Compliments to the editor - I find myself spamming my phone in other videos to skip ahead past think time and dead time between sideboarding and such. LSV keeps amazingly fast pace, offers great commentary in the inactive time, and the editor is cleaning the rest up beautifully. Kudos!
theres an AI for that
LSV is the absolute best! I try watching numot and Reid duke, but they’re just not as good
When I watch LSV just complete chill loosing to less skilled players and never shaming them I rlly regret that it is so rare... Players I played with would be dead serious on a freaking FNM..... Thx for great content and happy new year!
I really hate the decision to concede before the opponent shows they can cast tendrils. Maybe I’m missing something, but it seemed possible for them to get so low in life that they couldn’t cast tendrils. And it wouldn’t add much time to let it play out.
I thought the same. While the storm deck looked strong, I wasn't sure about the pilot. Seemed like they might have biffed it
yea there is certainly a chance they fizzle out and get to low enough life where an attack from the eye kills them. especially after they bricked game 2 - you can win that game some % of the time.
I think I'm pretty smart, but I've proven time and time again that I'm not smart enough to know when to concede against combo players. There are so many ways the opponent can screw up or fizzle out. Trying to account for all of them in order to make a premature concession just isn't worth it.
I will 100% concede to on board infinites. But with storm you never know if they boarded out one of their win conditions and pitch cast the other, or something equally bizarre. And all those weird corner cases add up to real percentage points.
@@G.Aaron.Fisher I don’t concede unless death is clear. Especially in this case when citadel is killing the opponent.
on paper yes. but on Arena or MTGO i make them play it out and take the game actions. meanwhile im watching something on youtube so i dont really care.@@G.Aaron.Fisher
You know the level of the pod is in the gutter when you get p1p5-p1p6 blue fetches. Stop bullying the kids, Luis ;)
Also your ability to manifest LED in your packs is insane.
perfect timing. new year, cold morning, hot tea, fresh biscuits, and a new lsv draft baybeee
Or if your in the uk, a beer 😂
Other players drafting: “where are all the blue cards? Why are there never any blue cards..?”
LSV: *looks around confused, pretending he has no idea where the blue cards are *
I like that when sacrificing treasures to cast a spell with Underworld Breach, MTGO (correctly) shows the treasures in your graveyard.
Happy New Year! Thanks for the amazing content!
Those combos in game one are the reason I enjoy vintage cube so much
LSV turns are the best turns.
Worldspine wurm and leo arent in the mtgo cube anymore, right?
pack 1 last pick luminarch aspirant seems crazy to me. those pods! :D
Oh man posted 12 seconds ago, best time to refresh the youtube home page
I think "Soft Win" describes well the "Hullbreacher + Draw 7" combo
Jesus after drafting this deck looks absolutely insane, there were multiple times in the draft like forth or lions eye where the deck just got exponentially more busted
At 23:05, why not bounce the hullbreacher and then timetwister? Hullbreacher is a huge threat and shuffling it away seems great, even if it means they get a fresh 7. It even keeps them off shelldock for awhile longer Maybe its not the optimal play, but why was it not even a consideration?
m1g3 - not playing island turn 1 so you could have spell pierce up against their LED turned out to be critical, right? Without that, they never get the mana to hardcast citadel. Also, did you concede before they showed they had tendrils to cast? I know it was very likely but could been a bluff or them spinning their wheels trying to find it (last thing they cast was a preordain before you scooped) - I know you didn't have victory on board and still needed a 4th land, but seemed like a very winnable game.
He isn't a patient blue mage.
I was afraid you’d take a day off for the holidays. I should have known better.
He does multiple cubes in a day so probably had it ready to go ahead of time. They can schedule videos. At least I hope LSV can have time with his family while we enjoy our daily fix lol
@@Marksmaan Yeah, one of the first rules of content creation is that you keep a couple of videos in the can so you have something to upload if life happens.
18:53 Not that it makes much difference here, but with Urza in play, you could have converted your Incubate tokens before the end of turn.
“Too lazy.” Iykyk
Thanks for the great content - why don't you draft storm that often anymore though? :)
At 37:46, we could have used Urza to pay a blue to Kolaghan's Command so we would have enough black to play and flip Concealing Curtains this same turn. (We ended up passing with 3 untapped soldiers.)
