want to know some specifics, here they are, so we can know what is actually behind their curtain of lies. I know some of this will seem crazy at first, but give it a read and see how it actually puts the pieces together better than what the corrupt money ADDICTS tell us.
Here is what the US criminals do all over the world, since WW2:
      1. Take over a country by coup, assassination, lies about government being corrupt or by threat or invasion so they can...
      2. Implement their EMBEZZLING scam of "privatization", taking over government services & systems and national assets so the corrupt liars can handle fiat government money & BILL THE GOVERNMENT ANY AMOUNT for running such things; they provide themselves with massive exec salaries and insanely high profits, becoming oligarchs and billionaires.
      3. Lie to the public ENDLESSLY to keep us duped.
      4. Praise leaders who submit to US corruption & demonize leaders who RESIST or reverse it - like Putin, who reversed the US plundering done under US puppet Yeltsin, like Chavez and Maduro in Venezuela, like Gaddafi wanting things nationalized and government money going to THE PEOPLE, like Morales in Bolivia, like Assad who said NO to a US pipeline through Syria, and so on.
We need a successful INTERVENTION on the lunatic money ADDICTS in power who lie, destroy and KILL for more "money fixes". They are totally UNFIT TO GOVERN and should face charges of dereliction of duty, violating the Constitution, embezzling federal money, crimes against humanity, war crimes and more.

Instead of growing food for a needy family, why don’t you show them how to grow it themselves. “The moment we outsource our responsibility…….”. Let it be their responsibility to grow their own food. Give a man a fish and he eats for one meal, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.

The small house craze is something else. My wife and I bought our 570sf house in 89’ (starter home). Raised two daughters here and have now taken in great aunt to care for her. My grandpa built his and grandma’s retirement home (380sf) in Galena, Mo in 1967. “Tiny house so cute and small, but full of love and that is all”.

My parents raised my brother and I in a house just a few square feet less than 800, but I don't think that they count the bathroom and laundry room in square footage. We had a very nice patio, and a huge backyard. My brother and I shared a bedroom until he moved out when he was 21, he was eight years older than me. No problem whatsoever, if the bedroom door was closed, we knocked. If the bathroom door was closed, you knew someone was in there. We had wonderful childhoods, and after my mother passed away, my husband and I moved into this house, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We also have an attic with a pull-down stairway.

I live in 800 square feet with a family of 4. I have 3 kids. All I can say is that a small space is easier when kids are young, but as they get older (teens), it can be the cause of many arguements between emotional teens that need a place to get away from each other. I have just partitioned off part of my living room for an additional bedroom because of this. All of our bedrooms are very small and this way, my 2 younger boys can be separated in their own small rooms. It's made for a much more peaceful house, yet we are still a close family because our overall space is still small. This family may find that they need to add on or create additional space by closing in above that open ceiling kitchen later on, but that's a ways off for them. I personally think that we should all be living in homes that are 1000 sqft or less. It's more affordable, better for the environment and promotes the togetherness of the family.

I loved how their kids are not in front of the screen all of the time and get a lot of outdoors exercise. Then watching on their screen together was wonderful! People who used to be close friends of ours and had four kids never, and I mean never, ever watched TV as a family. All the kids had TVs in their room, used as their babysitter, and they never monitor what they watched. I remember the oldest girl spent the weekend with us once and there was nothing on tv, we had cabled in, and I was watching The Walton's on a network that shows older TV shows, and she was so impressed and said what a great show was. And I asked her if she had never seen it before, and she said no, and I asked her if they ever watched Family TV together, and sadly, she said no.

Hi, guys! I came across this video, and I loved it. I have been looking into going "tiny" when I retire in about 12 years, but with my hoarding history I'm not sure I would be able to pull it off. Your insight is very interesting and I love all your creativity to make your home work for your growing family. You make sure the whole family does things together, while you avoid everyone being all on top of each other. I commend you for what you have done and that your homestead is a work in progress. Much success to all of you in your ongoing and future projects, and blessings to your family! I'll stay tuned for sure!

They are teaching their children real life skills, which in these days and times when things are so unsettled, we all need to know about farming, growing our own vegetables, and being able to live on our own. The bad thing is when you get older you need all of your medications, but if we had all live a lot cleaner like these people do and like people back in the day did we would probably have been healthier longer.

I love the concept of a well designed outdoor kitchen, laundry and bathroom while still having just enough kitchen, etc. to get through the poor weather times, be it too hot, cold, rainy, etc.

Your shed to house conversion is most likely going to be my destiny and your sharing so much of the process is inspiring for my budget. So much of the land I’m seeing in my price range happen to have 1,000 sq foot minimum for the living space. I may do your double porch idea and close one/both in to finish off that square footage to meet those needs if that’s a stipulation I end up with.

A few things. Your shower grout does nit matter. The waterproofing feature is a rubber pan liner underneath your tile.
Also, you inspired us. We have 4 kids and decided to start homesteading. We had a few issues. UPB told us that in our state the DOT had a restriction on height of buildings during transport so our lofts would only be about 3 feet. We couldn't do that. Also, in TN living in a "ready removable" is ILLEGAL. So, instead we've bought 5 acres and built a barndominium, doing a lot of work ourselves. It all started with a built on site metal shed.

I’m gonna comment again just to clarify and dissolve conflict, if you don’t have kids this is great. If you do, there isn’t longevity at all. Like my mind went to, what are you gonna do with the three musketeers when you can’t find someone to watch them and it’s the anniversary? What are you gonna do if somehow there is a financial burden and you are stuck there for a long time, while those kids all sharing a room grow..and mature…so how’s that gonna work?
I’m sure there are logical and good answers to these questions for people looking into this, but I’m still gonna make my sarcastic remark, because it is kinda funny thinking what your gonna do in the valentines situation lol. Anyway, no harshness meant at all, carry on.

And one more thing, you can give your opinions about where people should be on the internet, but RUclips algorithm brought me here, me being here I assume gives you money, if you monetize. So future advice, don’t say that, on your own platform. Because that’s basically burning a dollar. And you wouldn’t burn dollars.

I am so impressed, amazed and happy for you in raising your family to learn like all children should learn - by hands on experience, being outdoors and being self-sufficient. These are invaluable lessons in life and will be with them forever and hopefully when they grow and move on their own. They will have a solid foundation with which to carry on this amazing life lesson that cannot be learned or taught in school. Your children will learn more by this lifestyle than in any thousands of dollars college or school on this earth. I praise you and applaud you and wish you success, happiness and love in this amazing lifestyle you have chosen and created. And create by hard work, sweat and tears and over time. It is an ever-evolving experience. Truly inspirational!!! May God bless you and keep you in this lifestyle I believe that He(or She) meant for all of us to have!
