Thanks so much. 🙌🏼 I’ll let you in on a little secret… I’ll be shooting another video about the tarnish soon. I think the tarnishing effect after cleaning is even better. I cleaned the watch maybe six months ago or more and now the tarnish is more even and in my opinion looks great.

I’ve had this watch for over 2 years now. The little patina is was gives it its character and charm. I also have a silver polishing cloth to buff out the patina if I’m ever in the mood to clean it up. Best BB58 in my opinion!

Very useful info, thanks. The best part is it is apparently very easy to remedy. The amount of tarnish will probably be a strong function of body chemistry. I saw this first hand in JH and HS band where my new brass instrument never lost any finish but a friends' lost finish completely where he touched it and they were identical instruments.

You can replace the Vanguard strap tang with the one from your Tudor strap. I did with mine and looks much better imo.
I might some day. The Vanguard symbol looks so much like a Tudor shield I just left it so I don’t have to be careful with desk diving, etc. 😁
The patina actually is a protective surface layer. It's a mistake to clean it off. No one cleans antique watches and coins.
So true. I never clean my silver pocket watches. I don’t think it’s that bad cleaning this watch though… It’s not really ever gonna be a collectible. It’s just a fashion piece. But, you’re absolutely right about the protective nature of oxidation.
Would you mind sharing your cleaning process? I saw in the comments below that you dipped a qtip in tarn x solution, but would appreciate more detailed steps as I'd like to give a try on my bb58 925. Thank you!
No problem. It really was that easy. I just dipped a Q-tip and rubbed the areas of Tarnish trying to avoid the strap and bezel the best I could. Instantly the tarnish disappears. No scrubbing required. I quickly rinsed the watch in cool water. I repeated the process a couple times in a few areas where the tarnish stuck on a little more. I definitely got Tarn-x on the rubber strap and even on the bezel and it didn’t affect the watch in any way. Seems like a pretty safe process.
@@PocketWatchTime I appreciate it! I'll definitely give this a try. I've tried using a non-abrasive silver polishing cloth my AD gave to me. It works pretty well, but I feel like this method brings out the original shine more. Thank you!

Part of the fun with this watch is "watching" it patina...
It already has a new patina. It’s a bit more even this time. Last time it was a bit blotchy.

What I'd be more concerned about is the softness of the silver. Have you noticed that it picks up more scratches and dings?
I’m pretty careful with the head of my watches. I’m not so careful with straps and buckles… That’s why I love putting watches on a rubber strap. I actually don’t have any damage to the silver (yet). It’s definitely softer than steel… But it’s not a scratch magnet.
I honestly don’t understand why there aren’t more people talking about the bb925 tarnishing issue.
“The alloy is stable, the finish is final, and it won’t let you down in 1 million years” something along the lines of that I recall seeing in the Tudor new watch introduction clip for the 2021 watches and wonders- Shouldn’t this count as dishonest advertising or something?
Don’t get me wrong, I own and love my 925, especially with the tarnish, but this is my personal preference and I don’t believe this justifies Tudors claim…
I highly doubt things would be the same word, should the same have happened with another brand.
💯% agree. Tudor definitely guilty of false advertising on this release. Wouldn’t have changed my purchase - but still bad claims.

Hi, I’m interested in getting this watch too. I noticed in your video the spring bars look different, almost as if they are stronger and higher quality than other spring bars. Are these higher quality spring bars or am I wrong?
These are the factory Tudor spring bars - I used them with the rubber Vanguard strap.
where did you get that great watch band?
Vanguard straps - I bought one for my silver and bronze BB58.

I don’t think so. No rubbing required. Just used a Q-tip dipped in the solution and instantaneously the tarnish was removed. Pretty easy process.
Where did you get the strap? Looking to buy a rubber strap to show off the caseback and also go with the diver theme
It’s a Vanguard strap - for some reason they used to (maybe they still do) say it’s not compatible with the 925 version… but they’re all the same size and it obviously fits mine beautifully. I definitely recommend it.
I love the watch but don’t like the tarnish. Maybe the anti scratch stickers would help but still no help with crown or bezel. So maybe a lacquer from factory? Love open case maybe the bronze should have had this feature. Great video thank you. 👍
You’re right - open caseback would have been nice. Now I just need the gold version to complete my Olympic medals series. 😂
Hi, what will happen if you get the remover on aluminium bezel?
I was relatively careful to avoid contact with the aluminum… But I definitely noticed I did get some remover on that metal. No affect as far as I can tell.
Is there a video of the cleaning process?
It was so quick and easy I didn’t even film it. I just dipped a Q-tip in the Tarn-X product and gently dabbed it on the silver portions I wanted to remove the tarnish from. No rubbing required. I tried not to get the bezel and my rubber strap wet with the product just because I didn’t know if you would have a reaction or not. Then I washed the whole watch with soap and water. Done.

I would let it petina but I would try and keep the pitina even if I coild
After cleaning it the first time… The patina is a bit more even this time around. So far it looks much better than the original patina

The patina adds to the value, why remove it??? Get the normal stainless ones if you don't like the patina.
I do like the patina. The initial patina was in a weird place… It wasn’t really even. Plus, the color was a little brown. After cleaning it once the patina is more even and I think the patina is even a bit more of a gray color. So, I like the patina… But it does look better after I cleaned it.

Did you wear it? It seeks contact with human skin oils then lack of wear causes the tarnish. I put mine away for a month after wearing it for a month, and it was covered in brown tarnish. Very dark spots. I found rubbing with a cotton tshirt removed all of it.
@@EDHBlvd I definitely wore mine. I probably wear it more than any of my other watches. Mine likes to tarnish in creases - particularly around the bezel [which I never turn (haha - I’m definitely not a diver)].
Call me old fashioned but I don't think tarnished silver looks good. I would polish it once or twice a year. Plus it gives you a reason to interact with the watch in a unique way. Give it a proper cleaning.
For me, it just depends on how the tarnish looks… If the tarnish looks classy, I’ll probably just leave it. If the tarnish looks ugly… I’m definitely going to polish it again.
More watch cases should be made of silver its a shame the patina is amazing and ofcourse you can always polish it again

You could have compared it to videos or picks taken when you first got it so you would not have to clean it.
Very true. But, I wanted to clean it to see if the patina pattern is the same next time it tarnishes.

Yes, the unique silver of the Tudor does not tarnish like silver. It does have a bronze tone.
I took my tarnish with eraser it worked fine. Before that I tried to remove it with cloth and it scratched my case🥲
I’ve heard about erasers on titanium for scuffs… I’ll have to look it up about the silver. Sorry to hear you scratched your case.