Let’s go
Great vid. Surprised you didn't consider Glimmer Lens there since you wanted Artifacts.
BTW, since it seems Green is kinda weak in cube rn, it could use some help. Coco might be nice to add to your cube. Seems strange it isn't in any I've seen. I can understand an argument for power level, but some standard and pioneer stand outs have done well in cube. It might be worth a try.
Old card art for the win! 😢
Hey LSV.. love your daily uploads. I do have to admit that I play a little game everytime I watch.
I watch the entire draft, and I continue watching till you lose a match. So if you go 3-0 you get a full watch. It's so sad when the draft is amazing and I only see 10 mins of game play, but it makes those truly special 3-0 even more fulfilling. Happy New Year.
😂
26:19
Love the LSV gas. I knew I heard a bloop.
it's funny how you worry about cards that aren't even in the cube lol (leovold, worldspine wurm, etc)
But why concede though....
lol urge to cast time walk too strong, opponent with zero cards in deck, can just pass to them to win, but nah. XD
LSV being like “I’m little worried about Mana Drain, but any other counter isn’t that bad for me” and opponent immediately casts Mana Drain 😳 is scarylevel knowledge of the format.
LSV is truly the Final Boss of cube.
so, is this channel going to be pretty much vintage cube only now? (plus the occasional MTGA Draft, when a new set hits) vintage cube IS my favorite, so its not like I am complaining, but like 1 day a week of constructed would be cool, I have absolutely zero interest in trying to play vintage or legacy on MTGO myself, but watching LSV pilot some sweet new brews is always a joy
Haven't watched the rest of the draft but I prefer Tinker over Hullbreacher as I think the draw 7s are less common now to get and Tinker has many more easy hits. Well see if you do get any wheels though!
Eating my words with the Wheel of Fortune pick up in pack 3
@@stithler9757 That's not quite the way to think about it: As LSV intimated in the video, resolving a draw 7 with Hullbreacher in play wins the game almost 100% of the time whereas the win rate when resolving Tinker is substantially lower than that.
I don't know for sure what's the best Pack 1 Pick1 between Sol Ring, Black Lotus, and Time Walk, but it reeeeeeaaalllly feels like Time Walk is the answer.
It's the most unique effect that lets you play the most magic, sounds like the most fun choice, even if it might not be the best. Fits the cube feel the best, is how I'd phrase it.
I think the consensus is Time Walk > Sol Ring > Lotus, tho no one could be faulted for any of the three.
hate how lsv always gets his draw 7 with hullbreacher I play it and I either draw all my draw 7s with no hull breacher or I draw only hullbreache and my last few cards has all my draw7s
WHY would you take engineer over Cathar Commando next to last pick. You've already said you have no intention to play or love for the engineer and you don't have any enchantment/artifact removal. That choice makes 0 percent sense to me. WHY????
.
P1P2 "It's down to Hullbreacher or Tinker, Skullclamp is't quite on the level of what Hullbreacher does with Draw-7s" Dude, Tinker is the pick. Whatever Hullbreacher does with the cube's 3 Draw 7s, Tinker is GG with any Turn 1 or 2 artifact
Love people telling the third greatest magic player ever that he's wrong.
You get either Citadel, Portal, or Blightsteel. Citadel can easily fizzle and you have to build your deck around it. Portal does nothing on turn 1 or 2. Blightsteel dies to plenty of the good exile removal in the cube.
Tinker requires you to not only have the cheap artifacts to sacrifice but also actually get one of the payoffs (and for that payoff to be game winning). I've had Tinker sit in my sideboard after picking it early because I was in the wrong seat and the card was worthless more than once.
Against how many people is he playing? Keeps saying they they. Its just one player.
🥱
This has to be the weirdest ragebait I've seen in a while. Its standard practice to go for "they" if you don't know the opponents gender.
@@felixeisenmenger1914 yes, in my country that is a sign of schizophrenia. but you know, each to its own. not expecting common sense from americans.
@@gavrilutavlad3859 That's dumb. No way to tell if someone's a guy or a gal, so "they." Plenty of gals play magic.
@@gavrilutavlad3859 Dawg, "they" can refer to singular person, thats been this way for a few hundred years. Also, I'm not american.
